The Salgado Aldes family was a huge contributor to what Colombian music is today and Emelina Reyes Salgado keeps her family legacy alive. When Salgado isn't teaching the next generation how to sing and dance, she travels all around the world to spread Pallenque culture to others. In Salgado's community, there is a connection between music and food.
