Hello all.
As promised, my P3D v3 settings. The video went a little longer than I wanted. Just forward to the end to see how well the VAS is managed coming into Dublin, ignore the landing ;)
Remember these settings are what work for my current pc setup. You need to make the right tweeks for your own setup.
I hope they help.

In this video I have the following installed:
- Prepar3D v3
- PMDG - 736 NGX
- EZDok
- Active Sky Next

- REX Soft Clouds
- Orbx - Global BASE
- Orbx - Global VECTOR

Hey Dirka, just got P3D installed following your settings in the video. Works like a dream, locked at 30fps even at Heathrow with nearly all settings on max! Thanks mate!

I tried without NI when I installed P3D, but got horrible aliasing on water and plane textures. The NI settings completely fixed it, so going to stick with it!

+Brenden “durka” Quinn yes, no harm in trying mate; I know a lot of people don't use NI now, so you might get better results!

Good way of explaining it, it builds up, then dumps, builds up, then dumps, I did a JFK to Heathrow flight last night and it OOMed coming into Heathrow, but that was in the PMDG 777, thats the second time I got an OOM, the first was also in the PMDG 777 over London, so now Ive tweaked all my settings exactly like yours ;) thanks again Dirka

Oh so you oomed with v3? What we're your settings? They must have been high.

+Brenden “durka” Quinn yea had them all pretty much up to the top, but I have now tweaked them all the same as in your video so ill test it again soon with the PMDG 777 around London

+Peter Matthess yes will be good to see how the sim is now after you have changed the settings. I want to do one more test. I want to Max out all my sliders when I do my VFR flying.

+Brenden “durka” Quinn yea just tested last night, with the PMDG777 over london Im about 3.5/4 VAS, and I did some VFR flying over ORBX Vector+ORBX Open LC with the A2A Spitfire and I was 2/4VAS, so I think I have found my sweet spot :)

My setup is quite similar to yours except that I have a GTX 780. I'm hoping to find a 980 under the Christmas tree. Anyway, by using your settings on my system, my P3D flying experience is much improved and graphics really pop. Thanks for the awesome video.

BTW the you have a great setup there. With my youngest graduating college next year my wife has given the go ahead to upgrade my lowly 2600k to the 5960K Extreme with a Titan Video Card so I can run similar settings. For me I have to run unlimited with no SGSS or else my CPU and GPU croak. I've tried locked at 30 but when I'm close in for landing at a payware airport I'm down to 15-19 fps which is a no go in my book. Enjoy your videos, keep up the good work.

Thanks again for your kind words appreciate them. You will see a massive difference with that card and cpu. Even a 980TI will be good. I'm in the process of upgrading too as my streaming/add ons pc is taking strain now. I'm running an old I7 950. I'm not sure if I should go for the new skylake or 5820k.

Should be vref plus 5 with a minimum of flaps 25. Should not go below the flap speed shown on the speed tape. Landed with flaps 15 at flaps 30 speed. . Ya, you were right, you were slow. Nice video. What resolution are you running with your monitor?

I'm pretty sure that the NI setting for SGSS must match the MSAA in P3D, not the Anisotropic texture filtering setting. So NI SGSS 8x then in p3D under MSAA is 8.

How do you cope with VAS with your setting. When I start a flight (similar setting) with a HD plane (Carenado 525A) at the begging I have 1 GB left, at approach maybe 0,4 GB left and no chance for landing. No possibility to fly from Kastrup (FlyTampa) to Shiphol. Any idea?

Been doing a lot of testing and research. Everything I found supports what you've said, match the Sparse Grid Sampling with your MSAA, however, when I did that I actually got poor performance. I ended up doing what you have here, 4x MSAA, 8x SGSS, and 8x Anisotropic Filtering and it not only looks great but seems to perform well at 30 FPS testing at FSDT LAX and JFK. Running 8x MSAA, 8x SGSS and 16x Anisotropic or 4x MSAA and 4x SGSS would leave me in the 20 FPS or lower range. This is with a GTX 660 Ti though, so things are going to be vastly different when compared to a 900 series card.

Yeah your msaa should be the same as your sgss. I did correct the myself with that. As i say on most of my videos, these settings are what work for me. If people are not getting the same results you need to lower your settings and sliders and see what works for you.

Very interesting! Seems you also have GSX something (Ground Services?) installed. Plus the navigation chart subscription, and probably a mission planner? It's scary how many add-ons one has to buy on top of P3D to get a reasonable experience :/

How do you get the VAS Monitor from projectFly. I signed up on their website but I don't see it as a download. Do you have it install the software in order to get the monitor?

OK I don't know why but I experience a massive difference between 30 and 40 or between 30 and 60 or 40 and 60 There has been a video which was a fsx night landing with the pmdg 737 where u could see what I mean it was so fluently

Brenden: how do u show the VAS panel? is it concern to P3d v3 performing ? i got p3d v3 installed in win 8.1 64 bit GTX 750, Ram 8GB . My FPS is so low while im landing the PMDG . Any advices for Tweak or setting? also i run with Rex 4 texture, Rex soft cloud , PrecipitFX , ASX ,GEX Thank you!

Follow my video and see if it helps. Of it doesn't you need to bring down the sliders and adjust accordingly.

Do you have a glass eye by chance? Because the human eyes can most definitely see the difference between 30 and 60fps. Why spend the money on a GPU like the GTX 980TI, if you're happy with console-like frame rates? Kind of odd...

Where they not set to flaps 30? Video is not about my flying skills it was about the settings and showing you how well v3 handles VAS

there is an annoying stuttering effect indeed! you can try with shadowplay for Nvidia experience it should be smooth as my knowledge. thx for the video.

are the profile settings in nvidia inspector only take effect when that associated executable is running ?

Hi Adrian, It will take affect once you click apply in the top right corner. Make sure you pointing to your p3d.exe.

Hello there! first of all i love your videos, theyre really nice to watch. I was thinking about buying Prepare3d v3 but then i got unsure becuse i arent so good on computers and that stuff. So my question is: is it easy to like set every thing upp? is it just to download it and play? i got experince of flying becuse i am currently playing FSX! Gratefull for answers!

+Macke Wennman Hi Macke, many thanks for the kind words. its very easy to set up things with V3. When you install V3 just follow the installer and that's that. When you want to install planes and scenery, again just follow the instructions from the installer and its sorted.

Try setting target frame rate unlimited. Made a huge difference. No need for inspector. Untick wide view aspect ratio. Maxed out settings 35-35 fps. Anywhere with pmdg, orbx, flightbeam/fsdreamteam, rex clouds/texture direct. My spec 4790k and gtx 980ti.

I have tried unlimited. Don't like it. Can't see any difference. I get more stuttering with unlimited. I've always locked my frames. I still want to do some testing without NI. I know some guys who watch my twitch say it's made their sim worse. I'm yet to try it to make a proper conclusion. You only untick wide aspect view if you don't use 100% zoom in your Ezdok settings. My sim is running flawlessly. Thanks for your comments. Will do another video once I test the sim without NI.

Yes well spotted. Had a look again. One engine is spooling a little more. It could be fsuipc. Maybe just need to calibrate the throttle again.

+Macke Wennman it depends on the plane. Some have options to go cold and dark some don't. Some you can change by going into the aircraft.cfg file but only do this if you know what you doing.

What does the error say? I get the odd CTD. Try lowering your settings if you not running a high end machine.

Jacksontheavgeek your settings are still to high then. Try bring back some of them. Or delete cfg and rebuild a new one

Yeah I updated to 3.1 and didn't like it, so I did a fresh install of everything to 3.0, works great.

MSAA needs to match you SGSS setting not the texture filtering. If you search AVSIM you will see post by Steve W where he explains the settings. Just FYI.
