For anybody else thinking of doing something similar, for god’s sake get a full PDM - I’ve recently rewired my track Giulia with an AIM PDM32 and, watching this video, I’m so glad I did. It’s so much simper - including fault-finding and fault protection. You can either use canbus or logic on analogue switches - and you can solve so many headaches in the software side of the PDM. The wiring for this car could have been so much simpler.

good luck with the engineer Jeff I have just been through this process and passed first time, My car was a bit more modified than yours and had to do a lane change test along with the braking and noise tests, The only thing i would be worried about is the roll cage as they are a bit anal about them

Its a 1965 honda s600 convertable with a gen 2 suzuki hayabusa engine. custom tube chassis and suspension running a wrx diff .

Re: Oil Leak via Intake Filters. Yes, the engine will quite happily pull oil & water vapor from the dry-sump oil tank, especially during hard cornering and high revs (or if it's been simply over filled.) My understanding is that Ferrari went through a few iterations of "disaerator" to solve this on the stock engine, but I believe it was never fully sorted. There is a relatively simple solution for this... 🙂

Having lived through the Australian modified car scene of the 1970s and 80s, it's no wonder there are such requirements for modified cars - as some of the mods (more like hack jobs) of the aforesaid period were simply diabolical. One of the worst I witnessed was a modified cut & welded shortened steering arm with what can only be described as 'spit/bubble gum' weld - I mean what could possibly go wrong.

@@brinker7 no problem in the Netherlands.. I've put a 2.4 jtd in my 74 Giulia and it was fully road legal for about €100 total cost.😊 And that was with completely modified steering and custom independent rear suspension.

The oil leak could be from turbulent air swirling underneath the front end the car while is in motion ? That Alfa isn't the same vehicle that you drug home like a lost kitten 4 years ago that is for sure. Awesome Work by far my favorite build of yours so far !!!

There's a small voltage drop with a diode (~0.7V), I'm guessing it would account for the drop in brightness. Maybe after the diodes, you could trigger a relay to get full voltage for the globe... and get a nice audable "click", "click", "click" sound

Those engineering requirements are over the top. Here in North Carolina I put a 900 hp 2JZ engine into a 2600 lb. Toyota pickup without any inspection whatsoever. Australia makes California’s restrictions seem kinda mild.

For any little leaks from a shrunken seal AT205 reseal,re-freshes & preserves oil seals in an engine , tranmission & power steering .Also painted or sprayed on rubber bushes and CV boots .It doesn't just thicken the oil like other engine oil products. Perhaps an oil catch can in the PVR system may help? Love your work !

It might be stating the obvious but LEDs are diodes as well, if you're going to replace the globe perhaps you could replace it with 2 LEDs one for each side (maybe even a reflector / separator inbetween so you get an indication of which indicator is on). Less components and simpler? I can't remember how your PCV is set up but I presume any breathers get fed initially to the dry sump tank then the top of the tank goes to the air inlet post filter? But both air inlets? and how is it pushing back out the filters? everything should be going the other way ie into the engine...

It is fed in post filter, but it is a down hill run and it drips a tiny amount when parked

Oil getting up into the plenums and intake system of a 360 or 430 is a common indication of a little too much oil volume in the system.

Hope it goes well Jeff! Years ago I had a car with a 4point cage, I had to put padding on it even though it had no rear seat, other thing is the decibel test… your car does seem quite loud on camera

Old flashers had three connectors: one for each side and the third terminal just went to the flasher switch. See frogeye Sprite for an example.

I have the same camera in the 911 and e63 not bad but it drains my battery if not driven over 2 days and I had someone reverse in the benz the other week but it showed the number plate as a blur. its 50/50 for me good during the day but iffy at night

In England, you could buy a shell made only of rust and mud and do whatever you like to it and get it on the road without anyone giving it a second glance. Technically if you modify it too much its meant to be inspected, which it never is. And it has to be roadworthy otherwise you'll be fined, but that's only if your caught!

One of the worst I witnessed was a car fitted with modified cut & welded shortened steering arms with what can only be described as a 'spit/bubble gum' weld. Now such a modification could not be reasonably found during a 'routine' police roadside stop. A very bad outcome could be a steering failure of the aforesaid 'dodgy car' such that it collides at speed into 'your car' containing (lets say) the wife and kids - or another family - I mean what are the chances?

They do that every year for regular cars, but the brake testing for this is around 30mins of accelerating and braking.

Are you sure there’s an engine oil leak?? The oil from the air filter will blow off your bumper and onto the engine. It’s probably from that air filter ??

No it hasn't. It's perfectly sensible to do this kind of testing off road - even if the vehicle is registered (and allowed to be on the road in its modified form), an insurance company will be unlikely to cover it being on the road without engineer approval.

Oil catch cans. How the hell has no one mentioned this. Every modern car for decades has vapour capture due to emissions. Its not required. But for compliance yes. I vent my heads on my 3.2 Busso GTA to atmosphere(filtered but still not a enclosed system) I also have no cats, so yeah. Fukk off. On my 392 SRT alot of boys run catch cans to seperare oil from the vapour. I might. No biggy. Does not seem to waste a lot of oil, vapour or burn. But i might, to prevent oil seeping through and gumming up intake componentry. Throttle body, MAF, butterfly's, plenum runners, inlet valves etc.The reason some want catch cans in their system. Easy to incorporate.yeah, ive even seen a guy run 2 catch cans on his GTA, so never say never. Dont care. But you NEED them. No option. Must do.only issue id say youll need larger than normal ones based off the amount of seepage.

@HomeBuiltByJeff oil(vapour)vents from the heads and is captured, redirected back into intake and "burnt" to prevent it venting into atmosphere(emissions). You mentioned oil leaking from intakes. A in line catch can captures the oil in the vapour, preventing it from going through the intake. Should prevent seepage back out through the filters. Can't think why else oil is escaping from intake manifold. PCV issues maybe.......🤷‍♂️

@@Paul_Zernick Oil vapour is going from the cam covers to the dry sump tank and then any excess vapour from the tank goes to the throttle bodies ;)

Not only can you access your car via the 'app', so can whoever made the app. And their government. And hackers. The only other way you could be a bigger security risk is to hunt pokemon. Want real-time images of something? Just plop a rare pokemon on it and the cameras just show up!
