I cherish listening to Sally. She’s a gift, a beautiful personality and very wise. I can’t wait for the BPN feature video of this race !! Great podcast Nick 🙏🏻
Very engaging conversation. Getting a precise download of Sally's mindset is always inspiring. There's a lot of truth in the comment about videos emboldening people to try bigger and tougher things. Videos like both Nick's and Sally's, inspired and encouraged me to do Cocodona a few weeks ago, and I couldn't be more grateful. Much respect for showing the rest of the world what's possible. I don't watch every single video from either of you, but I don't miss a single one when you're together. There's an unspoken understanding between people with shared experience that really shines through.
this podcast made me stop in my tracks and listen. i love you both so much, you guys are so inspiring and always seriously know how to say things. your boundaries portion of the podcast spoke to me ❤ love you sally and nick!!!
Sally’s been a friend and mentor to me since she ran WS the first time 10 yrs ago. So excited for her and so excited you’re going to be out there. Hope to meet you
Great interview. First time I’ve heard Sally speak - love the stuff about beating your weaknesses, I will be challenging mind harder than currently thanks to this video. Thank you 🙏
Both of you are amazing and inspirational. Both of you have changed my life and the way I train; and what’s more, you’ve reinforced that the way I have trained and coached and continue to do so, is a legit way to both stay fit and to prioritize multiple disciplines and to have fun while continuing to work hard. That said, I am sorry to say that this podcast turned into an ego stroking ping pong match that seemed to lack actual content. You both have so much to offer. But in my opinion this just wasn’t it.
I absolutely love when you have Sally on. There’s just something about the convo between you two that just makes for wonderful content and lessons. Thank you for having her on again!
The acknowledgement that at times it is so lonely and hard, showing up day after day, doing the work to follow our own path... I feel seen! Thank you Sally. You are from another realm!!
I am SooOooOoo OBSESSED with this BADASS, STRING, and BEAUTIFUL lady. Thank you 🙏 Nick for having Sally back on the Pod! Can’t wait to see Yellowrunner shine at Western States 🏃♀️ 💪 🥭 💛
People pleaser/yes man here. I've only very recently (at 39 years old) started really trying to find what I'm meant to do. I've had to set some boundaries and stand up for myself in some uncomfortable situations with people very close to me. Though it has been terrifying and uncomfortable at times, it has also been immensely beneficial.
Yo can you explain what your gear stack is... how are you running so much and keeping that much muscle mass... don't give me some "chicken and broccoli and count your macros " bulkshit
It's so interesting learning the vastly different approaches between Sally and Courtney. Highly calculated versus highly intuitive approaches, each very effective/successful.
I NEEDED TO HEAR THIS SALLY! BE PATIENT IN YOUR WEAKNESS!!!!!!!!!!! This calf tear came at the absolute WORST TIME EVER 3 weeks out from my first ultra. I am angry, I am heartbroken, and I'm so freaking HURT. And I've been so HARD on myself. Thank you for turning the light on for me. Loved this podcast. ❤
Belief fosters ability. You won’t run a 6:30/mile for a half marathon when you start training, but belief that you will one day (patience, pressure, time) cultivates your body’s ability to do so…if you’re willing to make the sacrifices.
Why don't you use an inhaler during a race? I have allergy induced asthma. Use the inhaler only before a run in the Spring. It's albuterol which is lab made adrenaline. ❤
@@nataliewood4499 I was talking about Nick’s comment. It will blow his mind. I’ve been out to pace and crew 2x and it blew my mind. I’ve now worked for 9 years to get in the race and I am now finally able to run it.
@@nataliewood4499 I was referring to the comment to Nick - yes WS will blow your mind when you experience it for the first time. I have paced and crewed twice and finally after 9 years of waiting I am now able to run the race.
I think Sally needs to convince herself she is an underdog because that motivates her. But she’d be crazy to think ppl don’t anticipate a top 10. She is clearly a top 10 finisher.
@@KTravRuNEr Fair enough. But a rising tide carries all boats. She didn’t need to break 20 to be top 10 before. Faster women make faster women. She will hold her own and rise to the occasion. My guess would certainly be top 10.
Over the past 2 years since starting running distance, I have leaned on these two so much. Every video, every podcast. Some people just have that IT FACTOR. That drive, that motivation, that confidence, that grind. Nobody can give you that, you have to find it inside of you. And these two absolutely have that. The true definition of “Mamba Mentality”.
I'm glad you are still in charge of BPN, Nick. I love your product and would hate to have seen it change in a bad way with private equity involved, as often happens to great businesses. Going one more in New Mexico...
Powerful, life-changing content. And it is universally applicable. Especially the advice to sit with ones weaknesses in patience and to view “failure” from another perspective. Thanks 🙏
I was SO EXCITED to see this episode pop up! Sally is so inspiring, I could listen to her talk all day! I'm looking forward to Western States like people look forward to the Superbowl. I'll be praying for a strong day for Sally and everyone on her team.
Will be interesting to see how Sally does at WS with all the super slow races she’s done. She mentioned the race has changed. Not really. The woman are faster and better and you gotta break 20 hours for top ten now. Wish her the best.
Best podcast to date bro!!! Running 11 miles next after losing 22 million is so boss!!!! No money can replace that type of determination!!!! Go one more!!!!
I love y'alls friendship. You're both so knowledgeable and positive that the conversations are always really great with some really good nuggets of info and inspiring quotes 🙌🏻💪🏻🏃🏼♀️
Selfishness is a funny thing. Only thinking about yourself is selfish, but living in service to other people is also selfish. It is just a higher, more refined version of selfishness. In the sense that serving others makes you feel better about yourself. I think the least selfish thing that a person can do, although it sounds very instagram wisdom, is to live the most authentic version of ones self. There is nothing that a person can do that is ultimately not self serving, so you might as well just do your dance and if it benefits somebody else-great!
