PreSonus Gets the DAW Subscription Right with Studio One+ Hybrid

All software is going subscription, and PreSonus gets it RIGHT with the Studio One+ Hybrid plan.
I know most people hate subscriptions for their DAW and plugins, but that's usually because subscriptions don't offer any real value over owning. But PreSonus has changed the game by offering a FULL perpetual license that you get to keep and use forever - even if you unsubscribe 👍 And they do it at a price that is much lower than many other DAWs that don't give you a perpetual license.
With the Studio One+ Hybrid Plan, you'll get Studio One Pro and all updates for a year, all the plugins, all the sample and loop packs, online collaboration and cloud storage and much more for only (currently) $179.99/per year.
But the really cool thing with the Hybrid Plan is even if you cancel your subscription after a year, you'll keep a full license for the latest version of Studio One Pro that you had access to.
This is a non-updating license, so if some new features come out that you want you'll need to resubscribe or purchase a Pro to Pro upgrade.
But having the peace of mind that you won't get locked out of your DAW if you cancel your subscription is a HUGE thing.
Of course you can still buy Studio One Pro outright, but the new Hybrid subscription plan will be a better value for most people.

Cubase 13 pro no subscription and more features i made the switch from S1 and l can not be more happy now.

Boy, I've paid and played with them all. ProTools; Cubase; Studio One; Ableton; MixBus; REAPER; and more. I'm down to keeping Studio One updated, Cubase is at v11, and I support REAPER because it is so affordable. And, I also love using DAW-less recorders (Zoom, Boss, Tascam).

everyone has different preferences for workflows which is why so many DAWs exist - Pro Tools, Studio One, Cubase, Nuendo, Reaper, Bitwig, Ableton, Sonar, Harrison Mixbus, UA Luna, Reason, and there's probably more I can't think of. All of these have some features the other does not. Just pick the DAW that works for you. Coming from over 15 years in Pro Tools, Studio One has been awesome for me the past few years I've been using it. What feature in Cubase did you need that was not in Studio One Professional?

@@BenoniStudio I like Variaudio in Cubase and how it is smoothly integrated in the DAW. Studio One (great DAW too) still relies on Melodyne Essential? Less powerful.

The lead architect plugin will be locked as well as the fat channel emulations(except for the ones included with pro) after the hybrid+ subscription expires.

This is an excellent way for me. I have owned Studio One for over 10 years, and it is my favorite DAW. I tried Cubase 10, and it was way too complicated for me. Studio One gives me a clean, smooth workflow.

I’m a 6.6 perpetual license owner but want to go hybrid. Do I have to start again?

Not sure what you mean by "start again" If you want to go Hybrid just pay the $179 and either reinstall S1 and activate with the subscription license or deactivate your current install and re-activate with the sub license. (Studio One in the file bar - S1 Activation - choose Studio One+) I am assuming you own a full 6 pro license, so you will own that forever and it will be good all the way to 7. Unless you need the loops, cloud functions, plugins, etc... right now - I would wait until S1 7 comes out because the license you already have will take you to 6.9 (assuming they do a 6.9)
