is there a follow up video discussing the trip? Was 65 too heavy? Anything you really missed or didn't use?

This is the kind of channel that just blows up one day. I really like what you're doing. Once you figure out how to harness the google algorithms, you'll be set. Thanks for making these.

I deleted the comment previously about the gear weight. I am starting into backpacking and would like to plan a hunting trip someday in the future God Willing! backpacking just to hike is different than to go hunting, however the gears I am buying are super light for backpacking; when I started buying gears one of the first sets I bought was the Eberlestock Skycrane J79 pack with scabbard and extras like duffle bag and the little brother; awesome pack but it all weights close to 12 pounds empty! I am about 195 now 5'3 planning on being in better shape by the time going if it happens so one should carry 20% of your total weight which for me it means right now 49 pounds! now if I would take my favorite rifle; Browning Medallion 300 WinMag at about 10 pounds + ammo that alone is like 22-25 pounds; my gear for another 25 pounds would be 15 pounds of food and water (consumable) for say 5 days and it leaves me with 10 pounds of gear to carry; not enough even buying the lightest things out there and the priciest which I have been doing for some time now; I would be right about 60 pound which it would be kind of hard to haul for me if I drop weight back to 160-170 pounds like I am planning! I have been looking to buy a Kimber rifle which is really light at about 6-7 pounds with good scope in .308 caliber; it is the Montana 84M for that dream hunt that may help to shed about 5 to 6 pounds off the weight; the thing with the WinMag is it is lefty as I am and the stock is perfectly fitted to my body LOP, I bought it and fully customized for me to shoot well with it but if I could get the Montana between now and then I would probably leave behind the Browning. For binos I got me already the Swarovski CL Pocket 10x25 and I love those! I also picked a Range Finder Leupold RX-1200i TBR on sale real cheap but don't know if I would use it or if it would be useful on the field. I do not have a spotting scope yet. Your load up seems really nice! Hope you have a blast!

the amount of energy you use while hiking doesn't increase very much until you surpass 30% of your body weight, also remember that it depends how far you have to hike to your hunting camp if it's less than 5 miles or so you could carry considerably more than 30% of your body weight. remember that most of your gear will stay at you camp while your hunting (tent, food, sleep system, etc) so your pack during the days will much lighter.

That is true. Something that I overlooked..normally I am thinking of hikes of about 8 to10miles a day to camp, stay the night and return next day to where I park, I would like to do a series of those with a weight of about 30 pounds and under to see how I do before packing for hunting, which would probably need a load around 45 to 60 pounds, no counting game if have to take back, I have been also thinking in getting wheels for this too, but hikingit in and out it is more beneficial for health. I just ordered a Kimber Montana 84M on .308 inspired by watching some hunting packing preps, I am sure my 300WM would be plenty for anything but it also weights 10 pounds unloaded, it would be a better candidate fit for wheels on the field, nothaving to sling it on my back, unless I could carry a day pack with needs under 10 pounds or so..

which rain jacket from sitka is that? Did you like it for the cost as well? I am looking at the cloudburst jacket

That's the cloudburst stuff. I really like it. Light and packable and still tough enough for mountain hunting. We had to wear rain gear for 9 out of 10 days on our sheep hunt. We stayed dry the whole time.
