I don't mean to be a downer but I want you to be safe out on the road. I wouldn't rely on the 4" sewer bumper for strength. I have seen them fall off with the weight of a spare tire and bicycles. My 5th wheel with a factory rear hitch is rated for 3000 lbs. A stock 2 door Wrangler weights 3948 lbs. Another thing to check is with the weight of the Jeep you might need to also put electrically activated brakes on the Jeep. The other thing worth mentioning is you have a 3/4 ton truck. You need to look at your towing capacity and the weight capacity to make sure you have enough truck to double tow. I don't know what state you live in but you might need a special license or endorsement to double tow. I live in Michigan you must have an RV Double endorsement and safety chains attached out at the sides of the camper frame not in the center and be under 75 feet. You must also be careful all states don't allow doubles so you could be limited on states you can drive through.
Not sure the year of your truck, but if it's a '13+ and have the coil rear springs, you are most likely over your payload weight with this 5th wheel, also, you are going to be pushing the limit or over your GVWR when you add the jeep to pull. Another issue is that rear hitch you added is probably not rated high enough to pull that 3500ish jeep. I recommend you never double pull, adding another 12ft or so to the total length, not to mention the sway it will probably add, extra strain on the engine and brakes. Good luck though.
Wow, good job. I honestly can't believe you guys pulled it off. I laughed a lot, thank you 🤣. U young folks are the cutest couple. Oh, your home is lovely. I'm going to need some designer like u all to do mine ✌️😁
A couple of Question. Is your truck rated for the trailer and Jeep as combined towing weight? 2: Is it legal? 3: does your state require a special license for your rig? Just putting it out there. let us know what you find out.
Great job on setting up the camper for your daily life. I’m sure you’ve been told this many times by now but watch the amount of weight you put in the camper
Great job - but, you have a lot to learn about full-time RVing with a truck, 5th wheel and Jeep behind it. You MUST get a rear view camera so you can see what the Jeep is doing. Trust me, I know from experience of towing a boat behind an RV only to be flagged down that we had a blowout on the boat trailer and the boat was about to come off the boat trailer. There's a lot you need to know about all this. We full-time RV'd for 12 years and we have had our share of good/bad experiences out there such as scraping the whole side of a 5th wheel in a truck stop in El Paso while trying to dodge a huge pot hole. It put $15,000 worth of damage on the side of the RV. Be careful and know that you are providing us with lots of entertainment and memories. Best of luck!!
Chase, your DIY skills will be priceless in RV life. Did you secure the dog kennel to the floor? If not, it WILL bounce around in transit and possibly knock the window trim loose and/or damage the kitchen island.
I wish only the best for y'all and enjoy every moment! I love your home and am so excited to tag along 😊 Stay as y'all are and let the fun begin .... continue 😂❤
Almost instantly subscribed. I am also trying to do the RU-vid. My husband is also an electrician & we also are planning on doing RV life! So happy to of found you guys! Good luck on your adventures!❤️
You guys are awesome kids. I love your video and I'm so excited for you. My husband and I are planning on doing the same thing next year. But Chase and Darby, I'm just wondering how much research did you do. I cant believe I'm asking that seeing as you kids know everything about the internet. I've been researching going full-time for over a year now. I'm going to tell ya, one of the first things you hear from salesmen and experienced rvers. Is, "yeah there's a 3000lb hitch on the back of this 5th wheel but I'd never put anything on it but a bikerack or something. You guys are scaring us. payload that's an essential topic you need to know inside and out.. Well I wish ya'll the best. God bless ya Kim 😊
Watching from Florida. We are about to take the same journey, rent the house and go full time. Well also work remote. What is it that you do virtual work?
Have you installed a beefed up hitch on camper? Most hitches on back of trailers and 5th wheels are only rated for 300 lbs. And camper frames definitely not made strong to tow a jeep. Better just plan to drive the jeep as a separate vehicle.
I'll give you $50 if you're still double towing a year from now. Without getting into all the details of why, I really don't think you'll want to be doing it for long. Best of luck on your adventures.
