Good afternoon, Alpharetta,
Thank you for your patience during this last week since the traffic stop incident that tragically ended with the driver of the car taking his own life.
Our commitment to our community and the public is to be a leader in transparency in everything we do. In that regard, there are times when we ask for patience with us when we must gather all the correct information, protect the integrity of an investigation, and do our best when considering the affected family.
Since this incident tragically ended in the death of a person, we immediately called on the GBI to conduct a separate and independent investigation.
With the permission of the GBI, and in partnership with Mr. Dante Parara’s family, we conducted a press conference this afternoon that included remarks from Chief Robison and Mr. Kendrick McWilliams, Sr. who is a personal friend and attorney for the Parara family. We are releasing the dash camera and body camera videos from the officers involved.
Our hearts go out and we are grieving with the family and friends of Mr. Parara. We ask that you also keep them all in your prayers as we heal as a community.
We’d also like to thank all of you who have reached out and sent messages of support for our officer who sustained significant injuries. He is still at home recovering.
**Warning: The video shows our officer being dragged and body camera footage of some of his injuries. This may be disturbing to some viewers.
