Let me know the ways I should be using the wood ash we're saving from all of our wood stove fires. Thanks so much for watching!

I love watching Mark work! ha ha! I recommend testing your soil before adding ashes, to make sure you actually need them. A basic soil test kit can be purchased anywhere they sell garden supplies.

I'm sure there are many uses for wood ask but I use it to build healthier soil. Your wood stoves should work well now with all that creosote is gone. Nice job on building the wall and insulating the solar/batteries, Mark. As a suggestion, you could use the same OSB board as trim to keep the look uniform. I like the video voice over explanations as you go. Nice touch and great job getting things done 👍

Thanks and good idea about the trim!

Checkout the gold rods the fishermen use to keep their boats not hot but to keep their boats from freezing in winters coldest mos just a heat tape to invade batteries with

Great job on battery room. Recommend taking fire extinguisher out of that room. If something catches fire in there, to get it be bad.

@@thehomeintent. While I think your voice is decent it is much of a monotone ,there is little enthusiasm in your voice. The video content is good and I won’t stop watching your videos just because of your voice but if you improve ,your subscriptions will improve. I mean this criticism to be constructive not mean in any way, you seem to be an interesting and capable couple. My wish for you is success, happiness and good health. Your closet was a great idea you took an area that was a bit of eyesore and made it into a very useful closet.

Pioneers used wood ash with lard or tallow to make soap.

Was the white stuff also part of the criosol (I probably spelled this wrong)?
@thehomeintent

Creosote is dark and kind of like tar. The whiter stuff is ash. 😊

combustible materials, wood- work, unprotected walls, furniture, firewood, etc., should be no closer than 36 inches to a wood stove. A stove pipe should not be closer than 18 inches to an unprotected ceiling. Do your homework, before the cold arrives.

Also be very careful with placing can of wood ash on your porch if any live coals in it. Could be tipped over by animal or wind and burn cabin down.
