Learn how to prepare for your ICU interview with these helpful tips. I'll give you 20 questions to ask your interviewer but you must NOT say this! #ICU #INTERVIEW #QUESTIONS
I interviewed at the ICU for clinical tech (pre-cna before starting cna school). Your tips gave me some ideas of what the DoN might ask me for my job, such as management of difficult patients or situations. I also watched cna skills videos so when I shadowed, I was able to help the actual CNA with a patient. Anyway, I got the job! Thank you so much for your generous and excellent advice!
I'm glad you're finding the info helpful! Thank you for subbing/watching. If you have questions I haven't covered yet, let me know. I plan to do a Q&A video soon.
Ok saving this video to really know the ins and outs of those medications for when I apply to ICU nurse residency programs after I graduate. Thanks for the tips!!!
I know this video is old but I just received my first RN offer in the CVICU. They asked me the blood through the heart and 1 question about carcinogenic shock. I didn’t mention CRNA😂😂 but they did ask me my 5 year goal. Thank you so much.
Love the video, have interview coming soon for SICU. Do you think that is a good start? I'm a new nurse. I have a question. Will it be safe to have questions written down for the interview process or is that too much?
Hi just about to embark into nursing school. I like watching these videos. I want to go into ICU after graduation, but it seems like a lot I would have to know from the jump. Should I go to another unit first and gain some experience?
Have an Interview with Mayo Clinic Rochester next week in the ICU. This video was amazing thank you so much. Will definitely circle back around if a job offer comes knocking on my door :)
@@NurseKaylana Update: I was offered a position in the CVICU at Mayo and I accepted!!! The questions were definitely behavioral based questions. They also provided scenarios and asked me to prioritize the patients. I literally asked them EVERY question that you noted to ask the interviewer lol. She kept saying 'great questions wow!' Thank you again for this great video!! It helped me prepare sooooo muchhh.
I am in my last semester of nursing school and I have an interview for ICU as a new grad in a little over a week. Thank you for this very informative and well done video!
Can you provide advice for an RN returning to the bedside after 3 years off? I have two years of Med Surg from 2015 to 2017 and 4 months in PCU. I worked a temp job in PCU during the pandemic. I really don't want to get stuck in M/S. I do have gaps in employment but I took time off for school and family things. Anyway, my long-term goal is AGAC-NP. What can I do to get back on track so I can succeed in my career goals?
please do a video on how to get into the icu from being a new grad nurse...ill be graduating in December 2022 and would love to go into the icu right away. thank you! also do you think its a good idea to look into icu residency programs?
Will do! ICU residency programs as in for new grads? Absolutely. You need a unit that actually wants to teach new nurses and has made a special attempt to understand how to without scaring you off.
I am heading into4th Semester of Nursing School. I am Not sure what I want thank You for being awesome can you teach Critic al Thinking? fourth semester is critical care at My university
Your first ICU internship? I'm sorry it's not working out and I hope these help you prepare for your interviews. I'm genuinely interested in hearing what they're asking these days if you want to come back and let me know. Good luck!
Did your second attempt work out? I went straight to ICU residency straight out of school and I had a horrible experience and a terrible preceptor so I've been in Dialysis the last 7 seven years. Now seven years later I'm going to give it another shot. Hopefully this time it's a better experience.
I am applying to nursing school and my plan from day one was to become a CRNA. What would you say is the best critical care unit to work to better prepare you for CRNA school. I would want the sickest of the sickest patients.
If you want sickest of the sick, I would say CVICU. Not sure if you have a lot of options of hospitals in your area, but look into the cardiac services the hospital offers. I say this because I worked at a level 2 that did heart/lung transplants, ECMO, VADs, etc. while the level 1 across the street didn't. Both the biggest hospitals in my area. I plan to include this question in an upcoming Q&A video and will include other ICUs that are still beneficial because you can still get some crazy sick patients in other ICUs.
It really depends on you and the unit. I don't believe in working your way up (if you can handle the learning curve and the stress). I think the unit also needs to be supportive of new grads. They have to have preceptors that are patient and actually want to teach a new nurse. As an ICU nurse, you'll float to lower acuity floors and other than time management (juggling multiple patients), you wouldn't be missing anything IMO.
This has been the most helpful video I’ve ever seen about nurse interviews and for the icu speciality!! Thank you so so much! I sent off some apps so now I’m just hoping for a call back to schedule an interview ..fingers crossed!
I'm glad it helped! I think your chances are especially good right now since ICUs are starting to drown because of this recent surge. Good luck on your interview :)
@@Hannah-xg2xq Having a chemistry background is impressive and it gives the impression you will be able to understand the pharmacology of the drugs. I wouldn't take it off but - of course - don't mention CRNA :)
@hannah I can't find the specific comment about getting the interview but I'm so happy for you. Let me know your experience during the interview. Good luck and congratulations!
@@NurseKaylana oh sorry!! I must have accidentally deleted it! I spent all day studying medicines, icu gtt’s and brushing up on cardiac surgery! Cannot wait. Thank you for all your advice your video is honestly the best one on YT for interview advise!!
Could you make a video the focuses on general nursing questions they might ask us along with general ICU questions? Thank you for already going over things we need to be familiar with for an ICU interview.
Learning different experiences offers general knowledge on what to expect in various case scenarios. This will definitely helpful in an interview/discussion as well as for a new nurse seeking to work on the floor & how to navigate working towards to their future goals❤
