Lol. Oh goodness.. my girl loves watching your show with me and I honestly just have to share this with everyone. My little girl looks at me and asks, do I have to put my socks in the wash? I said yeah she replied back well we can sell my dirty socks on ebay. Someone might want them.. LOL.. thank you Sue for the video and more.. can't wait to see more. :)... she ran off to her room before watching the end of the puppet show. Silly little kid.
@@suemeonyoutube I think you're right, I went to do the wash this evening and all her socks are in a box, I wish I could take a picture. Made me laugh.. 3 year olds are awesome.. my little bug was being tucked in and said goodnight to the Sue and Jossie ( as she calls her) sock puppets. 😂
Sue, were you a classroom teacher or instructor in a previous life...? If not, you certainly missed your calling! Your instructional videos are superb. I hope you NEVER run out of projects to include in your videos. I'm going back to re-watch the ones you've already done, and I will be awaiting your new ones with great anticipation!
Thank you for being so generous with your advice from a place of experience. Sharing your suggestions, recommendations and what “not to do” will save a mountain of mistakes being made. So glad you decided to start this channel too because your humour always brightens my day just a little bit more because if it. 👍
Hi, I am so glad I have found you and Jocelyn on RU-vid. In just the few weeks I have been watching you both, I have learned so much. You are absolutely delightful!!! Thank you for sharing with all of us.
27:45 Before using Fabreeze, I would simply put that doll in a closed box with an open box of baking soda in it. The baking soda may be all you need to absorb that odor from the doll. Fabreeze has chemicals in it that may be irritating to some people so it must be disclosed if you do spray the doll with it.
I love the fact that you and Jocelyn have a zero tolerance for anything not family friendly. My kids are grown, but I do NOT talk like a sailor and I do not want to hear it. It’s tough being that cursing and “adult language” in public, on FB groups, and videos is viewed as “normal”. Not in MY house. So I’m glad I have a few happy friendly clean places to go!!! I LOVE all your tips!!!!
Thank you so much, Sue! I love your videos and you have given me the confidence to start thrifting for resale. Not only that.....but now I am also revealing my little hauls on My own You tube channel. I am having so much fun! Thank you for being my inspiration! 😘🤩
Just a note about wood...consider the use before you clean. I bought an antique wooden dough bowl that I wanted to actually use for bread. Before she sent it, the seller cleaned it with Pine Sol and when I got it the smell was just awful. Plus it had a hole all the way through it that she hadn’t properly disclosed. I wound up returning it. If you’re selling wooden bowls used with food, please only use soap and water or a tiny bit of mineral oil.
love your sense of humor sue;];]] great info and glad you addressed the comments some ppl have no common sense... its called respect of others. great job again !!!
Sue, can you possibly do live broadcast to help people identify their objects? Perhaps, even give advice on key words on how to present on Etsy or EBay?
Sue your awesome and not kidding! I was one of your pen winners and not only did the pen come with in 48 hours after I got my info to Sue but, It was beautifully wrapped and packaged. I'd buy from Sue and Josslynn( sp) all the time!!😀 Just based on there professionalism and how serious they take there business!
Your sock puppets are so much fun! Great tutorial, so much valuable information, thank you! You are an ethical seller. A great example how others should pack & sell items if they're not. 🤩
LOL Love the puppets. Sue your to funny. Have you ever thought about, explaining or teaching. ppl (me) lol about RU-vid, And how it works. There is so so much to know. If i knew you personally, I know you would be the first person i'd ask. You just have this way about you, where you are very easily understood or have a way to make things simplified. It's hard to explain. I guess you have this understanding on how to explain things. A-lot better then i can, I had a hard time just saying this. THANKS SUE, for being you...ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO.......
Thank you Sue for all the wonderful information today. I have a lot of Barbies (my mom worked for Mattel for many years). I didn’t know that Barbie collectors were so particular about things like that. It’s definitely a good thing to know. I will make sure to pass that information along when my daughter gets my collection. I have learned so much from you and I really do appreciate all the hard work you do to help us learn the ropes. You are a true blessing in my life. Hugs from Texas!
Same as most of your followers... morning coffee, Sue’s video putting smiles on my face, outside with blue skies and bare feet 🦶 on the grass to get “grounded” with nature. Oh, and my Morky dog, Frankie, on my lap. A perfect morning! Thank you Sue & friends 👬
Thank you for this information! To remove the odor from the doll, you may want to try sealing it in a ziplock bag and placing it in the freezer overnight. Most of the odor-causing bacteria will die when frozen. (And if it doesn't work the first time, try re-freezing it.) www.jstor.org/stable/pdf/81997.pdf?acceptTC=true&seq=1#page_scan_tab_contents
Very informative Sue thanks for the school’n lol. My Mom always said if ya had to cuss you probably aren’t bright enough to come up with a “clean” descriptive word. Thanks again
You are the second person to suggest this, and I will have to test it out. My concern has been the possibility of the alcohol drying out delicate vintage fabrics. But the other person who suggested this deals in vintage clothing, so I don't think she would suggest something that isn't safe. Thanks!
Hiya Sue, maybe try spritzing the doll w/ vodka to remove smells? I lost the one my grandmother gave me in the 60s when my parents had a moth infestation in their attic where I had loads stored🙁. My stuff gets cleaned no matter who wore or touched it, although I do have a few pieces w/ some people’s DNA (not *that* kind of DNA😆) on it that I’ll never sell or wash. Informative as usual! Have a lovely weekend! Jet 🧡🎸⚡️🎶 PS dirty “socks”, uh huh...
SueMe - 😆 Glad I could give you a laugh; but again must specify not “that” kind of DNA! Got hubby thinking as well, but the kind of DNA we’re talking about I think would be hard to prove? Sweat evaporates, so unless there’s skin flakes or hair (eww now I’m getting grossed out), it’d be pretty hard to prove w/out pics or a COA. Using your example: a pic of Mick Jagger throwing something into an audience w/ the audience member about to grab. Otherwise, loads of stuff worn on stage has been copied (e.g. all those Michael Jackson jackets & the glove). If it’s not my stuff (some were gifts from famous people or worn while out w/them), I’m doing consignment for friends who wish to remain anonymous. So I won’t disclose who wore something, or who’s home it came from. Plus I used to be a stylist, so they’d wear something for a specific event, give back when done. Yuck, would never sell stinky clothes, shoes! (Unless I was told to & got an COA.). XXX J. 😘🧡 PS just realised I put a link in the Barbie video to the Bowie Barbie, sorry! Didn’t realise what’d happen... yikes think I did it once on Jocelyn’s channel as well!
@@RnR-Rebel No problem - I trust your judgment. But I do need to check out links from people I don't know - I don't want anyone's kids clicking on something that will send them to Mistress Nixie's Dungeon of Doom. ;-)
Good morning Sue. I told you I would get back to you with the Rust-Oleum product for adding shine/highlights to your projects. It is just called Rust-Oleum gloss in clear. They also have a clear glitter spray you might want to try at some point. I have used both with good results. Thanks for the video. Enjoy your day! BTW, the prisoners in Orange is the New Black sold dirty underwear, but that is an entirely different video 😄
Another great informative video, Thank you. Sue I wish you had a full playlist, I went on vacation, and missed some of your videos :( I would love to catch up on the ones I missed. A friend came this weekend to visit and I shared one of your videos with her, and she was also amazed at your knowledge. Oh yes, we also went thrifting and found some great finds. :)
Spiders! My mom once bought a dresser from a yard sale, brought it home, we were getting in place when black widows started crawling out of the knots and such. That is the stuff of nightmares.
Good morning Sue. Thank you for the dirty socks show 😂. Great lessons. I am learning so much, although I am not a reseller I really enjoy knowing how to take care of my second hand purchases. Lol! The frames would spit at eachother 😂😂. Thank you for the good clean fun. Have a great day. P.S. If they are going to give you Charlotte and her offspring for free they should have also included Wilbur, but I'm guessing that would have cost alot more for shipping.
Sue, as a beginner reseller, I have learned so much from you. Got registered w/ USPS and rec’d my boxes. Have packing materials. Replaced the ink cartridges in my printer, have been taking lots of pictures of the cleaned up items w/ my iPhone. Registered w/ ETSY and EBay. Researched the value & descriptions of my items (good tip to maybe use your descriptions). But I’m stuck. Next move... start listing each item now or wait until I have all the pictures & descriptions to total at least 30 items to start listing, per your good advice re: ETSY how to, before ETSY messed with the shipping rules. To list now or wait for 30 items ready to post. That is the question. Sorry about the long winded post! I appreciate you Sue ;)
I would start listing now and continue as you have items ready. Before you know it, your shop will be well stocked. It can get very stressful to have to list a dozen or so items all at once, so gradual listings can make things easier all the way around. Just add a few more whenever you have some spare time. My best to Nancy... :-)
Excellent info, as always! I agree with everything you said, but there is another exception to washing you didn't mention: quilts. If you suspect at all that you've purchased a quilt with collectible value, you should definitely leave it unwashed. Quilts require special care and washing old ones can result in tragedy and tatters.
I’m SO glad you started your own channel, you are REALLY a natural ! We’re seeing a whole new side of you, love it. And you have so much knowledge and experience, thank you for sharing with us.
I am setting up a studio/workshop as we speak! I am going to take this being prepared to the next step and not only have all the boxes etc on hand before listing , I will have it already packed and sealed and ready to put the label on as soon as I list it!!!!! I am in and out of town a lot now so that way I can run in and grab the box and ship on my way out of town!!! Thanks and keep up the good work!!!!!
Sold 2 plates and a pottery vase on eBay this week. Etsy still nothing lol but I also wanted to say a great place to get packaging material is a mechanic. Parts come in big boxes with tons of bubble wrap/styrofoam bubbles/ wrapping paper... Etc. My husband brings it home for me in big plastic bags .
Another informative video. Love love you and Jocelyn Elizabeth. Here here and huzzah for no f bombs!!!! No place for that poppycock on this type of channel.
Hi Sue. I really appreciate all the information you gave us in this video. I really feel more inclined than buy items to resell online. I did wonder about painting and repairing items for sale. Your information was concise and answered questions I didn’t even realize that I needed to ask. Thanks 👍
Thank you for such a clear, concise, and constructive tutorial.Perfect information for sending off your wares with integrity and received with gratitide for shipping with care.😊💙🌊⛵🙋🏻♀️
I have a gooey mess from masking tape that was put on a 1964 board game to hold it closed. It is brand new inside, never used. I was able to peel back the tape with almost no damage to the cardboard box, but gooey tape residue was left behind. Tried a little olive oil with not much luck. Tried Goo B Gone with some luck but it stained underneath the edge of the paper that is glued to the front of the box. I'm ok with that but still very sticky. I'm afraid that too much more rubbing may take the shiny surface off the paper and it will start to take the color off of the graphic which is very cool. Any ideas? BTW, I love the looks I get from my hubby when he walks by and sees that I am watching your sock puppets. His face is indescribable. lol! Thanks Sue.
"Give me my shoes! I ain't got your shoes! Give me my shoes! I ain't got your shoes!" Your puppets scene is adorable but it reminded me of the dialog between the little girl and the building maintenance man from "The Bad Seed" . And thank you for reminding folks to clean and prep before shipping, I once bought vintage cake decorations that arrived with frosting and cake all over it. 😑😒gross.
Thank u 4 talking about washing things u get from good will. I've asked multiple people if they think good will washes the clothing they get and multiple people have told me they think they do. I've donated there and they told me to put these two lovely coats, one leather and one evening coat in the empty dirty bin that was next to me there. Anything u get there could have come from a hoarders house and buried since the 1940s. Love U Sue. Again thanks for all the Info.❤💖💙💟
So sad you had to scold some people... it seems that those kind of words are just common now... and I hate it! My dad NEVER swore in front of me (and I don’t believe he ever did!) He once told me swearing just made you look uneducated (stupid) and low class... I so agree with him... wish I could tell him how much I love him again...
Please mention about a smokers home I bought my daughter a tea set with Dora the Explorer book with it when I opened it it was so bad it smelled like a stale bar room . So make sure u ask if it’s a smoke free home or pet free as we .i always say pet friendly I have a cat but there is no cat hair or any traces or smell of a cat . I love my cat ! Apollo is a part of our family .
I'm wondering if Tarnex would work on the silver rimmed bowl--or any other rimmed piece. It has the consistency of water. If you lightly moisten a cloth in a small section, then wipe the rim, there is no chance of the solution getting under the rim. It's very potent and works quickly.
First of all I've got to say I love your show and find you very informative on all sorts of subjects. Now I need some advice. I have a small 4 shelf bookcase that is would not pressed wood and it has seen better days. I picked it up for $19 at a local thrift store. It's sturdy and exactly what I need to fit in a corner of my room to put books in. However, I would like to paint it since it is a dark wood and I really don't like it. I'm thinking using a light teal green to go with my decor. do I need to do anything special other than sand lightly to rough up the surfaces and then maybe use a spray paint? Any assistance or suggestions will be greatly appreciated
Mary, I would suggest trying chalk paint. It's very easy to use and whatever you're painting doesn't need prep or priming, just a bit of a clean. You can seal it with wax or a water-based varnish for a hard-wearing finish. One tip I have is to keep some fine grit sandpaper and you can easily smooth out any mistakes or brush marks before you seal it.
I learned something today. I would have ironed that Barbie dress. Thanks for you teaching us. The only thing I fine wrong with your videos they're a little long. I've learned a lot from you and Crazy Lamp Lady.
Doris Kelley, yes, and I didn’t mean it to sound derogatory. Pls forgive me if it sounded that way ;) One of my favorite sayings is “that’s why they make chocolate and vanilla ice cream”
How did you keep a straight face talking about dirty sock fetish’s and didn’t even crack a smile as you slyly threw in dirty Barbie Doll clothes buyers!? 😋
