Thank you everybody!! We just all would love to have an annual calendar based on Vanessa's AND ZEPHYR's experiences! The knowledge she imparts to us is beyond soothing!!
@@themindfulnarrowboat Let us hope that you found encouragement and will proceed with the annual calendar!! I will give you my credit card information in a heartbeat!! Obviously not here!! I have purchased from you before I have been extremely pleased!!!
After a grueling day of working outside in sweltering South Carolina, USA, sitting down with a pint of Guinness and pulling up Vanessa's videos is a cool retreat indeed 😊
Your preparation for the narrowboat home’s biggest adventure is nothing short of inspiring. It’s clear that you’re not only embracing the challenges but also savoring the journey with a heart full of excitement and anticipation. Your dedication and enthusiasm shine through, making every step of this adventure truly remarkable. It's a wonderful example of how preparing for a new chapter can be just as exhilarating as the adventure itself. And I am Floating Village Life.
Vanessa, your lifestyle truly has “planetary contact” by going through all of that to print two pages. Things we take for granted… like printers in our homes. Cheers, Lutz… you know from where. :)
Another lovely story. Your photography is perhaps the best on in this medium. I was excited to see the Coots. I’ve been living on the Harringvliet in the Netherlands for 5 years in a marina, where there are many coots (and foots (Griebs). One coot couple were evicted from perches on a number of boats so I built them a floating nest platform. The first year wasn’t successful as the two chicks were blown away in a storm as they couldn’t climb up once in the water, so I modified the platform to include a ramp for the next season. The next few years were successful and I got to watch the whole coot family process. A lot of fun. That white piece on their fore head is a pad that they use to lever against to tug plants off timbers and surfaces that water weeds grow. I can tell you that they are very diligent parents.
Catching up on your Vlogs after a busy summer, loved the greedy coot and your wonderful poem. Such beautiful countryside where you were. Thank you so much. x
@@themindfulnarrowboat thank you Vanessa we have ..it seems to have gone by so quickly though I guess because we were waiting for the better weather that didn't seem to materialise x
Thank you for providing a wonderful slice of escapism through your wonderful vlogs. They are informative but not 'teachy', comforting but not twee and ultimately remind us that there is an alternative lens to look at and live life. All the very best for next adventure, Kevin.
There you are----have missed your videos and Zephyr!!!! Your new adventure sounds exciting and learning!!! It gives all us pilgrims an education in English history. Your appetite for adventure is non-stop and makes it great for us to watch! Hope this finds you well and happy and of course my best to Zephyr, such an amazing partner!!!!
Unfortunately my arthritic back pain was quite flared up this morning. But never fear, it’s Friday! And yes, Vanessa did post a new vlog this week. So I turn to my favorite RU-vid channel for just the right medicine I need. Your beautiful scenery, such well chosen music, water reflections, all so peaceful and relaxing. Much better now and ready for the project of the day which is sorting out my art supplies. (More good medicine.). Blessings to you and your mindful family; Mr. M and Mrs. Z. And yes I would buy a calendar for sure. We usually buy 4 or 5 each year for our home which is neither narrow nor a boat, so, lots of wall space to fill. Heck, I might even buy two of yours!
Beautiful vlog as usual…I enjoyed the tour of Beeston Castle, so much history and beautiful views. Zephyr and her “please Mom go and fetch my toy for me”😊. What a character! Yes on the calendar! Biscuits looked yummy. Take care and safe travels. 🦮🐛
I am from Carencro, Louisiana USA I love watching your videos you do an awesome job putting the videos together. Very educational as well.. thank you Donna Boudreaux
You do know we are all coming with you on this adventure I’m a little scared but very excited to see what the new adventure brings I’m sure it will be amazing. Thank you for taking us with you 🥰🥰🥰
Happy belated birthday Vanessa! That was some great shots of the rather shy reed warbler, that too would be a wildlife treat to film one of those. And, the very hungry coot too, made for a really relaxing Vlog of yours as usual. I'm sure the narrowboat will be very thankful indeed that you managed to shore-up their boat, that was both very practical and helpful of you to do that for them. I'm also thinking of a holiday on a narrowboat - sometime in the Autumn, as the prices might well be cheaper then. But, for a single person, as I am, dealing with all those canal locks seems a bit daunting to think about right now... Looking forward to that special seaward adventure for next Friday.
@@themindfulnarrowboat Hi Vanessa, Thank you for your reply, and recommendation. I have just checked out the Ashby Boat Company website*, and they have boat hire(s) for 2 people. Being a single person, I have no-one to accompany me on what would otherwise be a life-long wish to travel on a narrowboat, having resided near the Kennet and Avon Canal near Theale, West Berkshire. It's great that canal has been fully restored after many years of neglect, there were parts near Aldermaston, and Midgham, there were completely dried-up. As a teenager during the summer school holidays, I would help the boaters at the two or three locks in the area. On one occasion, my former science teacher from The Willink School turned-up in a river cruiser, she and her family were very thankful for my help, as one lock is very deep, and with a very slippery metal ladder to get off the boat and on to the canal bank. Ever since then, I have wondered what it would be like to travel on a boat on a canal - another reason why I love to watch your beautifully made Vlogs Vanessa. You are living the dream, and may that long continue. 😃 🛥
Watching you glide along the canal on a sunny evening with beautiful scenery is just so relaxing. Looking forward to your adventures on the Manchester Ship Canal.
I wasn't going to do one this year, but I am so touched that some of you would like one that I'll have to see what I can do. Thank you so much for watching, Christine. Take care 🦋🌻
Hiya. Sorry we only had time for the briefest - and most confusing - conversation today as we passed you. Was trying to say, really sorry about the loss of your friend, whilst wishing you a safe onward journey and telling you how much we enjoy your videos (especially the lovely sound your teapot makes as you add the hot water!). You can't say all that in a passing moment! We've been in Chester for a lovely few days and are just starting the run home to South Derbyshire (Mercia marina). Lovely to meet you, briefly, in person and to see Zephyr taking a swim 😊 Dave and Mary, NB Andante. XX
Hi Dave and Mary, it may have been a brief conversation but it was still lovely to say ‘hi’. Thank you so much for your kind words too. Safe travels x Take care🦋🌻
A calendar would be great. I love your beautiful artwork and words you write. To be able to see it every day sounds perfect.. Sounds exciting. A trip down the ship canal. Definitely very different xx
Hi Vanessa, another great vlog. It's so lovely to watch and realise that all the things you show and highlight so well are things that I see too. Living on a narrowboat now for nearly 10 years I see them, but am I actually "looking"? Watching your vlogs, makes me reflect on everyday sights and take more notice. Only today I rescued a young Coot separated from his parents while he spent the time in the lock I was going down in, frantically fighting the leaking top gates flow. I used a landing net to scoop him out then reunited him with his mummy and daddy. Goodluck on the Ship Canal, It feels so good underneath you. It's like the boat really needs lots of water to really feel at home. Happy chugging. xxx
Vanessa thank you for bringing back some calm and reality back into my day. Not sure when this was filmed, but just lately with all the BAD things that are happening right now you are my CALM with your beautiful free spirit enthusiasm for life, your vlog is a sanctury for my sanity THANK YOU and god bless you and Zeph.
For those who do not know. The magnificent view from Beeston Castle shows miles and miles of the Cheshire plain. Inc the Welsh mountains Also the second castle Peckfords is now mainly used for marriage. Ceremonies. Great video once again and yes agree for the calendar..
I missed you last week, I’m glad you’re back. It looks like Zephyr enjoyed her trip to Beeston Castle, thanks for history lesson I always learn something new while watching your vlog. I’m looking forward to seeing your big adventure on the Manchester ship! Have a good weekend, all of you. xxx
Hi Shirley, I’ve had some very sad news which has taken me away from my boat. This vlog was almost finished when it happened which is why it came out late as I have found time here and there to finish it, but there won’t be a vlog next week as I’m still away. Thank you for your lovely comment. Take care 🌻🦋
@@themindfulnarrowboat vanessa, you have heard our thoughts!!! Thank you for listening!!! I have purchased from you before, and I will continue to do so!!!
Lovely video, memories of my childhood, I lived in a small beautiful village, called christleton, you would of come through, beautiful nature, Zeph loved her swim
OMG you should win a prize for gradually leading us into that magical bird world with the hungry coote...found myself screaming laughing...the end was beautiful too...loved every minute! You are picking up some sun now too!
What a incredible place and all its beauty,do you ever miss having human company coming along with you to see all these wonderful places with you to share.best wishes robert.
My husband is with me for part of the week. He can’t be on the vlogs as his work is of a sensitive nature and he has signed a code of conduct that he can’t be on social media. When he isn’t there, Zephyr keeps me company. Thank you for your lovely comment. Take care 🌻🦋
Such a lovely video. Very calming for me as i lie awake at 3:00. Thank you Vanessa for reminding us to get out of your comfort zone. Al best Joe and Gigi.
Good morning Vanessa & Zeph 😊 With what’s going on at the moment in our country it’s refreshing watching Zeph and you on your travels in total tranquility 😊 Love seeing the new Avanti class 800s on the Crewe Chester railway line 👍🏻 Take care on the Manchester Ship Canal. Love Stevie x
A calendar of your art work would be great May I request as well as wide type calendar a slim line calendar I only have wall space for slimline that I use & see all the time & your art. Would be so nice 👍 Thanks for taking us to Beeston castle 💕
You've been missed! Very glad to see a new video posted. And it's a lovely one. Gorgeous views and happy Zephyr making the most out of life. Dogs know how to do it best. I wish you the very best on your pink 'shrooms, and look forward to your adventure on the big water. Loved the poem at the end. The warbler proved the pen is mightier than the sword. Or beak, I guess 😆. Take care, stay safe!
Dear Vanessa, Zephyr and Alice Grace. Your journey on the Manchester is going to be such an adventure. Hopefully you will enjoy sunshine and NO troubling breezes. Can't wait to hear what you have to say about it. Just enjoy it and don't let its size intimidate you. If you get time and you pass by Chester stop in to see the castle and the zoo, well worth the adventure as well. Mark Alberta, Canada
Hi Mark, I think its going to take me a few weeks before I get there. I will definitely stop at Chester though. Thank you so much for watching. 😊 Take care 🌻🦋
Aww the little coot must have been starving. It just shows the vulnerability of creatures relying on the environment. Loved my trip with you this week and looking forward to the sea trip. Take care as always =-)
Thank you Vanessa (& Zephyr) for another lovely video. Looking forward to your trip on the ship canal. In the meantime, hoping you’re ok and my thoughts are with you. Take care. P.s. only 2 cookies with your tea!
Always grateful for your post. Theyre so peaceful and alow me to relax from my mind. They really help me on days where I'm not feeling well. ❤ Thankyou for being you ❤
I really hope you don’t have many days when you’re not feeling well but I’m glad my videos help in some way. Thank you for your lovely comment. Take care 🌻🦋
When I get a notification of a new blog, I save it for late at night when I've finished everything, and really enjoy the start to finish every single time. ❤
There are always subjects in your lovely wide-ranging videos that spark a memory or so with me ! The bindweed flowers we used to pick as kids 1950s being careful to get an intact calix ! We then climbed a tree to a suitable height , held flower at arms length , squeeze the calix so that the flower popped out to parachute to the Earth ! As for Coots , I've not seen one for years & they were once everywhere it seemed ! Summers night-fishing with a couple of mates 1960s , we were often startled by Coots giving great bursts of alarm calls for some reason , perhaps they detected distant thunder as Pheasants often do ? Slowly since then many species have been declining in numbers it seems for me ! Take care please !Thank you !
What a fabulous childhood memory! This is the sort of thing that children should be doing today. That is much more fun than playing a computer game isn’t it? Thank you so much for your lovely comment Take care🌻🦋
Hello Vanessa. Good to see a new video from you. And what a beauty it was! I don't think I've ever seen a dog leap into a river or canal. They usually walk in from the edge, but then Zephyr is a very special dog. Loved the hungry Coot with the Reed Warbler and the castle. Such wonderful views from the top. You are such a talented lady x
I missed you last week & belated happy birthday Vanessa, have a wonderful joyful magical year & all the rest & magical voyages. Thankyou for your beautiful serene, peaceful lovely videos, & wonderful drawings & poems
I’m sorry about last week’s vlog. I was nearly finished editing it but I suddenly had to leave the boat for an emergency and I’m still away. I edited the last part when I felt up to it to finish it, but I’m still away so there won’t be a vlog next week. Thank you for your lovely comment. Take care 🌻🦋
@@themindfulnarrowboat You have absolutely nothing to apologise for! You are perfectly entitled to miss posting a vlog for whatever reason. I do admit I was wondering & slightly worried for you, based on your usual output rhythm, but this is more a reflection of not being in a great place myself as it were & your vlogs are so uplifting , comforting & beautiful!
Beeston Castle looks amazing....all that wonderful plant life in the ditch surrounding the castle. Looking forward to your adventure on the ship canal. Thanks again.
Hello Mindful Narrowboater: OMG; you're off to tidal waters me ol' sea dog; I will worry about you but I think you're ready for it. I think you'll be crossing The Wash one day. I was really impressed with how you dealt with the canal being blocked by a narrow boat. Very professional. Pete Glyde.
I will definitely be crossing the Wash one day but I’ll leave it until I’ve seen the rest of the system first, just in case it sinks my boat! Thank you for watching. Take care🌻🦋
Beautiful old castle 🏰 with a lovely, scenic view! It will be fun watching your mushrooms pin through the box window. 🍄Wonderful illustrations of the warbler and coot with a delightful poem! Have a great weekend. Jenny 🐦🥀🐝
The mushrooms burst through the box with great enthusiasm!🤩 I left them too long as I got too attached to them to eat them and so they went past their best. 🤭 Thank you for your lovely comment. Take care 🌻🦋
Glad Zephyr found her toy this time lol. Gorgeous views from the castle, interesting about the sorrel, Telford, and all the other bits of info you shared. Always so good, Vanessa. x
