This pattern is from Open Gate Quilts Shop, not only does Monique of Open Gate Quilts have amazing patterns, but she also curates my favorite subscription box! Check it out here! www.opengatequilts.com/opengatequiltssubscriptionbox
I discovered your video just today and unfortunately that link no longer works. Do you have a current link for that pattern? I have a bunch of shirts from my late father, and would love to turn them into memory quilts for my sons, and my nieces and nephews. Thank you so much for explaining how to break down the dress shirt. There is a ton of fabric on each of these and I think I have enough to do six quilts.
@@lindakeirstead5078 www.opengatequilts.com/shop/free-patterns I am so sorry to hear of your father’s passing. This is a lovely pattern and I am sure you will enjoy using it to make your memory quilts.
I made my sister-in-law a throw from her father's shirts. At first, I was really intimidated. I did not want to ruin what was left of his shirts and none matched. 😕But I did it I had adjusted a few things, but it came out absolutely beautiful. I was very excited about the way it turned out. Pattern easy to follow.
Thank you for sharing this Memory Quilt Idea. It is one of the best that I have seen, using this type of shirt. Loved seeing it with different sashing colors. Your beautiful quilts will be treasured by the family members.
You're welcome! I love finding new patterns that are not only easy, but also free! It's the perfect combination! Thanks for coming to the live I did with Sean!
What kind of quilting pattern would you suggest for a newbie? LOVE this pattern and I'm in the process of preparing shirts to do this, but I'm a little confused about the actual quilting part, and I can't make it out in the video.
Love these. I have shirt/tops for my parents I have been wanting to do. This has inspired me. Already printed off the pattern from Open Gate. Thanks for sharing these-I like them all, but I like the black the best. It makes the blocks really pop.
I liked the grey best. I wonder what they would look like if you used both Grey and black sashing to created a window box affect. You know like T-shirt quilts you might of seen.
I just love your quilts. Can you give the three sizes of the squares and rectangle you used to make this pattern. For some reason I'm not able to download it. Thanks.
Did you skip the outside border? Also, your quilt looks like the accent pieces are larger than the pattern? I'm trying to copy this as a gift for our Grandpa who passed away.... more specific instructions would be great! I've looked at the link you shared...
How many shirts did you need to make the 4 quilts? I'm not making memory quilts. I want to make "masculine" quilts from thrift store shirts into 45" by 6o" wheelchair lap robes for my doctor's homebound and hospice patients. (My current stash is more for women and children. lol)
Hi there! These quilts are beautiful! I love the sashing on them, it pulls all of the patterns together! Unfortunately, I couldn't find the pattern using your link. I am completely brand new with any kind of quilting, but my mother passed away, and I want to make one just like the ones you've made here! Would you be able to direct me to any other tutorials or patterns on how to make these exact ones?
Here is the pattern I used. It is still on the website they just made some updates and the same link I used doesn’t work anymore. www.opengatequilts.com/shop/free-patterns I am so sorry to hear about your mother.
@Sew Be It Quilts As far as the actual quilting goes, I can't quite make out where you did the stitching, other than the main rows. Did you just outline the squares? I absolutely love this quilt and it seems fairly straightforward for a beginner like me. I'm just stumped as to the actual quilting on it?
Hi again, I'm slowly working my way through this pattern, and I do keep referring back to this video, I can't thank you enough for showing this pattern...and it just occurred to me that you didn't do an outer border on yours, did you? It looks like just binding...or am I not reading this pattern correctly?
I used the link for the PDF but it returned a "not found" error message. Could you please send me an undated link? Or maybe the PDF file? I have never attempted to make a quilt and I need all the help I can get!!!! LOL.
