I've been playing the marimba since 5th grade and I am now a senior. The past couple months I havent been able to play because of corona and the marimba is at my school. This video made me so happy, hearing and seeing someone else play.

I’m a sophomore and I haven’t been able to play either, although it wasn’t like I was the best at marimba. This piece makes me want to learn it and play it when I get back.

Awesome!! Great sound and interpreation!! 2 questions for ya 1) which mic (budget and not budget) would you suggest for recording marimba and where to put it 2) is it playable in 4.3 octave marimba?

Sampson C02 is 100 bucks for a pair. Great if you have an audio interface or Zoom recorder with XLR. I used the Rode M5 here which sounds just as good as the NT5 but much cheaper. If I had a better (resonant) space I would do large diaphragm condensers farther away, but it doesn’t make sense in an office. As far as playing on a 4.3, it works if you play everything up an octave. There are a lot of low G’s and F’s so I’m not sure it can be done another way

Well done, dude. Off topic question, por favor: re: marimbas and xylophones in desert climes (Palm Springs, CA specifically) - will some sort of oil or wax help with possible cracking, loss of tonality?

I'm not sure if that would mess with the tuning or resonance. Perhaps you can post to some of the facebook percussion groups. I know some of the marimba manufactures are on there and they may be able to answer. You could also try emailing them .
