Wow, whats the plan for all the crops? Way too much in there for you to eat. Are you going to bring to market?
@TriStarHomestead

Most of this will be eaten by us. We obviously can’t eat it all fresh but we do a lot of canning and preserving. If we have too much we might think about selling.

There's nothing better than eating food that you grow. I love gardening. The problem I'm having here in AZ are freaken gophers. They eat my crops from the rot. It's so frustrating. Next year I'm flattening my garden, putting down hardware cloth and filling vego raise beds. I can hardly wait! Enjoy your crops!

That is a good idea and one that should help.

How is the garden doing? Im curious to see how this works out. I thought the wood chips would deprive the gardwn of the nitrogen the plants need.

The garden is doing okay. We did not get compost like we ordered, we got “garden soil” which is compost mixed with top soil. So it was rather lacking. The plants are coming around now but are late bloomers due to poor soil. We will do a video update soon on the garden. Wood chips are actually high in nitrogen as they break down. It will add nitrogen to the soil not take away.

So glad you’re not using landscape fabric! Loads of mulch around your plants almost eliminates weeding.
@TriStarHomestead

We talked about it and we’re close to ordering some but figured we oil give this a try first. With some intensive management and hard work I think we will be able to keep the weeds in check.

@@TriStarHomestead in New Zealand, we use a lot of pea straw, or barley straw round seedlings. We put it on real thick.
@TriStarHomestead
@TriStarHomestead 4 месяца назад
We have straw here too but it’s expensive. I have a bunch of hay and will have more but it has seeds in it and I’m worried that might make it worse. Guess we will have to mess around and see what works and what doesn’t.
