WE CAN LEARN SO MUCH FROM THE ELDERLY 🙏🙏🙏🙏 I COULD SIT AND LISTEN TO HIM TALK FOR HOURS ! TY 4 SHARING THIS ! I ❤ THE INFO THAT THEY SHARE ! GOD BLESS U POP POP🙏
I must say, I truly appreciate this elderly brother. I can learn a plenty from him and others like em. Being raised a city boy, this was an element in life I was not accustomed to. Great, positive video!!! Thanks for sharing
Most of us have no idea what our food even looks like when it's growing. Almost none of us know how to grow it. I would love to have a quarter of his self sufficiency knowledge. Much respect.
Bless his Heart he Look like my Grandpa my Mother dad he use to look Serious! Lol he not Playing! He was A farmer and she married a Marine Vet. And My Dad was A Farmer too I married A Factory worker and he was A Farmer I Miss That Garden Greens,Corn etc.Good Video
I really appreciate you putting up this video. I am looking forward to starting my own farm. It's encouraging to me as a Black man to see those with wisdom before me sharing their intelligence. Thanks for posting!
I know this is a old video but I could really learn a lot from this gentleman. I wish I had the opportunity to talk with him. He really knows his gardening. I love seeing a beautiful garden. Mine does ok but I’m always trying to learn.
Now that what women do...teach our kids the right way. They grow into smart humble young ladies...and one day learn to become a good mother and wife, if they choose to do so. Little girl didn't mind working. She learning a some valuable lessons of life. Excellent vid! I loved it. She has a smart and good teacher, her mother. We must get back to being whole families. Shalom
Black folk are remarkable.we endure.what a blessing to see your next generation participate.i would love to know if your grand daughter is still connected to the soil.
This information is so valued to me, can't plant without this old school information, thank you sir, I'm blessed for knowledge that I've received BLESS YOU
Great video! The southerners have the best produce because they grow their crops natural (no pesticides or fertilizers). This food is more healthy for u & it's more tasteful compared to what u buy in the stores. Our seafood is very fresh (straight out the water). This is why I love my childhood and upbringing and wouldn't have wanted it any other way. also. My family grew and raised their own produce (& fruit), and animals. I guesss must tag along with the saying, "There's no place like home"!
You guys are the best. Wish I had the money to help you help these people who have less than me. I feel there pain, poverty does hurt, I don't have a kitchen either. But I do have a roof over my head, 2 burners and a microwave/ convection oven combo. I have running water. I've been binge watching you thru lockdown, which my city is still under even though the president tried to come here this weekend, like we not on lockdown, and haven't been ravaged by this virus going around. Some of these neighborhoods in Baltimore are so bad that everyone in the block has been affected by this virus. Lockdown has made our food security non existent, I haven't eaten today, and won't eat today.
Superb video! I wish Id seen this a few years ago. My family is predominately African American, and we are from West Tn, most of our elders were sharecroppers as well. We lost a good many elders i the last two years, and so much knowledge went with them. There are of few of us that still work our ground the way they taught us, but Im afraid it will be a lost skill soon. Im glad to see videos documenting sharecropper life
thanks for sharing, in philly we are learning to grow our own food with the help of pennsylvania horticultural society our agriculture teachers!! my grands and i persereved some seeds yesterday!!
I'm interested in doing some qualitative research in Texas. I hope I can get great insight from former share croppers as yourself. Thank you so much for posting these educational videos. Please make more. I'm intrigued 😊
Gm edagdwg thanks for sharing no shame in making a living for yourself God bless you still here to tell the truth about life it self respect for yourself makes you happy Linda j peace ❤️❤️💯💯🐻🐻
TrollMaster300, me too. Just wished I had talked to my Grandparents more and listened to them tell their stories about growing up. R.I.P Tommy and Annie Lou Hawkins. 😥
Absolutely...logical...beautiful and powerful...lets get back to this.....instead of spending money on other people's names (designers)and fancy cars etc...investments need to be made into land...and don't EVER forget....a way to protect it...by any&all means!ASE'
I really like to see folks farming, my gramps farmed till he was unable sadly. But the dialogue written in the caption about slavery is too much! Never forget the past but don't live in it! I was always poor with barely enough of everything but I don't focus on that I focus on changing for tomorrow. So many people live with resentment and hate! Hate is a thing that won't get one far in life. This video goes to show how a man can provide for himself if he tries! I'm a land owner now, hopefully soon I can save to build a modest home and grow for myself too, just as this guy does.
man i wish i could meet him. you can learn a hell of a lot from our elders. theres a bunch of knowledge in our elders they wanna pass down but our younger generation are to busy on playstation 5, iphones, ipads and trying to hit the latest dances. i'd drive to his state just to sit and talk with him. i literally have teary eyes :( 55 runs right through my state!!!
Beautiful video of love of farming and family. I pray that our people would come to the knowledge that what our Creator made in its natural state is always the best! Beautiful granddaughter! Train them up in the way they should go.❤
Wise man. Now I love talking with people like this. Let us learn the way of farming. We use to do that. Let's get back to real life. Away from this fake way of living. I love to get all that good knowledge from his head. Girls need to learn the work too.👍
A bigger basket with a handle would have been wise...I'm a master Gardner myself and would never harvest like that...Nice land and video but at the end to have that lil girl to pic like that is in poor taste!
:-) Blessings to see your grand daughter picking at the garden. memories for years to come. one day she might be doing the same you did for her with her daughter or sons. loved it :-*
