Becky won $17,210 just in prizes. That has to be the all-time record for a one-day prize total. No wonder Rod went hoarse halfway through the copy.

Everyone turned into Michael Larson in this episode ! (with luck, not the know-how). This is honestly my first time seeing this one. Wow.....

to Guyverfan95 : i think it is more exciting because in the larson eps he KNEW what he was doing and where the board was going to stop. in this episode becky and paul lacked knowledge of the board patterns so their reaction to hitting the big bucks square was genuine excitement. i think even the audience in the larson eps pretty much figured it out after the first 5 or 10 spins or so. this ep was pure "luck"

even though rod roddy was running out of breath having to announce those 8 prizes that becky won but i love that music they play in the background when announcing the prizes that whoever wins, they really should, bring that music back for the elizabeth banks press your luck and have it play when rod roddy's successor neil ross announces the prizes won by whoever.

I'm British and even I found this astonishing. I'm surprised the whammy didn't have a heart attack.

indeed it was mr barker. look foreward to the future when i post other exciting installments such as the famous 5 minute spin battle where in kathy loses at least $31,000 to the whammy. or the exciting $3 win (i forget the contestant's names but yes there is an ep where one player edges out another by a mere $3. closest game in PYL history). also the infamous jim hess ep (player yells "S--T!" after whammying on the last spin) or the mel blanc episode.

What an amazing second round

I've always wondered how these contestants are forced to take their vacations. Is it one after the other, do they get a voucher, or are they spread out? I can imagine her boss not being happy that she won 2 solid months of vacations that she now has to take.

On some episodes, we get to hear Peter Tomarken on air, saying this to a champ named Cindy: "Cindy, well done! You are the champ and Rod Roddy will tell you what you have won." He almost always got to say something similar on air to the other champions, but this time, he may have made an exception to say this to Becky off air, knowing that Rod was going to have his work cut out for him at announcing Becky's prizes when they came back from commercial break. This episode seemed inevitable that somebody would break the bank, whether if it was going to be Becky, Paul, or that dreaded Whammy. I wonder if Paul was aware of that $25,000 winnings cap. His strategy may have been to break the bank on the second day, which may be the reason why he stopped playing in case if Becky was going to lose her staggering total to a Whammy. He could have continued playing to build a seemingly impossible lead over Becky, but that would mean that he would have to retire as a one day champion after exceeding the $25,000 limit. Even if Paul was trying not to exceed the winnings cap, he could have done it, anyway, and still lost because if Becky had hit something with extra spins, she could have passed them to Paul. Also, passing as many spins as he did was risky because if a Whammy had broken Becky's bank on the next spin, her four remaining passed spins would be transferred to the "earned" column, then she would have a shot at beating Paul with just a little money if she had passed the last spin back to him and a Whammy had broken his bank to end the game. So many possible outcomes.

This is of course the GSN edit. They aired parts of this episode that CBS didn't show, and vice versa.

Poor Paul had to sit and wait as the other two passed spins back and forth.

Somebody get Rod Roddy a drink after that prize rundown.

i was a wee pup at the time and do not recall seeing the original CBS airing. i can see they obviously edited the contestant interviews at the beginning and shortened the home player spin fanfare (i didn't even know it was the home player spin untll peter mentions after the spin that so and so from somewhereville won such and such).

FTR, the Home Player Spin is at 11:36.

Either they knew the patterns, or they were just lucky.
