I've watched so many videos but no-one explained grips like you. I've always had trouble hitting long shots with a bit of power. But after trying the pressure grip, it has cured my problems and hitting the ball more solidly. Thank you!!

Listen I have a watched a couple of your videos before, but found them repeating the same info but with details. But I have to tell you, this is by far the best video and detailed information about the grip that one can find anywhere. I have been playing snooker for a very long time and read at least 5 books by professional players and watched numerous videos about technique but not many go in detail. I have always struggled with my grip and to me it's the most important part of one's technique. The rest of my technique has always been solid straight elbow, solid bridge, perpendicular forearm but have always struggled with inconsistent timing my stroke. I know you mentioned the natural grip and that is what do many professionals will advise to do. However, I find it not to be true for the majority of the people. Most of these guys have so much talent and they just fall into it naturally. I always played better with the long follow through, otherwise I throw my elbow or impart unintended spin when striking the cueball. A recent a last year I adopted the pressure grip properly along with the long follow through I always had and I have improved dramatically. I wish I have stumbled on this information in detail years ago. Great great job in this video and my apologies for the long comment/post.

That is very informative, Brando. Best clarification of grips I have seen. Actually, I play pool on nine footers but still use snooker principles because I played as a kid and it enables me to get down to shots better being tall while keeping my spine neutral. I have been experimenting with my grip and did notice that the pressure grip becomes more of a piston stroke with the elbow dropping slightly and helping follow through with the cue tip ultimately finishing more upward. I have been using the timing grip more lately (which I used when younger) but still find I over grip on power strokes which is why the pressure grip might be for me. This is pool specific as I did not have the problem playing snooker. I'll keep practicing and watching your videos!

Thank you once again for a great explanation on these two grips. When I struggle with stroke accuracy, it seems to always be because of something within the way I’m gripping my cue. I’m going to experiment with what you’ve described here in your video. Thanks!

@SnookerCoachBrando
@SnookerCoachBrando 2 года назад
It is all personal. Do not overcomplicate it. You should open your grip in a way to allow your wrist to work during backswing. Remember to stay natural and to find what works best for you.

Hello Brando. I notice that your grip hand stops at the chest with the timing grip but you go beyond the chest with the pressure grip by dropping the elbow. Is it necessary to drop the elbow and go beyond the chest on the pressure grip? Can't you just stop at the chest with both grips?
@SnookerCoachBrando
@SnookerCoachBrando 2 года назад
Yes, you can stop at the chest with both grips. If you want to drop the elbow is easier to use the pressure grip as it helps to keep the cue levelled.

@oneplus5562

For timing grip or o-grip, use wrist. For pressure grip, it comes from the back of the wrist/forearm

I feel like I've lost my natural grip, I used to play with timing grip naturally, recently switched to pressure grip, worked well for 2-3 days, later I don't know why it became Suffocating, two days ago I switched back to my old, timing grip, and im finding it hard, what would you suggest me doing? Should I keep trying both grips alternatively frame after frame and understand which ones working for me, or go back to timing grip

If timing grip works well for you do not change. Try to stay focused on your shots - not that much on the grip..
