Presentation of all Matchbox models from 1965. diecast car 

Fabulous! 👍🏻👌🏻👍🏻 These both make me smile and feel sad at the same time......I had many of these as a boy. In ‘65 I turned four and started school. I’m nearly 59 now; what the bloody Hell happened?

This was a very personal walk back in time for me. In 1965 my parents bought me my first Matchbox Car. It was the #44 Rolls Royce. I picked it because of the spring suspension and opening trunk. As soon as I got home I fashioned some luggage from card stock to put it in the trunk. This Matchbox came on a blistercard which was rather unusual for Matchbox cars at the time, and on the back of that blistercard was an ad for the 1965 Matchbox catalog. I sent off for it and as soon as I started looking through it, I became a Collector!! I still have my first Matchbox and its box and my first catalog. The catalog is worn, ripped, missing pages and has some green paint on it, but I have it!

These early catalogues are great. Beautiful, full colour artwork, not just photographs. Gets the imagination going. 00:25 shows the 13 Dodge Wreck Truck in the famous reverse colours. A very desirable, and expensive collectible today. The fire station and BP garages are rare and go for big money when they come up for sale.

Now that is a great Matchbox catalogue. I was getting quite excited as the pages were turned there.

Thanks Paul. I seem to remember I had the service station and the roadway r-1 when i was a kid. I played with them for many hours. Those pieces are long gone but i still have most of my cars 50 years later.

A few comments about some of the pictures in the catalog. The reverse color #13 is the holy grail for a lot of people. I wonder about the reverse color #2 Site Dumper. It must have not made it to production. The #6 Quarry Dump truck has wheels which for a long time, I thought were mistakes. It turns out early in its production it did have wheels like that. The #75 Ferrari did not come out in blue, but there was some of the green ones that had a bit of a blue tint to it. On the New Models page, the BRM is shown in colors that adorned some real BRMs but the model when it was introduced came out in plain blue, which I cannot find in any of the old pictures of BRMs. Of course the Mercedes bus came out in turquoise and then quickly changed to orange, but never came out in blue. Some of the "never was" colors give ideas for customs!

Ferari Berlinetta, Merc, Jaguar typ E są śliczne do dzisiaj, pamiętam Jaguara z mażoretki błękitny metalik z otwieranym silnikiem - cudo. Ciekawy jestem, czy zabytkowe pojazdy matchboxa Bugatti 35, Bentley albo Mercedes SSKL były z białego metalu czy plastikowe bo nigdy ich nie widziałem. Pozdrowienia.
