Former President and General of the Army Dwight D. Eisenhower was then living in retirement at his farm in Gettysburg, PA. Ike was greeted upon arrival by Major General William S. Biddle, Commandant of Cadets and Dr. Clarence R. Moll, President of Pennsylvania Military College. Ike spent the day at PMC (during graduation weekend) reviewing the parade of the Cadets of PMC and attending a luncheon with dignitaries at Alumni Auditorium. It was his first of two visits to PMC. PMC became Widener College (later University) in 1972.
Here is more info about Ike's Gettysburg farm, now a National Historic Site.
