Taylor Made rep on line 2 🤯 Definitely considering saving some money on Costco wedges if the lofts work for gapping after I get my new irons. TXG’s test was eye opening.
I can already assure you there will be no performance difference. Mainly because in my hands, both are going to end up in the trees 30 yards off the side of the green because I've overestimated the power
There are only 3 options for me: chunk it 75% of the time, pull it hard left 10% of the time and blade it (usually at a friend's face) 40% of the time.
I love when Rick does these episodes high end vs budget he is so honest on the equipment sometimes you don't need to dish out the big bucks to improve your game it's all about your technique
I have a Wilson triple duty sand wedge that's like 50 yrs old but was in perfect condition when I bought it, it's so perfect that everytime I want to try a vokey or get a callaway to match my lob and gap wedge, I just remember I use this club to show off how good my short game is around the green and in the bunker. The club and it's weight works so well for my swing style. I think different clubs just work better for different ppls type of play
Unless you are mad serious about it and doing comps ect I find with golf the best thing to do is take every hole as it comes, you have a bad one don't stress the next is different and just don't worry what you hit, I find it's much more enjoyable when I got into that mind set
That’s ok just promise when you get better in a year get rid of those things. It’ll make you a lot better and you’ll be saying holy fuk I didn’t know the ball was supposed to be spinning like this lmao
Started golfing just earlier this year and made my first ever Birdie last week by holing out from 40 yards with a Kirkland 60 degree. I endorse them wholeheartedly! 😂
I bought these after your first video and this was the follow-up I was waiting for. I recently got a surgery and am unable to golf so I haven't even gotten to swing the Kirkland's yet, Rick you been scratching my golf itch and I can't thank you enough, cheers mate
I have the kirkland wedge set and have been extremely happy with them. Almost bought the taylormade but wanted to update all three and not just one. They really do perform well
I bought the Kirkland wedges, love the performance and feel. The only thing I found was on a sunny day the reflection sometimes dazzles you if you catch the sun on the face at the right angle.
Ive been playing the kirkland wedges for about a year and they are just soooooo clean for the price. Can't get much better of a performance to be honest.
I will say, that premium wedges just feels special.. I've bought some CHEAP wedges and been really really disappointed.. but I own the Kirkland wedges.. and they don't feel like cheap wedges, they do feel pretty premium. I changed to the Kirklands from some TaylorMade wedges (the TMs were just getting old and in need of replacement), and I am really happy with the Costco wedges. They did a good job on them.. they aren't just some cheap knock-offs, they're really good. If you really want the TOP of the TOP, or really want a specific grind (as Rick said here) the Costo option isn't going to fit, but I'm a mid-handicapper who likes good equipment, and for me, the Kirklands fit the bill perfectly
Same here also using the Kirkland Signature golf ball as well . Good ball that doesn't upset me when I lose one considering they are only £29 for 2 dozen.
Sorry if this is a boomer question, but i wasn't sure if the Costco Kirkland was the same maker of these wedges? That was just too wild for me to comprehend.
One more time you are sincere and that is why peoploe follow you. My handicap is 16 and I bought the kirkland after I seen your review and I can't stop singing their prases...they gave me so much confidence for my short game. Thanks again and don't change
Love my Kirkland Wedges had them in the bag a few months now after wanting some Vokeys/MG2’s which I tested and they are lovely looking wedges. Really glad I got the Kirklands and saved some money. Win win.
Thank you Rick! I bought the Kirkland set shortly after watching your review, it was the defining vote I needed to just get them, and I have been nothing but happy with them! Best money I have ever spent on wedges and maybe even clubs, certainly budget wise. I had a few sidelong glances and some giggling from friends that I was playing Costco clubs. After a few rounds that changed to are those still available? LOL Kirkland knocked it out of the park with these wedges! Now if they would just bring back the 4 piece ball!!!!
Loved this review. Many have said the same conclusion as you - just as good as the premium priced stuff. My only hope is that Costco starts selling them individually as opposed to as a set. Also, I’d like to see them in other lofts - 50, 54, 58. Thanks for your honesty and open-mindedness in your review, as always.
Had misunderstood wedges for years, and absolutely loved them! They finally came to an end, so I went and got the Kirkland wedges... absolutely amazing, I love the feel of them!
I don't often hit my 60 degree wedge 180 yards ... but when I do, it's from a greenside bunker. I have the Kirkland signature wedges. I really love them. My MacDaddy wedges are living in the garage.
My mate who’s off 4 bought some of the Kirklands and these and had a go of them the other day. Really nice. Look a bit like Vokey sm7’s, soft and versatile soles. Very impressed
Just goes to show that like a lot of things it's worth looking beyond the brand before you spend a lot of cash. Spend where it's going to make a difference but not where it's not necessary. I'm a fairly recent convert to golf and found I needed a 60 degree wedge. I got a new Ben Sayers for £30 and I'm really happy with it. It does what I want and when I improve my game and have the cash I might upgrade if only so I can get a matched set instead of the mixed bag I have at the moment. I really enjoy these videos and for a new golfer they are really informative. Keep them coming.
This was a great video Rick! Feels good to have my purchase decision validated. I got the Kirkland wedges here in Toronto for $179. And they are truly amazing. Love them and love that I didn’t have to spend $150 for each instead is used that money for tee times, (or golf balls if I’m real lol). Appreciate all the videos brother!! Can’t wait to see you review the Garmin R10!! Cheers!
Best utility club I had in my bag for ages was a $20 56 degree wedge (then the bag got stolen, I replaced my irons, driver, and woods with the Calloway Edge set from Costco you reviewed, and my wife gave me the Kirkland wedges for Christmas...very satisfied with my replacement set...Thanks, Rick for your advice, especially aimed at us budget minded duffers!!)
I recently switched from a middle of the road ball and a bottom tier $55 wedge to Vice Pro Soft Plus balls and Cleveland Zipcore wedges. Took 6 strokes off my game. Amazing what control can do.
@@icamero1 If you're not hitting a true 3-piece urethane ball, definitely make the switch. Even the $1/ball Kirkland Signatures will be a noticeable improvement on feel and spin around the green for you. IMHO wedges are subjective to confidence based not only on address at the ball, but also even head shape and weight of the club. I personally hit Callaway Jaws in a 48 and a 60, but I know guys who love the Kirkland 3-set.
@@icamero1 a little of both. I'm seeing more spin with my short irons too, so that has to be the ball. And the confidence gained from a new/nice set of wedges probably plays into it also. I feel I can mis-hit a cheaper 2 piece ball just as far off line as these. So not really any sacrifice off the tee.
I actually spoke to a Callaway Master Fitter/ Regional Rep last week about wedges and he explained the differences between the patents of all the major brands and such and mentioned that there was a 6% or less variance between spin rates and overall performance of the wedge. The major difference is being fitted for them because the sweet spot on the wedge changes based on design patents. When I jokingly asked about Kirkland wedges he just looked at me and said, "6 percent". Great video as always.
Watched your video on the Kirkland wedges and purchased them off your review. Could not be happier with them. Good feel, spin, and durability. For the price, an excellent purchase. Thanks and keep the great product reviews coming.
Thanks Rick , you just fixed my slice over the weekend. I wanted to buy Kirkland but was bit doubtful, now it’s seems clear I am buying Kirkland wedges.
You make a great point. Performance is the most important metric, at least for me. If the most expensive wedge gives you the same result as the cheaper one, I would choose the cheaper one. I also recognize that, like women's handbags, brand prestige can be a factor. If you have the money and desire the admiring looks with a high-end wedge, it might be worth the money. I support what Costco is doing here: making quality clubs affordable and enabling more people to play an expensive sport.
Saw initial reviews, plus a head to head against Vokey SM8. Then tried one that a buddy had and immediately bought a set to replace my older SM's. Only downside for me was had to buy 3 and only wanted 2 of them but the price difference is crazy. Changed the grips to something else but that was personal preference. Very happy with the 56 & 60 that I use.
Thanks for this review Rick, I had watched your initial Kirkland wedge review and I ended up buying them to expand my wedge game (previously only had a pitching wedge and sand wedge). I was recently wondering how they stacked up to the premium wedges performance wise so this is a perfectly timed video.
If your not gonna be hitting any “special” shots ya they’re fine but if you want to hit some spinning bunker shots and get the ball to spin back they won’t work
I’m def a budget golfer right now and currently have the Kirkland wedges in my bag, good to see you play just as good with them. I started a year and a half ago shooting well over 100 but thanks to yours a finchies videos I’m consistent mid 90’s now with some bad days and broke 90 for the first time a few weeks ago around stadium course, well chuffed i was!!! Keep up the good work!!!
Here in the states we have "medium" level brands, its what i ended up going for in wedges. Maltby tsw drm wedges. Full forged, built to spec with what shafts you want, length, lie, loft etc. Not as many bounce or no differences in grinds. But nice wedges for about $75 usd per wedge
@@Woopigmavs I have built and fitted for Maltby for about 11 years. I dont work for them, I am a 2 hcp, i love their stuff. Their TS1 and TS2 irons are amazing, same tech as taylormade 790 and I want to say Maltby brought it to market first. Their FGT wedge is the best one they have ever made. For years they couldnt make a driver or woods or hybrids well, I think Rick eludes to this, Their latest KE4 adjustable is as good as the g410 and very long for alot of forum goers. I pair these clubs with Paderson shafts or C-taper everyone loves them and I have built many a friends a set just after hitting mine.
9 minutes on the Taylormade Wedge, loads of shots of various types and heaps of hype. Followed by 30seconds of Kirkland Signature wedges not even the same shots and barely any footage. Good vid Rick top notch fair comparison video.
2 weeks in to my golf adventures, I have a basic set of clubs that cost me $950 (New Zealand dollars). But I also treated myself to a lovely 60 degree lob wedge and ended up with a Vokey and it is a pleasure to use. I have one club in my bag that is worth nearly 1/3 of the rest of my set in total, and I love it.
Rick, I bought the Kirkland's after watching your initial review. As I am on a budget it was the best choice for me, I have been extremely pleased and.. have had allot of looks and questions after good shots! Thanks Rick for your no bs reviews! Love the channel!
I own the Kirklands thanks to your 1st review. I like them a lot. People ask me what are those? And did not know Costco had them. I didnt find 1 person that tried mine that didnt like them.
This fits with what I’ve found to be the case with my wedges. I had a nice mix of “better” wedges in my bag but when they started to really reach the end of their lifespan I opted to give the Bombtech wedges a go. You’re right that the swing “feel” was different, the weight distribution was not the same as the other wedges. I was really pleased with what I was getting from them. I doubt I’d be as happy with their driver (or the irons for that matter) but high cost doesn’t necessarily reflect a proportionate difference in quality with wedges.
I went out and bought the Kirkland wedges on the back of your previous review and I’m glad to say I love them! And so good to see that you rate them against high end wedges. Thanks Rick 👍🏼
I just bought my set of Kirkland wedges not too long ago and I’ve loved them. No reason to spend a fortune on wedges, I have owned Callaway Cleveland and Taylor made wedges in the past but I don’t think I’m going back now.
I’ve been testing out the MG3 and I’m not a big Taylormade guy but I’ve really been enjoying them and am surprised by their forgiveness honestly. Really think they are the best looking wedges right now too.
@@Mikesmeyer88 I wasn’t really expecting much of a difference when I got them but after a few days of hitting them I have been impressed. Definitely worth a try. Have a great feel through the tuff, which that and the forgiveness I wasn’t expecting at all. I’m a fan of them. Plus I think their the best looking wedges personally.
Such a great video. You really do the foot work for people like us so we dont have to spend a lot of money trying to improve our game. You tell it how you honestly feel and that's important. I definitely trust your judgment on all things golf. Thank you for all the helpful content. It has saved me money in golf lessons.
Couldn't agree more!! I had and hand me down Vokey wedge that was in great shape, and yes it was amazing! I purchased the Kirkland wedges because of the price point, oh and because of your review! I personally love the Kirkland wedges. I hit them very well and they feel great! If you want a great alternative to spending $500 just on wedges, Kirkland wedges are your way to go!
I bought the Kirkland wedge set off the back of your test and can say anything other than great things about them. I changed the grips immediately as I felt the grips were a little thin and because I’m used to playing the Golf Pride Tour Wrap 2. £21 for new grips and I wouldn’t change them for any other wedge set! Brilliant bargain!
How about the grips for the Kirkland set? Were they of quality and seem as though they would last? Thanks Rick for ALL your amazing content and making golf videos fun, interesting, and motivational!
My irons, woods, and driver are Taylormade but the only wedges I like to use are Clevelands. Just been hitting them for so long and I'm super comfy behind them. Love the new Zipcore model 52 and 48. My SW is the "older" RTX3 56 as well as my 60. Just don't see ever changing brands when it comes to wedges. But, if I was ever in a place where I wasn't as financially sound, I'd have no problem hitting the Kirklands. I've hit their premium ball a few times and I liked it so I think they're onto something with their golf products in general.
Rick, your chipping is getting better everyday, you did great with both kinds of wedges today, now bring that to the next challenge with the boys and we won’t hear any polls of fun with those shots. I agree about the wedges, I can’t afford the high price wedges so it’s good to know that the lower price ones work just as well. Nice video Rick as always
I talked my dad into getting these. I’m me personally huge on feel and look play SM8s but I’m also off scratch. My dad kept buying super used and wasting money on random stuff over priced too. And I showed him these Kirkland and explained that brand new grooves will make a huge difference. Funny enough. He is happy to even see a ball spin too much lol cuz he has never seen it before spun some off the green and told me see that great shot how much it spun. I just laugh and enjoy seeing him enjoy golf again. Next I’m going to try and teach him how to use them correctly and flight a wedge so it hops and stops and no more over swung steep high spinners.
Ordered myself some Kirkland wedges today. Needed to replace my 56 degree and my wedges currently are a mismatch of old second/third hand Vokeys and Clevelands - 3 brand new wedges for the price of buying 1 Vokey 56. Can't argue with that, especially considering all reviews seem to show that Kirkland are good
Love the review ; however, in Canada, you cant buy Costco products without a membership which costs about $80. However, most of us know someone who has a membership so you dont need to add that extra cash when trying to take advantage of a much lower price point. Will keep it in mind when my wedges need replacing.
What an intro. Rick looking like an absolute boss! Recently started into looking at a wedge set to complete my bag (still need a driver though) and really love the look of the new callaway jaws full toes with maybe getting them customised with my kids names on them but this is making me rethink that as the cost would be ridiculous compared to a set like the kirklands
I own these Kirkland wedges. They cost approx £90 here in Canada for the set of 3. I've played one season with them and for the price point and performance, they are brilliant. Not forgetting, the Costco no quibble warranty and returns.
Great honesty.. the one difference is if I spend £450 of three wedges I am going to get them professionally fitted so the shaft, lofts, bounce etc suit every aspect of my swing, and I cant realistically do that with Kirkland..
I’ll tell ya what. After watching yours and a few other videos on the Kirkland’s i know what my next “major” golf purchase is gonna be. Gonna grab me a set of those wedges
I agree with Rick don’t over pay for wedges I use top flight gamer wedges and I couldn’t see too much of a difference between them and Taylor made mg2 picked 3 of them up for 50$ a piece can’t complain. keep up the great content Rick
Rick, you’re an absolute gem! Thank you for making this video, it is exactly what I was looking for! Ordered the Kirkland wedges and I’m going to give them a go.
Had the Kirkland wedges in the bag since I took up golf seriously last year. Absolutely spot on, wasn’t prepared to spend 450 quid on 3 wedges, so 150 fitted perfectly for me as a new golfer. Can’t see me swapping them out anytime soon as they work, so why fix something which isn’t broke!
That was quite informative. If I win the "ANY SET OF IRONS" prize you offered, I'm not asking for a Kirkland set but I've got my eyes on some mid range options that would just look pretty in the bag...and probably perform just as well as the top rated sets.
Always played Cleveland wedges, decided to try the Kirkland and I really can't tell any difference at all in the performance, and basically 3 for the price of one. Now I am trying out the Kirkland ball to see how it compares to the TP5x.
Love my K-Sig wedges but wanted to make a couple points: 1. The Costco membership is 60 bucks a year so if you aren't already a member add that to the $150 price. 2. The chrome finish on the face starts as blinding when it reflects sunlight but the chrome finish fades with use.
