Which is only in the US. This Gentleman is speaking about an international press pass. Still even in the US there are Org's and Credentials for press. Generally speaking press in the US will not get access to official news conferences without credentials.

Lol dude you can't just walk in an event and say freedom of press im taking photos. They'll call the cops quick. Press pass helps them feel better about letting you in.

99 % of the time, customs don't even stop me. I was stopped only once in Mexico because of my DJI Ronin and I told them I was a photographer and just let me go.

I think customs would be an issue mainly.in countries that would intercept and will serve your camera equipment, anything that could be used to film their country and show them in a because light. There are more countries like this than you can imagine from what my research has shown. And it's weird bc they'll let you video them making you abandon your gear with your phone, but nothing is allowed when you leave the airport. I don't know if a press pass would change this but always be careful where u take ur drones, and more expensive stuff. It may be worthwhile to plan on buying equipment upon arrival after the airport in some places. Qnd make sure u can upload it to a cloud that's accessible once home and delete any footage from SD cards or key fobs before arriving at the airport to fly home

In big events like that where security is important, you would need to be on a guest list or have previous reservations for sure.

Hello Angelo, it took about a week. I had it shipped to New York. It comes with a lot of stuff; certificates, documentation and all the items that I have shown in the video.

The card is neither less nor more official. It is a matter of benefits with the company and how people accept it where you go. Personally, I see both as the same.

For the events, you have to check on the organizer's website and secure a slot if it is limited. Since COVID it is a lot harder to just show up

That depends on the criteria’s. Even courts or sporting events will have limited spaces for official news media like CNN. You should check in advance

Thanks. I'm not promoting and if you find something better, let me know. It just that when I researched one, it seems to be the one that gives the most benefits, had the most stuff provided and was recognized by more organizations and airlines. It was about 110$ when I renewed in 2022.

Just go to the website and fill the form. But, first I would ask if they can ship it to Kenya. You will need a credit card to pay.

Any press pass, including CNN is as powerful as the organizers allow them to be. If you are a stock photographer or RU-vid influencer. That might have just as much impact as a press badge. But, for most events, it works.

Hello, likely. Again, the pass doesn't afford any more power than money would. In the sense that people give you stuff for your dollar bill because they believe it has value. Hotels give me upgrades because they hope I will review them. There are no format agreements. A lot of it is your ability to convince people.

That is correct. That's why I only use it for an extra bag at the airport (even in the rules), upgrades at hotels at times and because it works with people that think it does.

I used it in hotels and events in Africa, Europe and North America so far. The coverage for their insure is world wide. It really depends on the people and company you meet.

Yes, absolutely. It is in the constitution and laws of most countries. You don't have to be CNN or BBC to be called a journalist.

When I shot as a freelancer/stringer for a visitor publication, I hung my editor friends business card around my lanyard...just in case I get the ??. I rather have my work pubished in a newspaper or magazine to show officials my credibility. There was a guy in town who "chased fires/police" whenever he could. The newspaper loved him, the local police did NOT! He also upset some tv news videographers because he "got in the way" of their shots. Now, I kinda blame his "enthusiasm" about chasing authorities because our local fire and EMTs have upgraded their radios so that even the most modern scanners cant even listen to calls.

@@lonelypigeon7562 I use the badge mostly because it calms people. I just flow my drone in Mexico and the police showed up. I took the press from my neck and extended it to them, and they just calm down and told me to continue. Not sure how it would have gone without it.

I understand that, but what matters is the percepton that the people have.

The website appears to be down at the moment. But, it is legit as much as people recognize it. I got massive discounts with United and Avis because of it. The organization has been there for a long time.

The emitting organization is international and my understanding so far is that a journalist pass is as good as the person that holds it and the value place on it by the authority. I use it when I check in some hotels or use certain airlines with various degrees of benefits. I would imagine that if you are at a protest, properly dresses and not protesting when the police show up, it will give you an advance for sure.

@@stopy2646 All over the world maybe not as a lot of country don't allow journalist around, but in most place, so long as you are clearly identified as a journalist and you don't not participate in the protest, you will not be arrested.

@@stopy2646 Yeah, that has nothing to do with beling a journalist or having a card. If the law allows you to take photos of people without their permissions, you can sell them and all the landmarks and objects are not a problem at all. Copyright is what is protecting you here.

It was a 99 USD for a year the last time I renewed.

It is a little of both. I made the video because the pass has helped me access hotel upgrades for posts and articles. And I saw it as insurance in case of issues like I see my DAN insurance for scuba diving. I'm just talking about my experience and didn't get paid for it. Sorry you see that a detrimental to others.

The pass is real and insurance you get with it is real. But, the power is affords is whatever the place you want to get in allows. Even CNN journalists don't get allowed everywhere.

I'm from Canada. I know what you mean. But, as I have mentioned in the video, it is a matter of perception. The police or anyone see you with a press pass, even if you make it at home and they will think twice because arguing with you.

666 :) I like that. You are correct. The problem is that, contrary to what Americans are told in school, there are 204 other countries in the world. Also, people comply more often with uniforms and badges then 200 years old documents.

It is not powerful, that's for sure. But, it works for some airlines and with some hotels for upgrades. If you over watch the movie Boiler Room you will understand. "Act as if, you have nine inch..."

@@MarioStingerPerpetualTraveller no, I didn't mean having a press pass and benefiting from it is a scam, I meant the 'organisation' ia-pp is a scam - it's basically a fake id vendor disguised in a higher-end (journalist) name so it can over charge you. Technically and legally, I can issue you a press pass two, but I would have to charge you much less since I don't have a title/website to do that.
