I think the Obama hating is just another bandwagon. Most of the people insulting him just seem to be closet racists who have nothing better to do than hate on him without any actual political reason. If somebody can give me an unbiased and non-religious opinion on why Obama is a bad president, then I'll be interested.

OtherM112594 Debt is a huge problem, Just because you bought Microsoft, Apple, and Facebook - but you work at Mcdonalds doesn't mean you can pay off the purchase or even the interest. The US has always been great and a leader because our debt was less than our GDP, that's changed and a major problem.

@Retotion 9 лет назад
Cameron Capitalism has natural business cycles of its own, and, unless it's something as damaging as the Great Depression, any natural recession will die out on its own. To credit the recovery with his policy his just an outright tenuous. His mantra, "Change we can believe in" has totally failed. He did not change the way Washington works, he did not reform corruptibility at the federal level, and mush will remain the same as it would have been without him. He has been a gigantic disappointment, simply just a bona fide politician better at getting elected than serving the people.

I think the reason that's not brought up is because its a non issue in the long term. **Is it better to be lied to by a smooth talker like Barack Obama, or a sub-par communicator like G.W. Bush? A lie is a lie.** Obama did a nice job of 'marketing' his Iran nuclear deal to the American people. But much of what he claimed about the deal isn't true. Its the weakest, most laughably ineffective arms reduction deal ever agreed to. The fact that he circumvented the legal system in order to make the deal happen, should be a red flag. The republicans would've agreed to a strong, effective nuke deal. But NOBODY who was serious about curbing Iran's nuclear weapons ambitions, would agree to the terrible deal that Obama created. The devil is in the details, which is why the mainstream news media always omitted the details from their reporting!

I like President Obama's answer to Shane's question regarding political gridlock. If people are dissatisfied with the lack of movement in regards to developing issues such as climate change, vote so we can be rid of the officials (Senator James Inhofe for example) that are holding us back.

fifthgear93 He touched on the fact that some officials are 'bought' by the large oil players and are probably manipulated as such. Thats an awful shame because as elected officials, their first and only priority should be the American people.

Except that many of the terrible Congressmen/women ran unopposed, so there was no one else to vote for, and that most districts are gerrymandered to the point that a few young people voting won't come close to tipping the scales. I voted, but I am not surprised that many have become jaded/disillusioned and did not.
@KabzieMusic
@KabzieMusic 9 лет назад
quantumperception You're right, thats why we need to further support clean energy companies. Exxon, Chevron et al only respond to their bottom line weve got to hit them where it hurts. Also, without trying to sound cliché we the young generation need to shake off the disillusion and make our voices heard.
@quantumperception
@quantumperception 9 лет назад
kabe ayofe I guess my point is that young people should get more involved, but it is a cop-out to put the blame for the lack of change on them. Much of the problem has to do with the corruption of the system (unopposed incumbents, gerrymandering, campaign financing, etc.). You can't put all the blame on the youth. To your point, I might be confused, but do you mean that if voting in elections doesn't work, we should vote with our wallets? If so, I would agree, yet that is only effective to a certain degree, or with certain issues. Voting with the power of a dollar could have a major impact when it comes to energy and environmental issues, but won't have much of an effect when it comes to issues like our drug laws and our prison overpopulation. As far as making our voices heard, I agree, which is why I voted. However, I voted in both presidential and mid-term elections because there were candidates worth voting for in my district. There are other people I know who voted for president, but skipped the midterms because the crappy candidate ran unopposed (or it was an establishment republican against a nut-job independent or Tea-party candidate), in which case there was no good choice; they can vote for the crappy incumbent (or the crazy extremist), or skip voting.

Unfortunately, to many of the people here marijuana is far more important than anything else Obama could do for the country. I'm for legalization because it will kick the fuck out of cartels and hopefully help Southern California and Mexico become better places, if only ever so slightly. I also believe that people should be able to put whatever they want in their bodies, to a certain extent. If they want to slowly kill themselves with a drug, fine by me. It's better than jumping in front of a subway train and leaving a huge mess and scarring people for life. Instead, they dismantle their own relationships one by one and regress into a state of laziness, interrupted only by their desire for whatever drug they are on.

Only if there were hundreds of other members of our congress that will go as far as suing him in order to stop him from doing anything. It takes months of endless battle and brink of goverment shutdown to pass a simple budget bill yet you think a president can just do everything he wants to do? No the process takes forever espcecialy when you have very strong opposition from the other side. Forget about doing more, courts and republicans are challenging what he has already done, however small it maybe.

It's really discouraging to see old-fashioned mentality like that in politics. I'm tired of witnessing such narrow foresight from people, especially those in government. Climate change isn't going to happen overnight and we won't see snow vanish spontaneously. The change stretches across decades. The reason people are declaring it an emergency is because the world's inaction means irreversible damage plays out over the next generations to come.

To catch him red handed at something they suspect him of doing by surprising him with a topic. But what if he does stumble? You realize that world leaders aren't just being watched by us right? Unless we're catching him at something he can be impeached for the last thing we need is to make our own president look like an idiot. Not when he/she is our intermediary with hostile nations and our allies. So out of respect and self preservation, you present the questions ahead of time. It's just good manners. Which I wish people would recognize as the vital survival mechanism that it is.

disappointed that VICE would deliver this kind of pandering journalism. i have always admired VICE because in episodes of political conflict, they usually (and i underline the word "usually", there are certainly exceptions and instances of bias) give equal opportunities for multiple different sides to present their full views and opinions on matters. the interviewer in this just seemed to be throwing campaign bullet-points to Obama and then lapping up his answers. for a news outlet that has crafted a reputation on presenting such a great alternative to mainstream media, i was disappointed in this interview.

Like really, fox news and media make these things such so overhyped and these things have absolutely no critical impact on our lives compared to all of the other things the president could've answered. Obama is a very informed man and I wish there was something that we all could've learned about from this interview instead of half of it being repeats of popular issues and things I have known about for years.

7:00-9:09 now close the whole discussion down! That's the whole point. That's how Obama's presidency is going down in history. The best president we have ever had, in favor of the people's interests, who we were too lazy and stupid to take advantage of. Like it or not history will show him being great for America, and will show also how those bothered by his race, used the rumor mill to cripple him, and convince the people he was fighting for to fight him for the people that are against him for being for us.

Best president ever? Record unemployment, most people on welfare, 18 trillion in debt, at least 7 scandals, his dumb ass decision to pull all troops out of Iraq has allowed isis to spread evil all over the Mideast. His foreign policy caused our ambassador to be killed, we had to evacuate Yemen, Iraq no longer has a border, Putin is doing what ever he wants, I could go on but you see why only the uniformed and slow of thought would think that he is great President. He is a joke.

Damn that was strange. What a squandered opportunity. I thought Shane Smith, who I very much admire, would have much more to say to (arguably) the most powerful person around. He's built a career challenging people like this and I just watched 18 minutes of him spoon feeding the president talking points. Why no follow up questions?! Can't help but wonder why he was playing it so safe.

This video will be available ten plus years from now. Probably forever, Kids of the future studying this time period. Please vote, it truly matters. At the moment we are in ther Trump era and another economic collapse is probably coming sooner or later. And maybe when you read this comment America won't be the world's sole superpower. My advice is to be curious, learn other languages, connect with like mind around the globe. Build Bridges not walls, and let's all do our part to change the world. This is truly weird times for America people are saddled with student loan debt, getting jobs that are minimum wage. The rise of the autos aren't yet in full swing, but many more people will lose their jobs and it will be difficult, you know how the story will play out. And hopefully, it ends up well for all of our sakes. - August 10th 2018

This tiny little interview encapsulates exactly why DT will NEVER be considered a better president than Obama, when history judges both presidencies. Obama truly has his finger on the pulse of what is going on in this world, accepts responsibility for what he may have missed or messed up, sees what needs to be worked on and how to get a consensus (even if the other side was too stubborn to go along with it), and shared the kudos when something went right. DT takes credit for EVERYTHING that is good - whether a result of him or not - and throws blame for EVERYTHING that is bad - whether a result of him or not. And NEVER apologizes. AND acts like he's god. AND lies about all of it.

I like VICE in general but my problem is that it is a liberal based show. I originally thought that the show was going to be a bias free, fact based show. I was wrong. The show might be paid for by the left. I just watched there series and the bundy ranch and borders, amnesty. They act like the people fighting against the unconstitutional acts of the government are radicals. YOU might forget that every politician swears to obey the constitution. Granting amnesty to illegal immigrants is probably illegal, even though VICE had tried to place the blame on America for MS13, doesnt give them the right to illegally cross our borders. AND WHY DONT THEY SHOW WHAT STATE THEY ARE SHIPPING THE ILLEGALS TO. If they dont think it is to buy votes VICE is part of the problem not the solution

Elizabeth Taylor what do you do for a living?... you sound ignorant... your complaining about illegals? why... how are they affecting you? most of them actually work very hard and support taxes.
@mrtcutch19
@mrtcutch19 9 лет назад
You are probably the ignorant one. The fact is that immigrants get free health care, most the time they are on section 8 and pay there discounted bill through eopa and get free food through food stamps. My guess is you are either an immigrant or a liberal. Now they are talking about letting illegal immigrants collect earned income tax. Before you respond with no facts look it up first. this money doesnt come from thin air, it comes from hard working, tax paying Americans. So how they affect us is that we have to pay for them. I understand that they might have a hard life in there home country. For me its is like tough love, the only way to fix a country is to have the people of that country to force a change, not just let them ruin there country and have them move to another and ruin that one. AGAIN PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE RESPONDING, DONT JUST TALK BECAUSE YOU ARE A LIBERAL BECAUSE I WILL EAT YOU UP WITH FACTS. also before responding do you think you should have to pay for illegals to live here?
@jamesstencil1916
@jamesstencil1916 9 лет назад
Elizabeth Taylor Facts? Really?eopa? gotta be kidding? we both agree something needs to be done... an intelligent reform with a moral compass would be great. You Know that facts are all going to lead to money. it is always money. I came from Trailer trash and sleeping under bridges when i was only 3-5 years old... I am 35 now and have worked hard my whole life. i own my home out right. The people we elect make more money then you and i Both and most of them were millionaire before they were elected... we Do Not have a people problem we have a money/Greed problem/Power problem. there is a better way that these immigrants can serve humanity... and it is not by shipping them home. Bottom Line is Money makes Money.. If you move money it will make money the elected officials we have running our Governments are mostly idiots and have there own agendas. BTW Im half Liberal and 1/2 socialist and somewhere in between i am a communist/conservative... Most people Don't have a clue what these words are or mean... listening to talk shows does not make you an expert. lol, we probably both listen to them. keep up this rapport... I look forward to it.

I have to say that I really enjoy watching your spotlights and shows Shane Smith. I like your demeanor when you handle tough issues. One thing that I think the Pres should have said on these questions to you was that we need a more unbiased media to help bring light to a lot of the issues in this country and the world to our youth. The responsibility should not rest on the President alone to shed light on the raw truth of these problems. I watch many news threads and Vice is definitely one that shaves off the fluff on subjects. A spotlight on voting in America is one that should be done with Vice IMHO. The shame of it all is that we have many people in this country that cry about issues and never sees the polls during elections. There are countries out there that the population risks their lives to get a fair chance to vote and a lot of our citizens take that for granted. Keep up the fight!

I thought his comment about young people needing to get priorities straight when it comes to marijuana legalization being at or near the top of our list. However, a lot of the things that should be at the top could be helped greatly by ending prohibition. First of all, it has the potential to give our economy a huge boost in jobs and revenue, as well as raking in the tax dollars. Between the increase in tax funds and the drastic decrease in law enforcement costs (prisons, courts, probation/parole officers, mandatory drug tests, public defenders and so on), our massive budget problems would suddenly become a whole lot more manageable. That provides more money for things like foreign aide he mentioned. It would also help cut healthcare costs because of the massive medical applications marijuana has. Hemp (which is a form of cannabis that we are allowed to import into the US but not grow it ourselves) is already being used as a health food and in products like clothing and rope. However, if we were to have cannabis legalized we would be able to grow hemp in the US. This would help things like climate change, not only because of not burning the fossil fuels needed to import it, but because it can be used for biofuel. So, while yes it should not be our priority to legalize cannabis just for recreational purposes, it should be one of the higher priorities because of the solutions it offers for the more important problems our country is facing.
