Hi! I am visual artist from Ukraine and I my current big project is a series of Ball-jointed Dolls (BJD). I wanted to share some parts of the process with you.
Last few month I’ve been working on a new doll and now I am prepearing her for resin cast. So I invite you to join me in sanding, priming the doll parts and assembling the mold boxes for the liquid silicone.
The next video will be pouring the silicone, it’s complex but quite relaxing process, so stay tuned.
The material used for sticking the doll parts is just a regular sculpting clay. The primer I used is from Tamiya.
For silicone molds and resin cast I will use Smooth-on products.

Well I guess I vastly underestimated the time making molds and casting a bjd would take. It looks just as laborious and time consuming as sculpting the doll itself. Only much more stressful, unpredictable and more expensive since I'd have to purchase a pressure pot

Yes, it is very time consuming, but when I start getting first results (like the first assemble of a master doll) I usually became very motivated to proceed:) miniature is some sort of magic for me 🪄

Quick questions: the green strips you placed above the head of the doll and behind each of the hands, what is it for? And what are the lines in front of each of the fingers? Thank you for this video! ❤

Hi! The green strips are the holes for pouring the resin and the strips next to fingers are places for the air that didn’t find its way out while pouring
