The only real difference between the two is that Prescott has character and PV doesn’t, but PV is quieter. If PV would fix up the ramshackle buildings along 69 it would greatly improve the look of the area. I’ve owned homes in both and currently live in PV, because I couldn’t take dealing with downtown traffic that has invaded it since I moved here in 2010.

Prescott has been around much longer so you get the more classy older buildings. The courthouse area is just beautiful. Nearby Prescott valley is much newer, but has it's charms as well. I live just East of Prescott valley in Dewey. We have a lot of trees in our neighborhood and a nice golf course with another one across 69 in Quail wood. People from CA are why the housing prices are so high. EVERYBODY wants to retire here. Now all I wanna do is move away. Prescott used to have houses for $180,000, now they're much more expensive. Traffic used to be bearable, now it's congested everywhere you go and the roads are beat to hell and full of potholes. Comparing these two is like comparing apples to oranges. The first difference is one is a 'town', the other is a 'city', and the differences continue. Too many to mention but both have pros and cons. The main difference as evidenced in this video - folks in Prescott think way too much of themselves and their city.

You have to convince the building owners to just gut the interior of the historic buildings. Rip out the knob-and-tube wire and also decommission any fabric-sheathed rubber insulated wire. New feeders for sub-panels should be hand dug under the building wall footing and backfilled with concrete grout reinforced with rebar. Even better would be to use jack and bore under footings.

Its the politics that make each one stand out. Prescott valley while being modern is actually doing things for the youth and promoting those activities for family friendly things to do. Prescott is ran by a bunch of old dried up grumpy people who in my opinion hate children and families. They want to sit around in their retirement years and not lift a finger for the better of the community. Prescott is literally dying of old age with land running out to build on and prices going through the roof, the locals can't afford to live there and those in power are just fine with that.
