Wonderful to see these first generation trad jazz players. I saw The PHJB in New Orleans around 1973 (my first trip there) and later in Berkeley and San Francisco. I sang with Earl Scheelar's Zenith Jazz Band for 21 years and we did Billie's version of Love Songs of the Nile--always loved her and Sweet Emma.
Yeah I am thrilled to see some footage of Billie and DeDe Pierce! When I was 10 going on 11 years old, all I wanted to hear was The Beatles and Rock and Roll. My parents dragged me kicking and screaming to see this band play in a circus tent on the Stanford Campus hear in California. It changed my life. I became a Jazz drummer and trumpet player and never looked back. What soul they had! I am only sorry that it isn't longer and that it comes in the middle of Billie singing "Love Songs of The Nile". But the audio is pretty good and it's certainly better than none at all. Hey! whoever posted this, if you have anymore, please download all you got. With Willie Humphrey, Jim Robinson, Cie Frazier. Eh La Bas!
