It is very common for preparedness minded people to put back equipment and gear for use in bad times. However, many of these products are insufficient for their planned usage or even outright defective. It is critical that we test our equipment out ahead of time to ensure it works for our needs.

Agreed. We HAVE to use our equipment BEFORE SHTF. Not only do we need to know that it actually works but also that we have a durable product. We have to be careful because there are a lot of companies out there just looking to make a buck, not looking to make a good equipment.

Maybe try a plastic 5 gallon bucket with a 1/2 galvanized iron pipe maybe 4 inches long tapped in the bottom center of the bucket . Then put a cutoff valve on that Then you add a 2 inch piece of pipe and a shower head. Install a 2×4 cross piece permanently over your shower stall to hang your bucket on. You could lower your bucket low enough with a rope to fill it and raise it back high enough to be overhead when in use. You could also heat water hot enough in a big pot on a wood fire mix it with a little colder water in your shower bucket to get the temperature just like you want it. All this could be done with PVC also.I hope this helps. Be well my friend.

Just RU-vid search bucket showers. Alot of videos on different styles of homemade bucket showers. This may be a cheaper more permanent solution.

@@wadepurvis3086 Thank you. I have ideas similar to this, just haven't gotten around to making it. The shower bags aren't perfect, but at least work. Where I have many systems that aren't working for me and am trying to prioritize getting them figured out.

You've got more guts than I do. Would be nice to see a video on why you decided this lifestyle was for you.

@@vernonland5987 That's a wonderful video idea. I'll do that as soon as I get the chance. Thank you for the suggestion.

I may have missed it but what solar if any do you have and what do you use it for?
@TheBackwoodsHermit
@TheBackwoodsHermit Месяц назад
@@Rachel.long1965 All I've had so far is a Bluetti solar generator with the folding panels. It works well enough for keeping small devices charged like my phone, electric toothbrush, rechargeable lanterns, drill batteries, etc. For running higher draw power tools like a circular saw, I need to fire up a gas generator.

Very valuable information! And same things goes for prepper food storage. Make sure it's what you want, not what you think you might want, and make sure it's of the best quality you can comfortably afford. And then store it as if it's gold. I hope you get a good shower soon, Steve. 😉

@@AlasBabylon1 Exactly right. Food is a big one. "Store what you eat and eat what you store."

It’s always disappointing to get a poorly made product and have to scrap it right away. I’ll bet once you get a more permanent shower setup, it’ll drastically improve your off grid experience. A good night’s sleep and a good shower are two luxuries that I’ve found make a huge difference in this lifestyle.

@@miscellaneousme You're absolutely right. Although I do rather enjoy outdoor showers during these hot summer months. Something about the natural breeze hitting you while you dry is pretty soothing.
