LSU’s national champion football team visited the White House Friday, four days after defeating Clemson in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome to claim their first title since 2007.
They were honored by President Donald Trump, who spent about 20 minutes congratulating individual players like Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase, head coach Ed Orgeron and several Republican representatives from the state, like GOP Whip Steve Scalise.
The ceremony came as Trump faces two articles of impeachment in a Senate trial that kicked off Thursday.
