Just an Update. I purchased a pair of the E7 XT's. My input is an SMSL SU-9n DAC with input from my PC. Its all on a custom desk I built myself. The first thing I did was listen for any feedback from idle speakers. Zero Feedback nothing Nada. The speakers have excellent stereo separation. They are very clear and crisp while imparting a sense of spaciousness. I can hear ALL of the instruments. Very happy with the Upgrade. No buyers remorse.
I returned Edifier S1000 MKii, bought a pair of E5 XT, but returned it as well, and finally got a pair of E7 XT instead, E5 XT sounds really nice but just slightly lack of deep bass (sub 60Hz), felt like something is missing while playing songs, E7 XT has much richer sound, gave me full range and much relax bass, set it to Acoustic Space -2dB, HF -2dB and MF +2dB makes it perfect flat speakers for me. Edifier S1000 MKii is really powerful, strong bass and solid build, but the vocal isn't as clear as both PreSonus, feel like a big smile in eq, which I don't like it, I prefer flat sound. If you have the budget and room space, go for E7 XT.
After this video comparison I bought E7 a few years ago)) So goooood, much more than I expected. JBL LSR's been before and they doesn't even close to this clarity and details. Eris E7 is true leader in this price range.
Im impressed with the bass depth of the 7s. Theyre tuned like an 8. Most 7s are tuned like the 5s with other brands except with just more headroom. I dont care for the high end of the xt line though its too raised. I prefer the sound of the previous gen.

The more I hear this Presonus E7 XT against other speakers, probably has the best seat, between price, quality and sound. This speaker can even hang in there with the Yamaha.. very nice. E7 for the win.
Would it be a wise investment to buy both? I was thinking of ordering a subwooferalso or does the e7 xt provide what is needed in that area? Awesome video !
The E7 XT clearly takes the cake here, better bass, airy and more consistent high end but not drifting to sharpness that cuts your drums, mids are ok and fit good in the overall profile. But for those with a smaller budget or less space available, the E5 XT's are a solid option aswell. :)
@@nicolasbissonnette1010 Dunno what you're talking about. The E7 XT's are not muddy, they have clear, crisp and flat highs, a good stage and separation. Yes their mids are slightly lower, but you know that they are tested with neutral settings and can be tuned? They have mid and high tuners and acoustic space settings too, which can flatten them out pretty well or just raise to lower mids a little or whatever. But what do i know, my ears are probably fckd and im just listening over an Soundblaster AE-7 in 32bit 192KHz direct mode with a pair of Beyerdynamic DT990Pro Black Edition Phones.^^

The E7 and E8 XT's dont really need the Sub 8, as they already extend down into the middle of the sub bass range to about 40 or 35Hz respectivly, they would be a better match for the Temblor T10 if at all. The main reason for a Sub 8 added to the E5 XT's would be to get the low end gap closed and extended downwards from about 50 to 30Hz and maybe even lift some of the work of them 5er shoulders, while not paying twice as much to get a T10 which would cost more thant a pair of E5 and, right now, even E7 XT's here in Germoney. (T10 399€ vs. a pair E7 XTs 310€ or 155€ for a single .-. The Sub 8 189€ vs. a pair e5 XTs 250€ or 125 for a single) So i'd recommend: Setting up the 5s and switch the space acoustics accordingly. Match the Sub 8 and the 5s 80Hz cuts, thus letting the Sub 8 take over everything below the 80Hz mark. Also dont crank that sub up to high, you dont want to overpower the E5's as this would cost you dearly in terms of overall sound, you want him play well with not over them. Leave the Mids as they are, as they are already higher than the 7s, maybe in the end you want to lower them a dB or 2 or not, depending on your hearing in your room. And in the End, i'd level the highs up a little to match the 7's and give a little more counterweight to the sub. (but thats entirely on you and how you like it) I's no witchcraft and should all be set and done in 15mins or so. You can ofc go all the way and measure them out perfectly and use your smartphone with that one app whichs name i always forget (costs somewhere between 5-10 bucks, i dont use it have only heard about it, there was someone out here on YT that tested the E7 XTs and mentioned and showed it iirc) and measure their SPL levels and in room response and co with it on your main listening position and tune the hell out of that setup with some hardcore EQ-ing till it fits perfectly to your taste.

The rise of the 5xt between 1khz - 2khz makes them very pleasant, also that frequency drop between 2.3khz -10khz makes the treble softer and less suffocating. The noise they generate is the only bad thing, the 8xt and 5xt are the best, I still can't find the sense of 7-inch monitors in this line. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO. 🤟
@@jenshuxley I'm sure it's part of your line's frequency response. To have a bell in that area, there would have to be a very close reflection which would also affect the 5 xt and this is not reflected in the listening or the graph.
Both sound pretty good! Perhaps more bass in the e7xt? Question : I am no pro and have edifiers 1850db + a wharfedale sw150. For music and movie streaming, would you recommend the 5xt or the 7xt? (will the wharfedale get in the way of the presonus?). use case : listening to music and movie streaming. no music production. Thanks!
Is the E7 XT really a 7" or is it a 6.5"? I remember getting out my tape measure when I got my JBL Arena 130's and being like "Nope. Ain't a 7" like the internet says." Actually when you see them right next to a studio 230 which claims only to be a 6.5" it's bass driver looks a little bigger than the one on the Arena 130. Hopefully this comment will lead to ppl being confused forever. I know I am.
The differences come from measuring methods. In case of your JBLs they probably measure the whole woofer basket rather than just a cone with suspension
7s are always 6.5 pretty much with every brand. Same with 6s being 6.5 as well. Look at the two krk lines. They have an rp7g4 and a v6s4. Both use a 6.5 woofer.
@@DSAUDIOreview hiss or buzz? I haven't noticed them hissing, but the transformer sound was audible from above 50cm which was a dealbreaker for me which is too bad cause they do sound incredible for the price plus 3 band analog eq.
I purchased the Eris 5XT a while ago based on what I heard here and they had many problems, a dead tweeter, incredible electric noise, hum, hiss… Rma, replaced them, same hiss, same problems. Total garbage. 300€+ wasted. Could you please recommend some pair of monitors around 150-200€ each without known QC issues and the most important, no audible hiss/hum on the near field listening? Thanks for your incredible work on this channel :)
