I adamantly disagree. If I'm paying upwards of $2 a chip, I'm expecting perfection. These chip makers ADVERTISE their chips as being durable. In fact, Key West specifically mentions on their website that their chips are meant for daily casino use for 4-5 years and so they would last a lifetime for home use. And that's why they charge $2 a chip. This just means that chip makers are starting to cut corners just because they can.

That's why in "my opinion" ceramics are KING! Durable, customizable and perfect average weight! (I do love me some casino chips specifically for the imperfections and feel! 😉

Pro clay chips wear out in casinos. It takes several years. Everyone watching these vids, is buying for their home games. Unless they’re playing 7 games a week at home, they will never wear out.

True , but casinos pay about 10-25 cents per chip.

@@BoleDaPole no. Casinos spend about. 1000000 a year on custom poker chips. It's almost 2 dollars a chip for most customs.

@@sagaflamingwood2841 Only if they're ordering the Made in USA stuff. If they're buying from China, 10-25 cents a chips sounds about right.

I have a set but how do they wear out I’ve only used them a couple times but what should I look for down the road

@@SergeantExtreme 75% of all casino chips are made by Paulson in Mexico and cost $2/chip. Paulson makes plastic chips under the name, Bud Jones. Korea has Matsui plastic chips. Chipco makes ceramics. Abitabi makes plastics in Europe. Sunfly makes ceramics and hybrids. None of these chips will cost .10c.

The way i view this argument is that when you pay a premium for something, like your furniture for example, you pay that premium expecting it to be high quality and high quality usually is also a meaning for longevity. Like your furniture, you pay a lot for that. Say 4k for i dont know, a nice table. You can use that table time and time again, pass it down to your kids, etc, and never have to really worry about it. Now lets change that and say that 4k table wears out after 40 times using it and you have to replace it. Spending another 4k doesnt look or sound very attractive. And i think thats what most people are saying with poker chips. You go out and spend lets say 2k on a premium set of chips, then after a month or 2 of heavy play they look like you dragged them across the driveway. Eventually youll have to replace them id imagine. Spending another 2k just doesnt sound very appeasing. And personally i think thats why so few companies stil do super high premium chips, because most people prefer longevity over having to replace something expensive every year or two. If everything in your house total cost you 150k and you were told that every 10 years youd have to replace everything, or you could spend 75k and get stuff that will do the same thing and you can use it for 50 years, i dont see anyone happily skipping over to the 150k side with a smile.

Never deal your own hand at ultimate Texas Holdem. My local room uses plastic slug chips with inlays. They're not nice like Borgata/Monte Carlo home chips. The next one over uses ceramics. I have all types of samples and I like shuffling my nexgens. lol

Good synopsis and just wanted to say thanks, you have the best videos on understanding the differences between poker chips! I also agree its always personal preference, the feel, design, colour scheme, quality factors, chip cost, shipping cost, available denominations are many aspects in deciding what's "best for me". I spent a long time watching your videos trying to decide and ultimately went with ceramic Port Royals by Jacks Poker here in Australia due to all of all those factors, shipping cost was a big one. Btw. It would be cool to see you review some of the chips in their range.

I think most of these *Premium* chips are just higher quality plastics. I think ceramics are the way to go. I bought some samples and got Majestic and those exact Jack Cincinnati $1 white chips he’s got in the video. They don’t stack that well IMO. Last time I went to the casino it seemed the chips had a matte finish that wasn’t plastic at all… sure they were broke in but the chip was completely flat and seemed to have a ceramic chip profile… idk it’s confusing. I’m tempted to take $100 and get 100 $1 chips from my casino Lol Edit: I don’t know why anyone would like chips that aren’t uniform and have inconsistency… that’s just me though. Chips aren’t each handmade their done in batches and some are more uniform than others but I don’t agree with this guy. Even with my samples when I stack them and hold them to the light I can through the stack. I’m gonna get a sample of ceramics and see how they are
