Just discovered your channel and I absolutely love it! Seeing the magic of the world of classical music touch people is beautiful as a listener and performer myself. If I have one suggestion it would be to not ignore classic wind band music. It's relatively recent as far large ensemble music is concerned, but the impact it has had on our society and the amount of hidden gems you can find is enormous. I HIGHLY recommend the following works: -Gustav Holst's 1st and 2nd Suites for military band -Percy Grainger's Lincolnshire Posy and Shepherd's Hey, two of my absolute favorites -Richard Wagner's Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral. This is one of the rare pieces I consider to be absolutely perfect. PLEASE do yourself a favor and listen!! As far as orchestral stuff I can recommend, definitely check out the works of Lili Boulanger, specifically her D'un Matin de Printemps and D'un Soir Triste. I've seen your Tchaikovsky 6 reaction, and people will likely mention his 5th, but don't sleep on his 2nd Symphony. I just played it myself and it's fantastic. For some extra Russian spice, I also highly recommend Shostakovitch's 10th. :) I hope you (and the comment section) enjoys these suggestions, they're just fantastic pieces all around. Looking forward to future reactions man, keep it up!
Yeah, this piece does look difficult and is very very difficult, Alkan was cooking with this one And i think Scherzo Focoso is one of the best to introduce Alkan, it's quite fun to listen to it. If i would recommend another Alkan piece, it would be Le festin d'ésope (with Jack Gibbons performance)
You should definitely react to saint saens 3rd symphony "organ". Its amazing and very unique Btw, ive played this piece, and it is definitely a solid 9😅
I watched this exact recording just yesterday. I don't listen to Alkan often. As for difficulty, I'm not a good/expert pianist but in my opinion this piece is extremely difficult, maybe 9/10 or 10/10. Also, you should listen to Liszt's galop in A minor if you haven't already :)
Definitely 10/10 difficulty. At least haha. Im a conservatory trained pianist who has played Gaspard de la nuit, and I don't know if I dare to try this.
Suggestion for new piece to react to: try Brahms’ Rhapsody for Alto, Chorus and Orchestra (op. 58). Do yourself a favor and listen to that piece. Its a little known gem that will enrich your life!
