Toyota fits AT tires for 4x2 model as they don't want the vehicle to get stuck while mild off- roading since the vehicle is a 2 wheel drive and these tire patterns offer the best traction. for 4x4 model HT tires are used to give a smooth ride on and off road as all the 4 wheels offer much power for traction while off-roading. Always remember Toyota brand does not emphasize on luxury rather they design for customer requirement.

3:28 In my opinion, Toyota's R&D for their vehicles are always on point. The idea behind offering H/T tires with 4X4 variants and A/T tires with 4X2 variants is clear, like If a customer purchases 4X2 variant as he or she knows that they hardly need a four wheel drive system in their vehicle and they do not have go through the roads where they might require to put their vehicle in 4X4 but just in a case at times they feel like crossing some obstacle or there might be a situation where crossing without 4X4 is quite difficult then A/T tires with 4X2 do wonders. It will help the vehicle to cross through the situation easily. Exactly the same way Mr. Vikas Dayal experimented with his XUV 500. On the other hand Toyota offers H/T tires with 4X4 variants because Toyota knows "Fortuner Fortuner Hai". Their four wheel drive system is capable and excellent enough that Toyota is pretty sure that their vehicles would do a lot more than expectations even with H/T tires. I hope you agree with this fact. Thank You :D
