After watching your video, I went and bought the 30 second cleaner. I used it on my algae stained sidewalk. It took 3 minutes to work and looked better than my pressure washer!!!!! Buy this stuff, it really works!!! It didn't hurt my grass along the sidewalk. April 17, 2020
After watching this video (found by searching for cleaning wood fence) I did everything exactly as Doc said. I bought the exact pressure washer , from amazon, bought the 30 seconds product and followed every step. ..... It worked perfectly! My wood fence looks like new! Had not been washed in 10 years. Thank you DOC! Simpson owes you a commission! I bought the extender (after first panel) saved my back!!!
You're the man, Doc. I'm a quick learner but new to pressure washing. I learned to watch your video on what I need done FIRST then I go out and do a fantastic job. You have reduced my workload and time on the job with the accessories you identify and with your explanations. The house got prepped by pressure washing then painted. Now the house, pops. The driveway, pops. My walkways and sidewalks, pop. The streets and curbs around my house, pop. The brick around the pool, pops. Inside the pool for the first time in decades, pops. My neighbors are now pressure washing. Good but funny. I have a brand new wood porch and fence that has aged now for 2-years so I need your staining video. You guessed it, I'm going now to do my 600+ feet of my new wood fence. Can't find your staining video :(
Do you have a mix rate for the hose end sprayer? I can buy the gallon and not need to buy another sprayer but don’t know how much to add to the 64 oz sprayer? Any help?
THANK YOU. Seriously, thank you for not coming on here and telling people to soak their fence with bleach, or dig in with a red tip until it’s clean, or any of the other ridiculous advice I’ve seen here. Thorough explanations and a way of cleaning that is actually good for the wood. Well done, sir!
Thank you, followed your process and my old fence looks great! I bought the Simpson pressure washer on May 11th. knew it wasn't but do wish it was electric start....I used your link to get to it, but ordered it a few days later. Hope you still got credit. Always concerned about how the link works if someone doesn't buy immediately. Again, thanks. We have a very long fence so it's nice see it look good
Doc, please talk about your installation of poly at the bottom of a fence to reduce rot. I was surprised to see the jet move it so easily. Does it reduce exposure to wet soil? Does it need to be cleaned off and surrounding grade adjusted so more dirt won't just flow back onto it? How much does it help, in your opinion? ...etc. Just discovered you. Fantastic how knowledgeable you are and how well you teach. I wanna just call you "coach!" Thanks a million. Will start buying the stuff you recommend from your web page. YOU DA MAN! ...and I'm grateful!
Great video and product test. I used the 30 second..." with great result. NOW, it is time to protect, seal and stain. Any recommendation for a semi-transparent water proffer sealer stain for my cedar fence? My goal is to minimize maintenance while having a nice look fence. Thanks!
I've been looking at my fence thinking I need to clean and re-stain it this fall so this is right on time!! Can't wait to see the staining video. Thanks Doc! 👍🏾👍🏾
Hey Doc! You should get a dual lance pressure gun then you can have your high pressure and twist the handle to low pressure high flow. A must have to properly rinse while working without having to switch tips...makes rinsing so much faster cause its uses both tubes on the gun... pressure and flow maknig it a high pressure rinse! Been cleaning log homes for 15+ years and I couldnt work without it!
Ok Doc, another comment from first time viewer. I have finished the whole video as well as reading maybe 50 or so comments addressed to you. You get asked some good questions but I see you answer only a few. I certainly understand how many you must get and one or two of my questions were answered in others comments. I only wish you would give a little fuller answers sometimes. It sure would help a lot. Not ones wherethe info
AThis is a great video Doc. Power washing a fence is a pain in the a**. Thanks for doing all the research on products and techniques. You have just saved me and your viewers a metric ton of work and headache trying to figure out the process. Like subscribe.
I loved how you cleaned the fence. It was very helpful. My question is do you do the same method on a picket fence? Can't wait for how to stain a fence. Thanks!
Doc, what impact does the chemicals you are using on the fence have on grass below and on the other side of the fence? P.S. I really appreciate the effort you are taking making these videos.
Get a "Y" connector and spray the GRASS... with plain water after you apply. No impact at all if you do that. You might see a LITTLE impact if you don't but nothing that would kill it or burn it back.
Thank you for all of your great, down-to-earth videos. Kudos on finally staining your fence... ;-] Sun Joe states that you should not use bleach in their power washer, as it is corrosive. 30-Second Cleaner is essentially a bleach. Are you not worried that it will damage your equipment when you use a power washer to apply this product?
After I use the air blower I use moderate "pressure" washer, considering neighbor.... Wait few days until fully dried, I paint my fence... Hoping my neighbors do the same thing to provide longevity of the fence 😄😁
great channel and am a new subscriber; thanks for the tips for the fence....it's a task I have to take on this Spring....can't wait to see the staining video (as that, too, is another task I have to knock-out well before the Summer heat arrives).
Sadly amazon doesn't have this model at the 400 available... Only third party and they are charging 579... Bummer.. I was debating between the Ryobi 3,100 PSI 2.5 GPM Honda Gas Pressure Washer with Idle Down and the Generac SpeedWash Cleaning System with Cleaning Tools 3200-PSI 2.7-GPM Cold Water Gas Pressure Washer CARB... Hey Doc... should I wait? Or try to find the Simpson on another site?
Hey Doc, did you ever do part 2? If not could you at least reply letting me know what kind of stain you used for your fence. I see in your recent videos the fence is stained and it looks good.
Thanks Doc, very very informative. I'm thinking about starting a pressure washing business and this was very helpful and much appreciated. Off topic, when you're talking to your neighbors on the other side of the fence do they call you Wilson. Spitting image from the nose up and with that hat lol
Thank you for giving insight on my next projects: wsh and stain the fence, wash and stain the deck and clean the driveway and sidewalk. On the driveway, if it is washed gravel makeup, do i do the same process?
Hey Doc, love the videos. First time pressure washer owner (bought the Simpson) and have a painted deck. Any tips? Using your info on the stained panels is what I was thinking, 40degree and 12-24" distance from the surface? Also, after I use the 15" Karcher for the painted pool concrete surface I also have, can I rinse it all off with a 40degree tip then? Thanks and keep up the great work. Can't wait to
Thanks for the great content but I have a question : Do you think that this product will still help because I don't see any visible mold or visible moist fungus on my wooden fence ? I only see a discolored sun aged & sun beaten wooden fence that I would like to improve . Thanks, Gerry
At 22:19 stop, you show how to attach the hose to the cleaner bottle. Can you explain how to do it on an electric GreenWorks 2300, where the water reservoir is attached to the machine? How can it be bypassed? Great video, by-the-way.
I assume the final step is a brightening agent? At least I hope. Oxalic or a citralic? If so. Rinse that after in my opinion. Other than that good job on the fence.
Is it better to remove stain from a fence using a pressure washer or a stain stripper or a combination of both? I need to remove a fence stain plus clean and prep for a fresh stain but I'm not sure if a pressure washer will do everything in one go.
Hi Doc, As a noobie I have been testing things out. I applied 30 sec cleaner to my wooden fence and rinsed vigorously with the garden hose. Today I am testing out a small electric pressure washer. I know I should have used the pressure washer when rinsing, but I wanted to test the hose method first for the sake of learning. Now that I am pressure washing, I am seeing a small bit of green in just a few areas (here and there), throughout the fence. The fence is pine and 3-4 years old. I have 2 questions: 1. Do those areas need to be 100% gone before I stain, even though they disappear when the fence is dry? 2. What if I just finish the pressure washing and wait until next summer to re-clean the right way, then stain? Thank you for your advice, BP
I applied the cleaner and the entire surface of the fence became a white mushy pulp. I'm using the 40 tip to pressure wash, and need to do that 2-3 times before all the white pulp is gone. The wood looks more roughened now, kinda shaggy. Is this right? Also, if i've left light "cut marks" from the pressure washer, will it show when I use a semi-transparent stain? Thank you for your help!
I would like to confirm, after you apply the 2nd round of 30 Second Cleaner, you do NOT rinse it off you simply let it dry and then stain the fence right?
Hey Doc. Great video but in looking to buy the pressure washer, states not to use any chemicals with bleach or it will eat up the seals in the water pump. Any thoughts on that?
Hey Doc. Why not use a rotating nozzle for the pressure washer and just strip the old off? That way you dont have to spend the money on the cleaner, just water.
Hey Doc, I just saw your pressure washing video and it made me real excited to clean my fence but when I tried pressure washing nothing's coming off it still looks as dirty as before any suggestions? I've seen your video about the mold and mildew cleaners but my fence doesn't look like it's got mold or mildew It just looks really dirt y and that's why I thought the power washing would work. Do you think I need a cleaner then to help out? Thanks for your help, Tracey
Was searching for product to spray on cedar house to make cedar brighter Used to buy Aquatrol but they do not sell it ant more Just want something to brighten cedar and bring to life
Doc! I built a cedar fence 4 years ago with 7/8" lumber. It is rough cut on one side and smooth on the other side. Before discovering your vids I sealed it with Sherwin Williams SuperDeck oil based transparent. I regret using oil base really! QUESTION: Would you recommend using a stripper first? (Olympic Premium Stain Stripper???) followed by the 30 Seconds via pressure washer then 30 Seconds via hose connection? Thanks in advance...
Hi Doc, we have approx. 30 x 1" x 8' x 8' bamboo fence in our back yard. Just installed it and replaced the previous 15 year old bamboo fence. Would like to "take better care" of the new bamboo fence. This would include cleaning the bamboo every year (both sides). Just don't know how pressure cleaning bamboo stalks might work out. Any thoughts recommendations? Gratefully
Hello! I absolutely LOVE your videos and can totally relate as I'm also OCD and pressure cleaning to me is very satisfying and therapeutic. I have a Snap on PSI Electric pressure washer of 2000 PSI AND 1.4 GPM. My question is, I want to buy on Amazon a PENSON & CO. 4.0 GPM Turbo Rotary Rotating Nozzle for Pressure Washer 1/4 Quick Connect 5000PSI but are a bit confused if this will be the appropiate Turbo Rotating Nozzle given my machine's 2000 PSI and 1.4 GPM, does that matter or this will work just as well? Thanks so much for your reply, I look forward to same.
Thank you. But NEVER EVER put your fingers in front of the nozzles when changing them. If the wand trigger fails under pressure, you will instantly get a nasty fluid injection injury. Hopefully, you would never put you hand in front of a gun barrel. Similarly, please keep away from the nozzle.
Thanks again for all the great info! You briefly mentioned using much lower pressure for decks, do you have a specific psi recommendation for decks and wood siding? I'm thinking for siding I probably want a medium pressure - not too much, but enough to get the job done.
Two questions. What happens if you use the driveway surface cleaner on a fence. Second is any tips or tricks for a composit deck cleaning. Should I use the surface cleaner or any chemicals?
I would not recommend a surface cleaner on a wooden fence. Very good chance you will damage the wood due to the fact that tips on surface cleaner are so close to the wood. I would stay with 40° tip with cold water water.
