Thanks for this Elizabeth! I don’t have a gem tester, just one of those diamond testers to see if something is glass/stone/ or diamond. This was really helpful!

Very informative! I like your presidium and that you hold it in the proper position. In all of the unboxings I have watched, no one has ever mentioned that it is made to test clear gemstones. Interesting.

Great video! I have had the regular presidium for over 3 years now and I am wondering if it is time for a replacement. So I am trying to decide if I should get the gem indicator that you have or another gem tester. This video is helpful!

Hi Elizabeth do you like that tester better than the one we all have? Because I think sometimes when I’m testing and it’s in 3 lines what the heck is it?? I still have to guess lol

Hi! Great to see you! I like this tester much better than the one I had before and that most people have. Mine stays calibrated and can be moved from place to place without issue, where my original one was very fussy it's entire lifetime, and eventually got so bad I had to get a new one. I tried a new one of the same model and that one worked even worse than the first one so I decided to try this pen model. That said, if your tester stays calibrated, is easy to calibrate, and doesn't get screwed up every time you move it, I'd suggest sticking with the one you have until it doesn't work any more. You can still get multiple possible answers using this pen version. By using the color picker you can narrow down the answers, but you still need to have other information to be able to get to the specific answer you're looking for. You can figure out a lot by studying gemstone characteristics and using a loupe and I'm just a beginner at that. It can help tremendously to be able to get the refractive index of the stone in order to say exactly what stone it is. I'm not too good at using the refractometer to determine the refractive index yet. There are other tests you can do for certain stones to supplement the gem tester. Again, I'm learning these slowly. I hope this makes sense. I can put together a playlist of some videos that would be helpful if you want to know more. It's no trouble.
