Hang on,a couple of young lads who talk about football, and are being reasonable about Everton? without laughing at us or blaming us or attacking the fans? I wish I was joking but I haven’t seen this in a long time-I enjoyed this, have a subscription 😊
This narrative that Everton have been spending money irresponsibly over the last few years is out of touch. The last big spend year was 2019, 5 years ago. Since then Everton have the lowest net spend of any team in the league, even lower than the promoted teams
Onana wasn't good. In the 15 games he didn't start Everton earned twice as many points, scored twice as many goals, and conceded half as many (per game).
Enjoyed this. It’s refreshing to see younger lads talking about footy without giving stupid clickbait opinions. Fyi apparently Harrison has a clause in his contract to allow him to go on loan to a premier league club 👍🏻
Few corrections: - DCL was not injured all season, however he also wasn't particularly good last season and was up there with Darwin Nunez on most missed chances. He won't be signing a new contract and wants to leave, in pre-season it showed as he's now playing with no passion. I personally would like him out the door before the window closes and we get a replacement - Onana was not good for us at all. He got dropped this season and spent most of the season on the bench. It always felt like he was never playing as well as he could and largely went absent for most games. He didn't really do progressive dribbles as you say but would rather just pass it side to side and spend as little time on the ball as he could (however he did do a lot of great tackles). He might be good for Villa as our system probably doesn't fit him but he will not be a miss and that £50m was worth it. - Jack Harrison was not good for us either last season and for the majority of games was quite poor however as you said him knowing the system and him being a cheap loan means i'm not again this transfer - I suspect our starting XI for the first game of the season will be Pickford, Mykolenko, Branthwaite, Tarkowski, Coleman, Garner, Gueye, Ndiaye, Mcneil, Harrison, DCL which I personally hope evolved over the season to Pickford, Mykolenko, Branthwaite, O'Brien (love Tarks but I want O'Brien to break into the side), Coleman, Garner, iroegbunam, Ndiaye, Harrison, Lindstorm, Chermitti
Some interesting points. I'm surprised to see Onana isn't popular amongst Everton fans. Everything I've seen of him looks positive. Guess I just haven't watched enough! Do you think Patterson would start over Coleman once he gets back from injury? And how highly do you rate Chermiti? We didn't speak about him much as he just looks like a young talent who hasn't been given a shot yet. Just 1 start last season and total of 195 minutes
@@TheFootballChat Sean Dyche doesn't like Patterson so I doubt he will start. As for Chermitti for the little amount of time he's played I've liked the way he plays and I feel he has a lot of promise. So i'm hoping this is his breakout season, if not this season then soon hopefully
Onana was good for us mate you just expect things from him that he’s never done. Onana has never been a progressive dribbler and yet you expect him to do that? Onana was statistically the best midfielder at duel winning in Europe last season which was his job in the team. He’s a water carrier who mostly just sits and gives the ball to the attackers
@@theblues8840 I never said he was a progressive dribbler, I just corrected the people in the video who said he was. I respectfully disagree as I believe he was not good for us, atleast not compared to the likes of Gueye and Garner
Great analysis guys apart from you must have been watching a different Onana. He was average at best for us. He was on the bench or injured for most of our wins. Also Phillips is on 220,000 a week
Thanks! I'm intrigued to see so many Everton fans not rating Onana. Will be interesting to see him at Villa. Phillips would surely take a wage cut to join Everton? I think he's desperate just to play some football. Could get him around £80,000-£120,000?
@TheFootballChat I'm really not sure on Phillips we've been giving a few players higher wages than they deserve for a few years now. I do think Dyche is the exact manager Phillips needs to get the best out of him and his fitness back up to scratch.
Wow a fair balanced view from none Everton fans fair play lads Al subscribe On other hand lads I liked Onana but he wasn’t getting into the team tbf we are not a possession based team and ball going over his head with Dyche style of play all best to him Calvert lewin played 30 odd games last year boys
Appreciate the nice comment! Surprised to see a lot of Everton fans don't rate Onana particularly highly! Sure he'll be a better fit at Villa though! Genuinely surprised to hear DCL was fit most of the season. Has always struggled with injuries though. Hopefully that's in the past now!
Appreciate the feedback! Glad you enjoyed the video! It's quite difficult to nail everything considering we're not toffees fans but we do research heavily before recording to try to be as accurate with our analysis as possible👍❤️
Thing I worry about Everton is the goals. They only scored 40 goals which was less than Burnley last season. And if they leak more goals than last season then they will be in a relegation scrap
DCL was mostly fit last season however the problem was he was poor. Depending which XG model you use he was in the top 10 for PL players for how much service they had and yet he still only scored 5 non penalties. Even Brereton Diaz managed that and he joined Sheff U in January.
@@TheFootballChat it’s a huge worry mate, ideally we’d sell DCL for around 15-20m rather than him leave as a free agent in 12 months. Then I’d look at someone like Adebayo at Luton to replace him because as of right now I’m praying Chermiti is our starting ST despite the fact he’s yet to score a PL goal.
Leeds aren’t just letting Harrison come to us on their own volition, there’s a clause in his contract that allows Harrison to stay in the premier league as long as Leeds are in the championship, so Harrison is activating that clause and is choosing to stay with us
Yep sorry for that mistake! My point still stands that any profit would all count towards FFP as they paid very little money and that has been amortised over the course of his contract. Therefore, any sale would be massively helpful
Onana will be better at a different club but at us he was only ever good in 5 minute spells. Never had a consistent run of good games. Take 50mill all day
I think that's a fair assessment. As other fans have commented, Onana wasn't rated that highly by the Everton faithful. Still a key replacement to get right though!
