Fundraiser for the preservation of the beloved church @ 800 Aurora Street, called 14 Pews.
14 Pews is the last wooden church in the Houston Heights. Our sacred space has a rich history spanning over 90 years. Before 800 Aurora Street was 14 Pews, it was the home of the Aurora Picture Show. And before them it was the Sunset Church of Christ. Today, we need your help to preserve this beloved communal space.
After 10 years of running 14 Pews we must raise money to restore the church. We have hired Lucas Craftsmanship, known for their excellence and the next two months they will be fast at work making all the much needed repairs.
800 Aurora has been utilized by many other organizations like Mildred’s Umbrella, Landing Theatre, Catastrophic Theatre, Nameless Sound, ACLU, Austin Film Society, just to name a few. Also the space has hosted weddings, memorials and other significant events.
For 90 years, our community has been gathering at this sacred space, which some lovingly refer to as the “Smallest art house in Texas.” It’s one of Houston’s hidden gems, nestled away in the Houston Heights.
Please help us preserve this important part of our city’s history. Here's the LINk to our Indiegogo: igg.me/at/MzZgRR4WJb8/x/140499#/
Thank you!
