I would just like to thank all ground staff in airports everywhere that had to stay out in that weather to allow aircraft to land and be taken care of. Also to that madmen that stayed out in that weather to film this so we can be amazed at the skill of those pilots.
me a retired airline pilot, A330 the largest, long haul. REALLY ENJOY YOUR BEST OF and your commentaries are pure enthusiastic fun, so thanks and keep on going !
Found your channel yesterday during storm eunice, officially addicted and have a new appreciation of pilots! Loving the commentary Jerry! Very entertaining 👏 easy son! 😁
Love your comment. My daughters are too. I worked in Trauma & the Emergency as a first responder @ the hospital it gets the gets adrenaline pumping but, I'm ok
Brilliant viewing, started watching after all the publicity on news and internet about this channel after Fridays storm..I'm SO thankful I wasnt a passenger on any of them planes that day....
I watched this live all day sunday ..small hangover... mental weather ...on big telly chilling...was fantastic viewing....jerrys commentry and banter is hilarious....
I was thinking I'm going to point out 3 or 4 of my favourite moments of this show But this video is so good it deserves the whole 52minute watch!!!! Amazing Skilled, brave pilots !!!!
I learned to fly at Dodge City, Kansas (KDDC). At that time it was the windest airport in the U.S. (15.2 MPH). As a student we couldn't solo if the wind was higher than 30 MPH. If you didn't/couldn't fly in the wind you didn't fly in SW Kansas. These pilots were in "EXTREME" conditions and did a great job! Thumbs up to those pilots and crew. And a "HUGE" thumbs up to Big Jet TV!
Fantastic - Jerry & Big Jet TV....! Got the mates together & popcorn & Score Cards ready to Score each landing plus factoring-in the Degree of Difficulty...!
Awesome to see people coming over from Blancolirio. I have been a big fan of his channel for several years. Found Big Jet about 6 months ago. Love Jerry and his enthusiasm for aviation. Watched this live and it was a blast!!
Some years ago on a flight from Atlanta to Baltimore, through a storm along the east coast, we rode in the back row of a 737 I think it was. Anyway, the landing at Baltimore required 2 touch and goes and a change of runway to conquer the cross winds. That was not a fun ride. I had no idea airliners did touch and goes till then. Great channel, Blancolirio sent me, love it.
Hello, I first saw your work. via a pilot for a US major airline,,All I can say, is I ADMIRE YOUR WORK & running commentary , love your FOUL WEATHER GARMENTS TOO, Cheers FROM NJ. USA🏴🏴🏴🇬🇧🇺🇸
28:15 -- looks like a windshear escape maneuver: full power (love the smoke!), pitch WAAY up, flaps and gear stay down until the windshear warning stops. Notice how the plane appears to slow down a bit as it climbs, as the maneuver is designed to trade airspeed for altitude. Historical perspective: Windshear brought down Eastern 66, then PanAm 759, and finally Delta 191 before the rollout of the airborne wind shear detection and alert system, designed to prevent crashes due to microburst-related windshear associated with thunderstorms. However, the system cannot discern between microbursts (ie: strong downdrafts with outflows that caused the 3 crashes listed above) and other more benign conditions. But pilots have no choice: they are trained to immediately fly the escape maneuver seen here if the cockpit computer voice yells "WINDSHEAR!", which is what this United crew did. There are MANY false alarms in general high-wind conditions. The go-around you see here was likely NOT due to a microburst, but rather turbulence in high winds.
Jerry you are a excellent reporter! The videos are amazing I am pretty mellow and soft-spoken but, you got my adrenaline pumping! I sat in my living room watching coaching these planes down, I felt like I was right by your side standing in the rain. Great Reporting!
I Love That You LAUGH . Some People Might Not Think some of The cRaZy Landings are FUNNY... But They are.! No Harm ... No Foul ... Great Job. PILOTS UNDER PRESSURE. TREMENDOUS CONCENTRATION
37:20 TOUCH AND GO by a 777! Looks like the left main ended up to the RIGHT of the centerline as he pulled it up. Good call -- he was headed for the grass!
I love the 747! She will always be my favorite jet but watching the A-380 land in bad conditions is just something to see! Jeeeeesi H Christ! Just look at how wide those wings are look at how massive the landing gear is !
"let's start with a jarring noise that's by definition unpleasant; its horribleness will no doubt be amplified by tinny phone speakers. that squeaky scratch sets the tone for our equally abrasive commentary! that's just good branding, mate."
36:50 touch & go: "Ladies & Gentlemen, this is your Captain... We at British Airways desire for you to have memorable flights with us. Just to make sure you have memories of *this* flight we're going to make a second landing! Champaign and cocktails will be available at the gate upon deplaining."
Came here to find this after seeing similar videos on the news. This was 9am flight from Madrid and I can confirm it was a white knuckle ride. Probably the worst approach that I've experienced. Even when we got to the terminal the wind was so strong the plane was still rocking to and fro.
Sharon A I'm no pilot but I have studied how accidents happen and an accident can usually be traced to a prior event or decision....that pilot really pushed the envelope and was clearly in the danger zone....he/she should have gone around imho.
Flippin ‘eck Jerry, I’m hooked! All I’ve done in my spare time since last Friday is watch all your Big Jet TV videos, I’m addicted to this and FlightRadar24. Thanks for all your vlogs and great commentary, go on my son, stick it on the deck! 👍
I'm an avid aviation fan. Somehow got to know about this morning's heathrow event via some website. And it led me to this video. Watched the entire 7 hour footage and Jerry's enthusiasm. It was an amazing watch. Have subscribed the channel now. Looking forward to the next windy day at Heathrow and tossing and turning but safe plane spotting on this channel . Cheers .
That was some blustery right there, loved every minute of it. Pretty sure I was going to see Jerry cartwheeling away in the wind. Top notch commentary.
You have the best commentary and make these videos really fun to watch! Huge props to the pilots who get these planes safely on the ground in these conditions!
Those pilots are hero’s getting all those passengers down safely and making important decisions when needed to circle if they think the wind was just to much!
I watch all those typical jetwatcher videos with nuthin' but wind noise or piped-in music, but with added commentary like this -- I'm HOOKED! Very entertaining -- thank you.
The skill of these pilots is phenomenal - big kudos to them & your channel is helping everyone recognise that. I landed sideways once, everybody was crying & praying lol. I'm the worst flier but I love take off & landings, it's when I'm up in the air my brain starts ticking over. Ridiculous I know 😐
That Iberian pilot has serious skills, he was blown way of course! I bet pilots like days like these, gives them a chance to test out their years of training
So glad that you captured the 777-300 of Air New Zealand. I live over there. They get plenty of practice especially at Windy Wellington. Look up Wellington Airport windy.
They were talking about you on Radio 5 Live this morning Gerry, particularly this video and the Touch and go 777. You're a star son!!!!! Best channel on RU-vid by far.
I heard about your channel on Radio 1 yesterday with Greg James and am already addicted! Sooooo moreish! Love the commentary Jerry and as a bit of a plane/helicopter/jet nerd, this is right up my street. I could watch it all day. Love it son!
Flippin Jerry man lol!!!!! “Use that Rutter to flick it round son!” 😂😂🤣🤣 Idk what I like better his commentary or the freakin planes almost loosin it on the tarmac hahaha!!!!
