I remember when I had to do night ops in the Army. It was hard at first to adjust depth perception wearing nods; over time, it got easier. Sometimes it was scary going on patrol not knowing what you’re going to run in to. But sometimes I miss that stuff.
Only thing I would add would be to confirm your lazer is aligned with your optic. Can do daytime with visible settings or night time with passive setup and IR. Find a reference point at 25, 50, or 100, whatever your optic is zeroed at. Everything else was great.
@@TuxPenguino So every time you can't see something you're going to pop a flare ? Or carry a $90 parachute flare which you would need multiples of Also white lights are not meant to be left on all the time so theres no need for large heatsinks Your gamer youtube logic is flawed
@@TuxPenguinoyou’re gonna d!3 if you do what you just said kid. Flares are meant for signal plan, casevac/medevac or illuminating the enemies position during a fight. You obviously have a gamer mentality. Good luck with that mindset
As always, awesome content. This and the Rifle Optics video knocked it out of the park. In the same vain as the hasty section here, maybe a video on QRF Considerations & Preparations as that is more relevant to me both on and off duty.
Awesome video. Thank you for continuing to educate and equip. It’s refreshing to see you not making 50 ballistic gel videos. Also side note, I’m glad to see Adam not wearing a hat. I don’t care what anyone says, it’s hard losing hair. I respect it and if/when I start receding I hope to have the courage to do the same.
Very well done on the PCI’s! Something most folks never hear about. After 34 yrs of wearing nods, the cap trick is worth its weight in gold, just one nobody really thinks of. Good job, nice kit!
Solid information as always Adam. I like the "Hasty" method. After action checking cleaning re-packing and staging for the next evolution. Works best for us illiterates! Nate
Tie downs are definitely underrated on the civi side. I've seen many of PEQ15s get loose and start to fall off of rifles due to vibrations while shooting and even just movements in more challenging terrain
When I was in the Army, I wasn't a cool guy so not much experience with night vision. But one of the coolest things I did was driver's training at night with nods. Off roading in the woods at Ft. Polk at night with nods was cool and fun ASF.
For checking your sidearm to see if it picked up the round you can feel the magazine tension. Press the top round before you load a round and after, there’s a pretty noticeable difference. Or just press check like you demonstrated.
Good stuff.... gotta take the pre inspection sequence serious... that's why the Jumpmaster JMPI & dive has a sequence, process you gotta do to eliminate failure... PCI...Pre combat inspection
Love it. Only problem with the “hasty” method is parasitic battery drain. Newer NVG (NODs) with digital buttons, LAMs (lasers) left in the wrong switch position or in general just drain - etc. For this reason, I run a battery pack. I have a visual indicator that the battery is “removed” so the NVG is safe for storage but also a physical break in the power connection eliminating any draw and I know that if fresh batteries were put in there last then they’re good to go.
No gear noice check? Maybe you consider this a normal SOP but if not you need to do one for night ops. Put on all your equipment Walk a few steps and jump around a bit Check if any part of your gear makes any noise Isolate and fix noise offenders
Any thoughts on a low tech (no NVG, or laser) night combat video. Like WWII, Korea, Vietnam (I know they had some night vision later on but it wasn't common place).
Converging zero > Parallel zero for lasers. Zero it to your optic out to 1000 yds and you are gtg. Then during your PCCs you can easily check your zero vs your optic.
@@Pelonp55 I hope it is very much so, the only thing holding me off from getting an LV119 was the fact there was no quick release on the shoulder, if this is an LV119 V2 I am purchasing it the second it releases.
We never leave night vision on the objective. We leave everything in bulk at the airfield so the enemy doesnt have to search for it. Its right next to the weapons and aircraft that we also left for them!😂😅
one simple question, when it comes to setting your nods pouch on yourself, should it be put within your reach when wearing the plate? For example in Adam's case he put his pouch, to the right of his front plate which he can access by himself. But doing so means sacrificing spaces and molles which could be used for mags or other pouches. Since nods are only used in certain environments, why can't we put them on our back panel (mounted on the molles) or just out of our work spaces? And when we need ro use them, simply asking your teammates to grab them for you or if have time, just take of your pc and grab them yourself? Just my opinion
0 seconds ago I answered this in another comment. It WAS One Hundred Concepts, but I think they pulled the product because enough people dogged them for being $150 retail. But I think they’re great and would probably pay that to have the hard shut off aperture. Keeps the sun from burning your tubes when day noodling.
I'm halfway thru this presentation, & I have to say, that if I was a new firearms owner/etc, this video would be 98% overwhelming, & have too much info for the noob nighttime operation enjoyer
You’re confusing the politics that go into a counter-insurgency, such as Afghanistan, with technology that gives you an advantage in battle. Given the options, both sides would take the technological advantage in a fight.. We didn’t “lose” Afghanistan because our guys aren’t good at fighting.
@@kevinmcdowell3446 allow me to interrupt your copium with some facts. All the gold-plated nonsense in the world is totally useless when your opponent has more patience than you. Which is the case for almost every single foe we fight. All this high-tech super expensive gear does is drive this nation deeper into debt while accelerating the impending collision with the brick wall of insolvency. Also, I'm completely tired of hearing Millennials and Zoomers LARPing around with $20,000 of gear talking about how they can't afford a house because the system is "rigged" against them. That is all.
@@kevinmcdowell3446 and you don't have to put lose in parentheses because we got our tails kicked in Afghanistan and left in complete utter and total disgrace.
@@turdferguson2863 completely delusional thinking. The US military had 20 years to take out the Taliban and completely failed. They were arguably stronger when we left then when we got there. It was a complete and total strategic and Tactical failure.
Low viz kit or kit revolving around civil unrest and other considerations? Like what kit is kept in vehicles, truck gun +kit, preplanning, changes of clothes?
@@adamholroyd8862 I think a lot of guys justify it because they say "Oh if I drop my pack I can just come back to the rally point and get them." Because nobody's ever been away from their pack for an extended period of time, apparently.
@spiritussystems is there any IFF system comparable to a strobe or IR patches but for thermal ID? A lot of drones have thermal capabilities now but do we have anyway to identify ourselves to them?
