Many thanks Andrew Griffiths for this video. Four years old but still catchy. Looking forward for more videos. All the best.

Thank you for this. I'm looking for a Transalp right now and I like your mods. I appreciate that you named them so I know what to look for!

Hello Simon, just a heads up on the Bagster tank bag that features in my video....it was not a good choice and broke soon into my trip. A far better option would be S W Motech's Yukon 130 (which I have fitted now) or anything from Enduristan. My transalp is still going strong.... 53,000 miles now so a good bet.

If your in Canada I will part with my 1987 Transalp . 142,000 kms on it and still runs and looks great .

Such an excellent bike condition. I'm also an XL650V owner, but your bike looks amazing.

Hi Zoltan, the bike is a lot more dirty now I can assure you.....the bike is 10 years old now but was in very good condition when I bought used. 8000 plus miles riding in the US and it's looking a bit rough.

Thank you for your video, Andrew. I agree with Brian: sensible, nice equipped and trustfull bike. I just got myself one. Wish you nice and safe trip! No doubt that TA650 will do the job. Keep us posted. ;)

Hello Andrew - Wonderfull! Very inspiring. Long MC trips with medium size realistic bikes are in short supply on youtube and forums. Tons of big bikes on big budgets or small bikes on a daring budget. I'm not keen on any of them. Your trip seems inline with my options. I dream about taking that grand America-tour like yours. I have a Transalp. And a normal mid income. Looking forward to hear more from you and se more from your trip. Thank you in advance, Brian

hi Brian, thanks for your comment , I'm now on the road having left from New York yesterday and can say the bike is doing well . the transalp is a proven machine that has taken people around the world so I'm fairly confident that it will cope.

Did you drill out the handlebars or just got replacement handlebars to mount the handguards?

Hello, I hope the trip went well. I want to buy the hand guards but I am wondering if they will touch the windshield

Where did you get the bash plate? Looks pretty tough.
@MrPainter1072
@MrPainter1072 7 лет назад
Cacko garage shop eBay. Think they are based in Poland. I can confirm very well made and sturdy. I'm in Mexico at the moment and the bash plate is getting a good thumping everyday on the many speed bumps they have here....its holding up very well and has saved the bike without doubt.

Is there a way to raise the front fender a little?
@MrPainter1072
@MrPainter1072 4 года назад
It can be done I believe...I think I remember reading about someone who did it. Wasn't an issue for me and the space between the wheel and mudguard never clogged with mud.

Did u make the trip?
@MrPainter1072

Yes I finished the trip 31,000 miles and 13 countries. I flew the Transalp back to the UK in Jan 2019....and yes it took me that long. The Transalp was and still is amazing and I'm still using it today as my runaround in the Uk it has about 53,000 miles on the clock now. The only thing that went wrong with the bike the whole trip was that the rear shock blew a seal and dumped all its oil but this was an aftermarket YSS shock and not Honda OEM....so I can confirm a bulletproof bike and I would without doubt take the same bike again. Yes there are better bikes around now but all things considered its perfect...cheap to buy, dependable and will take two people with a load around the world.
