@@g.h.2800 first off, what distortion you see is insignificant it's just at the brink. Secondly, is now going to cause disturbances on broadcasts and TVs unless you're running a 1970s model TV and then you would have to be awful close to the signal. If you turn it down just a little bit the pattern straightens right out. No different than turning a stereo up to the point of distortion. The operator has total control.
@cbrepairguy Thanks for showing the internals of the President Washington. Because of you i was able to do the conversion to the 11 meter band! Thanks a lot and 73!
President fans are out now for washington. 17,90 Euro per piece here in germany. Need 2 for this radio. Frequenzy for 11 m band opened cost 29,90 Euro. Radio himself 398 Euro.
It takes 4 times the power to increase your signal by 1 S unit, or 6db gain. Double the power is 1/2 an S unit, or 3db of gain. There is no significant difference between 75 watts & 110 watts.
Thanks for posting. I wish someday there would be a radio with a decent S meter like the Icom 7300 or Xiegu 6200 (the 6200 even has -dBm which is extra awesome!)
What CB Radio would you recommend? I have a Cobra 29 LX now and I'm just not happy with it, it doesn't get more then a half a mile or so down the road, Really wanting something that can get minimum 5 miles TX/RX.
Yes, it probably draws quite some current with IRF transistors. Built a pa from China some time ago with really huge IRFs and they produce good power up to 20MHz. On 10m you get 25W out with 15W in!!! But there are no driver or predriver transistors on the pcb.
There really not the choice for 11 meters but I think because they are cheep is why they use them. They are not properly tuned at 50 ohm so you have an impedance mismatch as it is and the hotter they get the more current they draw.
I have a president thomas I purchased for its size I want to mount it in my pick up. Was trying to find out if I can run a power amp something about 100 to 150 watts. I know the internals are surface mount tech. So not able to peak and tune.
@@Macjohn1419did it sound bad, or the scope showed something you think you perceive. Audiophiles are nuts also, believe they have super human powers of an O-scope.
@@Dingleberry1856, you are the one who is relying on the scope. I rely on what I hear and although the scope may appear to look good, the actual audio definition to the ear sounds overblown and harsh. By the way, I’m not an audiophile. The unmodded radio sounds perfect and intelligible. I replayed the before and after several times and it’s night and day difference. Not being an audiophile, that says a lot. Just saying.
Nice radio would like to hear the over-the-air audio with echo. The only thing I didn't like about the president Lincoln two plus the echo wasn't that adjustable. Is the echo on this radio the same ?
Cause it’s a cb. It was made to be purchased by cb operators and president knows this. They call it a 10 meter radio so they don’t get in trouble. And then people get butt hurt when you say it’s not a ham radio!
@@Fox250R false advertizing, not cool. Also hard to resell on Ebay or most platforms, the word gymnastics and pricing just sucks… add an option to make the channel selector a full VFO and now were talking…
@@cbrepairguy i have 0 noise level on ssb on my ham and other radios but on these types of radios ie the crt 7900v and other modern ones all show a s4-5 , check m0ogy video his washington is the same but he says it doesnt bother him
