Onething I have liked Moi for he was very true to him self ...,example he said to his deputy that leadership is different from friendship,n he said that does not mean they r enemies though he knew saitoti wanted to be the president but he lacked the qualities.,he also endorsed the Pearson he thought would be the next president publicly n fearlessly ...sio Kama sai we do not know the exact position of our president na ndio maana siasi zimetuandama hivi.....he was an advisor.,he advised those that wanted to proceed after him specifically he told them to build a strong political foundation that will embrace peace in the country unfortunately i suggest that they have failed in that part .,a good leader is known in what people say about him we see that even his opposition were saying that he was wise n string n I quite railas father that said moi saw as far as a giraffe ,this are the kind of leaders we need patriotic and courageous ... this man was a real Patriot n a lover to his country RIP mzee
After the heat has cooled and sober heads prevail I am sure the perspective of this Nation on Moi will dramatically change. He was a leader unparalleled in our times
Hakuna raisi atakae tokea kama moi ,enzi zake ulikua unaweza kutumwa dukani ama matembezi tu na ukaweza okota mia mibili na vitu vilikua vya nunulika angalia sasa vitu vilivyo gali ,watu kusafiri nnje ya nch kutafuta maisha.enzi alipokua kwenye uraisi hakukua na mtu atamani kusafiri kuenda arabuni kuteseka, ewe mola msamehe mzee moi amiin
PEOPLE SHOULD UNDERSTAND few things. 1. Moi was a president in the 80's and 90's, an era that saw OVERTHROWING of governments across Africa, South America and Asia, courtesy of America's ECONOMIC HITMEN. During that period a host of countries experienced CIVIL UNREST/ WAR, ECONOMIC COLLAPSE and CHANGE OF GOVERNMENT, All these sponsored by the US and EU. Kenya was the ONLY Country in East and Central Africa that enjoyed ENDURING PEACE. Thanks to Moi. Kenya was among the few countries IN AFRICA That could AFFORD TO SEND PEACE KEEPING MISSIONS TO WAR TORN COUNTRIES in Africa and Asia. places like Eritrea, Namibia, Liberia, Somali, Sudan, Burundi, Rwanda, East Timor, among others. 1982 COUP attempt was kind of things that brought countries to their knees but Moi being African State Man managed to Hold Kenya Up and our beloved country didn't SINK IN A HOLE that swallowed many countries. May Moi's Soul Rest in Peace.
The true Reds yes it was. The difference is only a “selected few” had access to the money then. Today with the new constitution more people have access to it and want to have as much, if not more to their looting counterparts....
Why i prefer his way of leadership from this current one is how he appointed young leaders.. He always considered them unlike this current government. There will never be one like him. NEVER.
No One other than The former His Excellence President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi,,,Ii salute you The professor of politics!!!May your Soul Rest In Peace 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️ in Internal Life... Amen Amen Amen
I totally respect this man. He totally held the country together during a very difficult period in the region. Wars, conflicts, droughts, no IMF loans, disease. What a man. RIP mzee
Mzee you lived a wonderful life and I won't judge you whatsoever. My sincere condolences to your family and the country at large. Salimia mama Lena na George Saitoti.
No president will lead kenya the way Moi did , though he was ruthless and tough he had the interest of the masses at his heart as for me he was a good president
i miss my president TOUGH AS STEEL GENTLE AS A LAMB usedto watch all holiday celebrations nd nws religiuosly after 2002 it become boring the only political enigma is.Raila.after him R.I.P
Enyewe mali ya dunia utayaacha humu humu dunia the old man and his crew were super proffesional looters where is he and his comrade bewort today enzi zao ilikuwa kukula na kunyamba tu Sasa wananyambia kaburini This surve as a lesson to the modern crew of thugging politicians
This man, "my dad" thank you for sharing the account of what happened. I used to sing for Baba Moi. Born in 1975 I know better. Be safe. I miss Baba Moi.
Moi..those times 80s and 90s kenya was good . I remember growing up in Nakuru town .and the city looked well cared for . ..I bet things have changed by far right now
History will be kind to this GIANT of Kenyan politics. He was a gentleman, an iron hand in a velvet glove. He was also a creature of his times. He will be fondly missed by those who knew him. Rest in peace Baba Moi. You have done your service to your nation, the good and the bad. Only human.
We are grown adults, a president doesn't need to exert "discipline" on his constituents. We don't need it. This kind of thinking is why Africa will never be great
I was born during Moi's presidency, left Kenya while he was still president. As a Kenya abroad, he is the only president I ever lived under and I always liked Moi. I believe for sure, 1982 and mistreatment by the Kiambu mafias in the late 70's played into his hardened style. But the man was a true patriot.
Moi was a colossal. Holding a country emerging from the shackles of colonialism, a multipolar world and unending wars and coups in neighbouring countries is a no mean feat. Moi read the signs of time. He repealed section 2A for multiparty politics in early 1990s, when the cold war was ending, with the fall of Berlin wall and the fall of the Soviet Union. In the economic front, he controlled inflationary pressures, and the cost of living was low. Kenya was not mortgaged to other countries and other financial institutions with expensive loans. Under Moi, education still held the promise of a bright future and patriotism was instilled from a young age. Time has vincated him, with his timeless words, "Mtanikumbuka". Rest in perpetual peace Baba Moi.
The late president Moi was a brilliant schemer who easily outsmarted most of his opponents and arch rivals. Though greatly misunderstood, he sincerely loved our nation and wanted the very best to all Kenyans. He was in deed the professor of politics and the self made political genius💯. Long live Arap Moi.
Lee Njiru is a man who walked closely with the Late President Moi, he seems to have learned a lot from him. He should be given a chance as an advisor of coming Presidents, ameona mengi...
May his soul rest in eternal peace. The ordinary kenyans will always remember him thru all the pressures pushing for multi party's the ordinary Kenyans could afford to buy posho at 20shilling the price of food was affordable for all kenyans.
Kindly give Raila time to think,The man has alot of Work, and what Uhuru said that ,atime has came for other tribes to lead.Iwant to urge Hon.kalonzo Musioka not to quit Azimio,Kalonzo my advice to you, whether you're not given that position to deputies ,Hon.RAO,Just remained there in AZIMIO you're going to be the next Baba to Kenyans ,Please, discuss with your followers,Kalonzo we love you, God has agreat plan for you my dear.Jeremiah:29:11.Kindly be where RAO is ,we want you to be together so that you people help us run Kenya.Isaiah Onyango Gudah.
We should learn from Mois n Odinga's short merger to never put emotions into politics..even after he was detained for 9yrs he still had the guts to shake the hand of his oppressor
Urafkiki ni urafiki lakini, a country is a country and most leaders seem to to think with their head instead of their hearts. I loved Daniel Toroitich arap Moi because he led with his.heart. He may be dead but his spirit still lingers around, just Dr. John Garrang's. -East Africa, we MUST UNITE. Self-greed may get you a mansion but great leadership shall reverberate across the land in years to come. -**A leader is one who stands up when a nation is faced with a calamiy such as Covid-19. A great leader always maintain peace wherever there is a tribal conflict and provide hope when the citizens need it the most. Those are the qualities of a great leader and Mzee did all that except he corruption part. You know, kitu kidogo is always kitu kidogo unless we all unite and treat each other as jamii or family. All those kicks I endured that night because I did not have kitu kidogo stay with me and me ribs. Just never let this happen to any refugee, especially from Kakuma Refugee Camp. They are my people and so are you. Please, stay safe and always be Kind.
Agree with the commentor, former president was an eagle, giraffe, instinct, intelligence upto date n God's gift of leadership 👍🤣😅 balancing act btw pro n the opposing sides in digital error not a joke, can cripple the entire agenda
On God if we only knew that this man had our best intrest at heart ..... although he was harsh but the moment we let him go was the begining of the downfall of our country
How coud he have been a proffesor in politics, when he suppressed the opposition by killing them, detaining them and overseeing the ethinic cleansing in Molo and other areas where people didn"t vote for him?
@@suemaggoh True Dat. Most Kenyans Do not know Moi was a cutthroat politician who grabbed billions for himself while killing people in the rift valley to remain in power.
The only people praising Moi are people who directly benefited from his rule, those who were not paying attention or those who just do not know. Moi was not a good president. Not even close. Most things wrong with Kenya took root during his era. The corruption, the tribalism, targeting political dissidents, 8-4-4 and the revision of Kenya's history. The problem with Kenyans is that we forget easily.
@ Nelson King: l respectively disagree...if you knew even an ounce of Mzee Kenyatta's rule, you'd know that all those problems you're talking about stem from Mzee's era! As a matter of fact, Mzee was far much more ruthless especially with Political rivals than Moi ever was & Corruption was Grand, totally unchecked & unquestioned during Mzee"s rule! Unless you haven't a clue of Mzee's era of rule, look at the Mirror first when you talk about Kenyans forgetting easily, unless of course you're not Kenyan!
Moi knew how to hummer the nail from the head and without fear, favour or contradiction. This is the man i live to emulate.Hakuna kupakwa mauji au matope.
