Now for the second video of those lusciously loud Leylands, as we now lose a deck and have a vehicle originating from up North, we have a Mark 2 National, with an engine combination I've been after for a while.
LAG188V was new in as 188 in 1980 as one of two Mk 2 Leyland Nationals new to the East Yorkshire, with this one 188, being the first production version of the Mark 2 National, which saw an updated protruding front grille to house the relocated radiator, and the Leyland 510 engine replaced by either the Leyland O.680, or in some cases, the L11/TL11. 188 ran with East Yorkshire in the Hull and/or York areas. It then went to East Midlands upon privitisation and even ran under Stagecoach until it went to it's final operator, which was Chester City Transport, before being bought for preservation.
Our journey on this lively Leyland was on the Penzance Running Day's Route 18, which ran from Penzance Bus Station to Loggan's Mill via Long Rock, Crowlas, St Erth & Hayle.
188 is powered by a Leyland O.680 engine coupled to a 5-speed Leyland semi-automatic gearbox. So if you want some National action with a different engine, feel free to have a listen, and hope you enjoy.
Start: Varfel Turn
Finish: Hayle, Penpool Terrace
