What is a piece of clothing in your closet you could bring back to life with natural dye?

Thank you for the wonderful information you shared! A couple questions for you. First, I boiled black walnuts in water & have that in a jug, vould I use that for the tannin soak? Second, can you use the alum soak cold or does it have to be boiled with the fabric?

Can I skip alium, or can I replace it with something else?

if you skip alum the color won't be as permanent. it can wash out or fade in the sun. there are other mordants you can use like iron, but they usually produce different colors.
