I use to drive a truck over the road for a long time. I was in a cafe in Nevada and my waitress was dead on her feet. After making conversation she revealed that she was a 22 year old new momma of a 2 month old baby boy. The father ran for the hills. She had been on shift at that time 12 hours. My own mother was 21 when she had me and my biological father abandoned us too. I couldn’t help but think was my own mother at one time. Struggling but still standing. I used my credit card to pay and left her a $25 tip and the $40 cash I had in my pocket. She was such a humble girl when I handed her the $40. She asked if I wanted change? I said no…you handed me two twenties sir. I know. I told her to buy her son something nice. With tears in her voice and eyes she said my mom texted me and we needed formula. That was going to take all my money. I smiled and quietly left to hide my tears.
Yah, but imagine if only there was a system where the waitress would earn a living wage without customers having to tip... And she could take paid days off during pregnancy and have health insurance coverage while giving birth. imagine that.

There are such good people in our World. Seems the news mostly reports on the bad people. What an absolutely kind thing to do for that sweet young woman. A life changing event for her.
I know it's incredibly clichéd to say but watching this really does remind me that no matter how much it looks like the world is going down the toilet there are still some really decent people out there and all hope is not yet lost.

"Seeing this reminds me that although the world looks like it's going to pot, there are still decent people out there." is a phrase that, in varying forms, always floods the comments section of these types of videos. I knew that I was being unoriginal when I wrote my comment but it perfectly expressed how I felt. Thats all the cliché was but if you want to join us looking for the good out there instead if focusing on the bad, then be my guest. We need more people doing so.
I’m a person who’s disgusted by how food servers have to depend on tips (not them but me the system, I live in Europe so tips aren’t a thing here) and this made me tear! I love that he told her to give some to the cook too because they’re often underlooked

The way she breaks when she hears the amount makes me think she's going through something besides her pregnancy and puts a brave face but that money just brought all her defense down. Wherever she is I hope she's doing ok.
And only you will know that. It is better this way, because he inspired some people and I can read similar stories, true or false, I can read them. There is always something good in these types of videos. And it is always by far better to help real people, people you see, than to give money on some account that says water pumps for African children and what not.
