Prepping for Factorum and the All New Contact Update in Space Engineers In a New Playthrough!

We are getting started in an All New Playthrough in Space Engineers in preparation for the new Contact Update and the Factorum faction which will bring a load of new gameplay options through New Parts and Encounters!
I've prerecorded 8 episodes of this new Space Engineers gameplay series, so make sure to turn on notifications because they will be coming out fast. Likely more than one a day leading up to the Contact update on Monday October 14th so we can hit the ground running!

Glad to see you jumping back into SE Bob 💖 I heard Pertam is one of the hardest vanilla planets to start on, seems to lack a lot of Ice - Never tried it myself though.

@@SurvivalBobGaming Yep, only space! and the textures was cheap at best, and it was only ion thrusters etc.. But they have improved greatly over the years!

I’m enjoying it. If you already own it, they are having another free update Monday so you may want to give it a go. I find it really helps to have a plan which is not something I usually do in a game. lol

Something I'd add that might not seem obvious is to always try to dig at an angle, that way you don't fluff yourself deep in a hole because you whoopsied on energy levels.

Voxel Transport would make mining easier in the form of, it brings the materials to your base to be drilled in a 5 square block area of your choice. Destroys the voxels where it pulled it, and gives you a scanner to locate the ore voxels with that you can link to your ore detector on your vehicle. Takes 20.power cells to transport, and you'll need at least a large cargo to store the ore after drilling

@@SurvivalBobGaming ive been using it. Ive found it easier to deal with over nanobot drill and fill. Its expensive enough to build to not feel cheaty to me as Super Conductors are kinda tough. Needs 100. The 20 power cells per transport is kinda nice cost wise too. If you do use it, it creates its own data pads. Less chance for failure of transport if your with in 50 meters of the ore on scan too. Chance of failure to transport is high at 150 meters though. Still costs the power cells for every attempt to transport

personally i find titan as a good start, no breathable air but you can run windmills and use atmo at a reduced rate.. gravity well is tiny and you exit the atmoshere about 300m above surface. is pretty flat and has everything but platnium and uranium but you can find them in asteroid rocks on the surface occasionally

I moved it to live stream for a few weeks. Then did expedition went fishing and then had a hurricane and no power for a week. I'll go back to the live streams again now that things are settling, no more edited vids though. They take too long to get anything new done once you are as far in as I am.

Old saves may not work alongside the new update. They currently have the official servers were wiped and are offline for this exact reason. Just wanted to give you the heads up about it. Save those BPs! lol

@@zorion5934 Old saves might be fine. Keen would have probably said something if they were not. And the most likely reason they took official servers offline was for one, to upgrade them. The current servers are not powerful enough to handle any form of global encounters. And two, to give everyone who plays them equal footing. Imagine you just started playing on an official right after the update. Well, if everyone still had all their progress those people could just jump their ships to take every encounter before you could even get a jump drive together.

Just need a remote control and a gyro. I showed it in the video. It's actually pretty hard to control without moving the thrusters around which is why I was going so slow. you have to lean it to change directions.
