Thank you for the memories. As the ground man in charge of mowing I got to visit the area. We maintained the bones for years after COD had cleaned and itemized. I suspect they are housed at the St C Historical Society. Mark Allen A. L. Allen & Sons and grandchild.
Hi Mark - thanks very much for watching the videos and commenting! Very good to hear your experience with this site. From our multiple visits to the St Charles History Museum, including their archives and their storage area, we learned that they transferred all skeletal remains to the Illinois State Museum in 1990. We've been in conversation with the Illinois State Museum, and they tell us that they still have those remains - although they intend to repatriate them in the future.
Hi, thanks for watching - and the important question. We believe that Mr Ellenbaum was referring to organizations such as the American Indian Center of Chicago (AIC). Another very active group is the Ho-Chunk Nation, which is currently based in Wisconsin, but which was one of the Native American tribes in the Illinois and the Midwest in historic times. There are also multiple Potawatomi groups and organizations that are still very active, in Kansas, Wisconsin, and elsewhere.
