Boa tarde profesora maria. eu moro em califormia, USA. Estou aprendendo portuges muito bom com sua clases. In october 2024, I will be visiting Portugal, I am excited! va ser legal! Muito obrigada.
Really working on retraining my brain from Spanish sounds to Portuguese sounds. Very helpful when you show us the nasal sound visually by showing how you change your mouth shape. I appreciate that so much. I also appreciate that you tackle these lessons very technically. I don't really learn much from those apps that just make you memorize the phrase versus understanding the logic behind how you change the word based on the usage.
I started this series like right now and I'm already loving it. Rules in English that explain how to do it in Portugeuse is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much for your effort!
Where did you go? 6 months since the last video -.- I am just spending my holidays in Portugal and your videos are invaluable, especially for the pronunciation.
Hey, Tizian, I know it's been a long time, 5 months actually, but it seems like eternity to me as well. I've been swamped with work, but we'll be back to pronunciation practice in matter of days, no worries, and thanks for the comment. :)
muito obrigado Maria, obrigado por isso simples para nós,... would you be making more videos for A2 level anytime soon? I'd rather learn from you than a school.
@@teachersilviamontufo Wau, thank you, Silvia, I appreciate that! :D I surely love Portugal and Portuguese, but I just can't be happier when I hear a comment like this! Hugs from Belgrade!
muito bem, boa ideia ensinar português porque só se ouvem professores de brasileiro, quando o português europeu é um pouco diferente, as pessoas que queiram aprender português agora têm essa possivilidade. parabéns pelo seu português perfeito.
I am living in Portugal now for almost six years and my Portuguese is still very bad. Living and working every day with English speakers. No incentive to learn Portuguese, but I am personally embarrassed that I am not fluent by now. I hope your lessons will inspire me to learn! Thank you.
Good luck, Paddy, decide on your goals, make them small and realistic at the beginning, stick to them, and don't give up. You'll get there, nothing can stop you!
Don’t feel bad or embarrassed Paddy! I am 63 years old I just moved from USA to Portugal like 20 days ago! I don’t really need to learn the language but I am insisting on learning! I am following Maria’s lessons. I am not embarrassed to ask as you see! I repeat and reply the video or sometime I keep on repeating a sentences till I feel that it is stuck I’m my mind! Just put in your mind that you are learning it for fun, and take your time! With my respect😊
I have watched this video at least 3 times- it is so useful! I speak Spanish, so I am able to understand some Portuguese by writing but the pronunication is really difficult for me. You explain it very well. I sometimes play the video on a slower speed so I can hear the pronunciation slowly as I practice along. Thank you for sharing your resources, Maria. You are such a great teacher and a joy to listen to!
It's not difficult, it's just different. Focus on the sounds that are the most challenging for you, the ones you don't have in Spanish, but you do hear them in Portuguese such as /sh/, /zh/, /z/, /s/. Practice the isolated sounds first.
I’m confused Sometimes you pronounce the pronouns with s sound and sometimes with sh sound , when sould we use what ? For example noś trabalhamos and noś abrimos
Hi, thank you for the question, it does make different sounds depending on it position in a word and in the whole sentence. I will make a video it this weekend, it will be published on Monday, July 22nd.
I AM intersted to know how you do lessons, and if you do personal lessons,or group lessons.i AM currently volunteering in Erasmus project in Portugal till october, and i want to learn the language, because i seriously think not going back to Greece Thank you.
At the end, in "Todos os días", why is the s in "todos" pronounced like the s in "casa" rather than the s in "días"? Is this just the flow of the sentence, or is there an exception to a pronunciation rule?
Your channel is the best channel to learn Portuguese. I love it so much! I love the way you explain to pronounce the words correctly that it makes much easier for a new learner like me. Muito obrigado.
Olà Maria. Algumas informações da minha vida. Cada manha, bebo cafe. Frequentemente, estudo portugues na segunda-feira. Não cozinho sempre. Por vezes, como fora, em restaurantes. Obrigado para suas aulas :)
I'm an older man and I have a plan to retire in Madeira & eventually become a Citizen of Portugal. Takes about 3 years I believe. You have to reach a standard in Portuguese language so I am starting now. I already love the language in just a couple of days. I'm going to be listening on my ear pods as I go about my day. I love your pronunciation. Knowing French, Italian and Spanish already helps to have a good what words will mean when I READ them in Portuguese, especially verbs, but the sound is a bit different. Lots of practice required!!
Right. Portuguese is much "darker" in regards to pronunciation, but all those languages are from the same family and knowing at least of them helps a lot. The best of luck! :)
The best material so far I have found in youtube for European Portuguese, especially for those who want to focus straight on the language. Very professional.. Thanks..
Each lesson is densely packed with information and needs to be listened to several times. While this is good, I wish there were more interactive drills so that I can more easily practice pronunciation. Thank you for what your are doing.
Ola Maria!Eu muito gosto suas lições!Obrigada!:)Sou de Cazaquistão e sou professora !Trabalho de manhã então acordo cedo de manhã.Tomo o pequeno almoço e tomo café. Almoço fora com o meu marido:)
Dear Maria, thank you for your lessons, with You I`ve started learning as total beginner however I would like to ask about second person plural - in your materials it is "Vocês", i found some written materials and there its "Vós" nad "Vocês" is third person plural. "Vós" ha salso different ending in all conjugations. I would be grateful for a short clarification if you can, thank you
Hi, Tomasz! The form "vós" is not used any more. Officially, it exists in grammar and you can still hear it in some northern Portuguese accents, but it's not used any more. Instead of that, use "vocês" meaning you (all) and it's both formal and informal.
Parabéns Maria! Gosto muito o teu método pedagógico e obras lingüísticos que eu uso cada dia para aumentar o meu conhecimento do português europeu. Este video ajudou-me a aprender novas palavras e pronúncias. Muito obrigado pela a lição e até já. Adeus! Obrigado!
Your explanation of the tongue position with the nasal sound at 6:45 is very useful information. I have not heard other teachers explain this before. Thank you very much for this.
Boa tarde Professora Maria, I just started Portuguese in school dois evenings a semana. Our Professora falar Portuguese todos bem without hands and pictures so muito difficile to understand. Slowly and steady eu learning muito words :) I am now since Augusto 2021 in Portugal. My wife started with the language a year before me so she is already on the way. I will use your videos as a guidance and noticed that speaking is ofcourse the difficult thing to do. I have many friends in my sportclubs but I always speak English with them and not easy to change or to make a conversation in my level. Muito obrigado.
Even when I slow it down, in todos os anos or meses, I cannot hear the os. I'm worried I'll never be able to understand anything people say to me. But Maria, you are a fantastic teacher!
Hi, Andrea, there's no need for despair! That's so normal, and all these sounds may sound even more frightening if you're a native English speaker. Portuguese is full of consonants and just takes some time to get used to those closed and deep, dark sounds. I've been there as well. One step at a time.
Obrigada for the lessons. It's difficult to find European Portuguese lessons online. I like the way you teach. In a simpler way. Please continue to give lessons. I am a new student. I love this Language. ....
Maria, I just wanna say OBRIGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADA. I love you so much. You changed my way in only one hour. I recommend people to study Portuguese XXI book simultaneously. Please keep continue. Thanks
I've decided to learn portuguese and so far your channel is the only one which helps me a lot. However, my brain is melting down but I don't want to give up
@@marktheunknown1829 I know... That's why i made a whole playlist with the pronunciation videos in which I repeat the same sentences over and over again like a broken record. repetition is the key. Focused listening, and repetition.
Love your speaking session maria always wanted to speak Portuguese as my fathers family spoke fluent Portuguese... I tried but as i couldn't keep up with them l gave up... Now I want to learn becuz of communication gap with my aunts n uncles..love ur session
Please I wish when you speak Portuguese that you would have an English translation underneath, it would be helpful just in case we're not sure. I love it when you pronounce the words a couple of times at least, so we can try to improve our pronunciation too ;-).
muito obrigado Dona Maria. Aprendo muitas coisas como. Eu sou a Irmã Patience De ondé é Sou de Camerona Você do Portugal? Eu sou Tu es Ele/Ela é Nós somos Vocês são Eles/elas são Quela é tua professione
Eu trabalho cada dia. Eu gosto de jogar jogos de videos frequentemente. As vezes, gosto de exerciso. I think my Portuguese is getting a bit better. I have a hard time making the nasal sounds sometimes. I start to sound Spanish. 😅
Oh my God! What a great teacher. Your style of teaching is amazing. I am a UK resident and I feel so much happy to learn Portuguese from a teacher like you.
Olá Maria :) Levanto-me por volta das 9 horas, tomo um duche e depois preparo o pequeno-almoço para a minha família. Às 10 horas começo trabalhar. Trabalho na loja no centro da cidade. Acabo trabalhar às 16 horas e volto para casa. Cozinho o almoço e falo com o meu filho. Almoçamos todos juntos. Á tarde vejo algum filme ou leio um livro. Não moro com os meus pais mas falamos ao telefone cada dia. Deito-me bastante cedo.... Muito obrigada pelo video. Beijinhos! :)
Olá Beata, muito obrigada pelo comentário, gostei do teu texto! 😊 Não te esqueças de usar A com o verbo começar: "começo a trabalhar" ✅ "Trabalho numa loja" ✅ (porque há muitas ou várias lojas no centro, tu trabalhas numa delas 😊). Caso menciones essa loja mais uma vez, já podes dizer a loja/ na loja com o artigo definido. "Acabo o (meu) trabalho" ✅ Parabéns, boa! Bjs!😊
