The economy is just one gigantic bubble, with the national debt being increased by more than it was under the previous 43 presidents combined. That is not a recovery. To be fair, it's no different than what Bush did in 2001.

GoldenRaven20 The recovery from The Great Recession of 2008 is quite a great thing actually. Unemployment is low and the value of US companies is quite high, maybe too high. Note Dow was 8,500 in late 2008. It's at 19,000 now. The debt is due to lowering of taxes and the initial effect of the recession on tax revenue. Lots of unemployed and crashing businesses mean less tax. Trump plans to increase spending and lower taxes further for the rich.

I agree that Trump will hardly help matters, but the recovery is built on practically zero percent interest rates for seven years and massive rounds of QE. The symptoms are better, but as I said the root cause of the problem is still there. Neither party is willing to cut spending, which is what you have to do if you want low taxes. Republicans love the military and Democrats love the entitlements too much for either of them to give any of it up.

As a proud American and an expat living in London, I commend Obama on the tremendously positive impact he has made on the perception of America abroad. I have witnessed such deep respect for him in England and Germany. I literally cried during his speech; I am not ready to say goodbye. Who can I look to to model poise, charisma, humor and professionalism now! In the spirit of Obama's wise words, I will be an active citizen and hold strong to our common virtues.
