Had I not found those supplies in my utility room, my sun room would have been completely ruined. It mostly held until the back half of the storm hit. But it did save my room. THose are great items to have on hand.

Good morning - another great video. A good way to use some of the items from Dollar Tree is to make a 'kit' for your car. Keeping a few basic tools and supplies with you is always a good idea. I keep scissors, tape, a few hygiene items, extra sweatshirt and blanket and some first aid supplies. They should have the large prayer candles for $1.25... they are in a glass jar. I also stock pile the bandaids and cosmetic wipes, and rubbing alcohol for quick emergency kits. Exacto knives are very useful as well. . If not at DT Walmart carries them in craft dept.

I like the Reynolds wrap 25 pack of pre-cut sheets that they have. There is no waste because there is no pulling off too much from the roll. Works good for a single person but I'm not so sure about having to use a bigger piece for a family. Probably not a good deal for them. The foil pans are a good deal. You're correct about that. They are about 1/3 of the price compared to Kroger. Thank you for all you do for us Danno!

I mark the month and year of Best Buy on all my canned goods, dry goods, etc. It makes it easier to check the dates than searching for the tiny date on the packaging each time you’re adding new preps. I use 3 of those aluminum loaf pans when I make banana nut bread. A 2 full loaf recipe makes 3 of the small ones. By the way those potato gnocchi is pronounced “nyolkey”. I used herb and garlic seasoning on potatoes cut in bite sized chunks put in a casserole dish with butter or margarine. Microwave covered 5 minutes, stir, cook about 2 more minutes or until cooked.

Hi Danno and Jess! I think some things that are good to have on hand in a case of an emergency are bottled water, batteries, canned food like tuna, chicken, soup, beans, corn, and peas, I also would have bandages, rubbing alcohol, tape, hand sanitizer, scissors, blankets, and sweatshirts.

our dollar tree carries an off brand of Sterno - fire in a can. it's with the catering stuff. I think it burns for 2 hours. YUP... I'm that guy who still has a sterno stove. not so good for cooking, but great for keeping things hot, like COFFEE.

I was looking for larger size bandages and couldn't find any so I bought the really thin sanitary pads at dollar store. I am always trying to think outside the box on multi use products. Mornin Danno great video and pointing out the pro’s snd con’s on some of the items was a very good idea!! Those gloves you pointed out are a great buy and can be used for all kinds of needs and I agree even a cheap tool can be a life saver when it’s needed ! You can coat the cotton that comes in many vitamin and medicine bottles take the cotton and pull it apart in smaller sections and coat it in petroleum jelly and it’s a great fire starter and burns long enough to get a good fire started and a empty medicine bottle can be filled up with the jelly coated cotton balls and kept with 1 or 2 Bic lighters taped to the outside of the bottle for a ready made fire starter kit and stored in a ziplock baggie and matches are something we will all need at times!! ! In case of power outages keep 4-5 clay pots with matching saucers on hand and some low profile candles stored with them and in cold weather you can put the candle in the center of saucer and turn the clay pot upside down with hole on top , the pots will heat up and put off heat and light to help keep you warm and have light in the dark! When going thru drive thru buying food ask for extra ketchup, sauces , mustard , mayo , Honey or syrup packets , soy sauce , S&P , extra napkins and extra straws , take home and put in baggies , they don’t require refrigeration and will help make your food taste better and save you money! Also at dollar tree they have tarps not the best quality but tarps non the less , tarps are always good to have on hand for many things , shelter, broken windows, help keep you warm when wrapped around you , drag things on , keep fire wood dry, so many things!! Learn to can/cook those beans... Here is a recipe from my Grandmother who had seven children and still lives on her farm at 90 years old. Cowboy Beans 1 Can Kidney Beans 2 Cans Baked Beans 1 Can Lima Beans 1 Can Black Beans 1 Can Great Northern Beans Drain all well or cook up a variety of dry beans and drain. 1 Pound Hamburger 1 Onion - diced 1 Green Pepper Brown and Drain Mix: 2 Cups Ketchup (she spelled it Catsup 💕 both are accurate) 2 Cups Brown Sugar 2 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce 2 Tablespoon Vinegar 4 Tablespoons Mustard Put all ingredients in a crockpot. Cook for 4 hours or bake at 350 F for 2 hours. A can of tuna in oil works better than the toilet paper roll with alcohol plus you get dinner out of it. Enjoy!

Dollar Tree does have some good stuff if you watch what you are getting.

The Knorr sides are GREAT. I can make a couple of meals with one packet. A quick meal for me is one packet of the side, any canned meat (chicken, beef or pork) and some frozen or canned veggies. I recently had an issue with my well and was without water for 3 days (foot valve rusted through). I did have water for the toilet and some bottled water for drinking and cooking. The plumbers did get my water up and running after replacing the pump and piping going into the well. and a few days later replaced the pressure tank, filter system and hot water heater which I had originally scheduled to have done. Before the scheduled work was done the water was extremely utensils

Extra boot laces are a must.

We don't drink a lot of milk, but I always stock up on the Modern pantry brand milk! I love that stuff, after we have cereal I try to use the rest as creamer or for baking. Very much worth stocking up on! The little domino sugar for those times you forget to pick up suagr at the store, place some in your pantry for those times.

Jessica buy some of those clear over the door shoe holders. And store food in them. They are clear and you will always see what you have and they take up no space

The large glass candles that have religious pictures burn for 60 hours and I have tested them . That is a good deal. Other places sell them for more money.

I used the puck lights under my pantry shelves, so if lights go out, I can still find the food I need. I also placed one in each bathroom. I have been saving the tarps. They're 4 X 6 (I think) and I can imagine using them for all sorts of things. I also buy the matches and lighters. You can also use cotton balls or cotton pads for fire starting. Clean out your skillet with one, and use that to start a fire. I used the oblong plastic containers (without the lids) for putting my seed-starting projects in. They're tall enough that I can pour the water into when watering.

When it comes to candles they get emergency candles that burn for like 6hr. And they come in a 6pack.

Use liquid bandage instead of superglue. I understand emergencies are emergencies though.

I had a minor emergency last night. After doing some neglected weeding, I broke out in such intense itching all over me. It was maddening. I found the last bottle of "Benadryl". There was one dose left and I took it. Replacing this with two bottles is my number one thing to do today. I had an off brand but it worked in about 15 minutes. Diphenhydramine is the generic name.

Take cotton balls and roll in Vaseline. Wrap in small foil packs. They make excellent fire starters. Just puncture the foil, pull out a small amt of cotton and light.

I had a water problem yesterday and was glad I had water put back to do up a few dishes and drinking water in fridge .

My number one item from Dollar Tree+ is their Cheaters (reading glasses). I have lots & in strengths stronger than what I wear, just in case. I also get my glass bottles with the flip top lids there for making extracts (when they have them). Thanks 👍

A tip when you bring your goods in mark on top or front of item the Best Buy date. Makes sorting your canned goods so much easier.

Buy shelf stable milk , dump into bag of cereal breakfast on the go. I did this for my college students. The milk and cereal fit under the bed and throw a milk in mini dorm fridge before bed. Your all set.

Great video, Danno! Yes, I love your new format! You can find good quality tools and candles at some yard sales and thrift shops. Paper towel, toilet paper holders, and cotton balls make great fire starters. When you get ready to light, put a dab of Vaseline. It works great. Blessings from East Tennessee.💕

Glow sticks are nice for kids at night also. Garbage bags I get cheaper at Wally world. The tealights work in mini campstove also. I do some otc there stuff we don't use often so smaller amount is fine. We really like the dishwasher and laundry pods. The Brunswick packs are tasty.

Those Dino Buddies (chicken nuggets) are a big hit with the kiddos. I would love to see what you make with the Knorr noodles and chicken. I've never had those noodles. Those religious candles use to be twice as fat when they were a buck. That sure was a well stocked Dollar Tree.

If you drop a glow stick down inside a empty gallon jug it really intensifies the light.

It is good to get a few extra fingernail clippers and toenail clippers. Should we experience a major "whatever" finger and toenails won't stop growing and they are all made in China.

At the $Tree they sell Liquid Skin where the bandages and first aid kits are. The super glue, I always get the 4 single use packs. I have always had an issue with the normal size tubes getting hard or can remove the pins or the cap glues on. The single use tubes is no waste for me. I have a fewnof those 4 packs in my prep pantry. The candle area, I buy the o es that are mason jars. They can well. I empty the wax out, melt it and pour it into other glass jars put in a new wic. I get all the same scent. Sterilize the jars and lids and either pressure can or waterbath food so it doesn't need refrigeration.

just to let you know here in Canada today the canada bread company was charged 50 million, that's right 50 million for price fixing. Tomorrow 5 grocery stores have been looked into. Wow I think everyone in the food industry should be looked at for price fixing.

Funny you would mention the toilet paper rolls for fire starters. My sister came over and laughed about me saving my toilet paper rolls. I just told, better to be prepared than need it and not have it.

Stock up on over the counter, dental hygiene products, feminine products, medical supplies, learn about supplements as health care, do not forget stomach digestion aides.....

Great video! Dollar tree is still my go-to for great prepping deals! My local Sam’s club in both Canton and Akron have not had any members mark pasta…even for delivery!!! It’s our favorite and my stockpile is being depleted while I wait for them to come back in stock. It’s been months!!!

Dollar Tree has shelf stable milk, i have a bunch, but they dont last long.

If it's in the budget, it's worth investing in a camping light and batteries. Candles don't give off much light, they're harder to carry around in the dark, and if the power is out during the summer that flame makes it hotter.

I have several of those small flashlights and they are great! I have at least one in every room as well as in my car. I mainly use them while I light candles and to find the matches, etc. If you can find the duo-light ones (my store has been out for a while), they are really good. DT also has head lamps (or they used to) that work pretty well. A tip: for anything that runs on batteries I keep the batteries in a zip lock bag taped to the device. That way, if the batteries corrode, it won't mess up the device.

The flip switch led lights are a good deal already have batteries. I have them inside closets that have no lights and in bathrooms that have no windows. And the tall prayer candles are very good, have used them. And in an off grid you might not want scented candles.
