I thought that I would share my review, and experiences with, the Presto "Fountain" hot air popcorn popper. I find this to be a big improvement over the older generation of hot air poppers.
Thanks for taking the time to post such a nicely detailed review of this popcorn popper. We just ordered this model, in part, based upon your helpful review.
Thank you for this overview! I was undecided on which popper to buy with so many mixed reviews to compare. This video outlined the benefits and also the cons. Thank you again! I'm purchasing today!!
Very good demo. Your in depth description was perfect for me. Now I know I’ll buy this one. I had the old style 30 or so years ago. Loved it. But a series of moves, stopped working after 20 years. Can’t wait to pick up a new one.
Very nice video - you sold me - taking the bottom off over another bowl smart - I would eat the popcorn in another bowl so it doesn;t get messed up - thanks again - i bought some Avacado Spray to use and then I lightly spray the popcorn - doesn't have taste - and I use cheddar cheese powder I get from the amish - this is an awesome machine - love it - no cleaning
I was looking at one of these today and didn't buy it because there was a sticker on the outside warning of cancer from plastic - one of those California warning stickers, so I decided to stay out of California. I like the metal lining of the popping area so there seems little risk of cancer from the plastic, so I don't know what the deal is with that warning. I'm going to get one of these, so thanks for the detailed video. Today is 2-03-2020. This unit sells for $29.99 locally in Lansing, Michigan. I haven't priced it yet online at Amazon.
The trick is that the bowl expands and lid does cause is not heated. I would put lid loosely on top of the bowl so it expands with it and you'd avoid bits of popcorn flying out of it
I'm an avid popcorn popper and one of the things that drive me nuts it the husk. I've found that yellow corn produces more than say white corn. Not sure which brand of popcorn is better to use with less husk. Anyone have suggestions? My favorite popcorn is movie theater but being disabled hot air is less risk and less husk than microwave style. Ideas fellow Poppers??
its legit product it just needs a lid for the bowl once it is removed to shake your season into it... but it is better than the presto air popper because that one doesn't have the metal lids to catch the seeds ..... i am about to exchange it today for this fountain model for sure
No, because doing that would drip melted butter into the heating chamber, a fire risk. Of course, once the popper has been inverted and the popped corn is in the bowl, you can drizzle melted butter at that time. I just use the recommended powder flavorings, which don't make a mess, and the bowl can be quickly wiped with a dry paper towel.
That's your problem. You put half of a cup in the popper. You need to put popcorn in the popper. But seriously, why make your comment here before investigating what the problem is? Did you exchange it and get better results with the replacement? Did you contact Presto support? All we know now is that you did something and it dis not work, and that information is not useful to anyone.
No, if you tried it would catch fire. When popping corn, butter must never be added while the corn is over a heat source. With THIS popper, you can add melted butter after tipping it upside down to dump the popped cord into the bowl. I am pretty sure I already said this in my review.....
But when you have to flip it over, all the un-popped kernels sit right on top of all of the popcorn. Don't think all those seeds will easily travel downward to the bottom.
JonathanH, I demonstrated how that is not the case. Many unpopped kernels do initially sit on top, but after I perform my little shaking maneuver, they go to the bottom. I have never encountered any remaining unpopped ones remaining on top or in the middle.
Don't be silly. Of course one of the reasons to have the opening is to add butter after popping, but another technique (which was recommended by Presto...I forgot WHERE, but I learned it from them) was to do it exactly as I demonstrate it here. So get off your high horse, you don't know everything.
BaltoMovie, yes, there is a reason for it to be the length it is. It is exactly the length required for the narration I intended and executed. Maybe before you wrote such a shallow and childish comment you should have looked at all the very positive comments this video has had. "lol" yourself
@@BaltoMovie I am sorry that you want to put the onus back on me. I had a perfectly good video that a LOT of people like, and you ridiculed me in your very perfunctory yet false comment.....that is "your bad", not "my bad". BTW, when you insult somebody or their work and then LOL "Laugh Out Loud" at them, how do you expect the recipient of your bile to "take it"? If you did not intend to be insulting, you have a funny way of writing your thoughts.
Guess you are very confused, or did not actually watch the video! You "imagine" "many" unpopped kernels or burned kernels, yet a main feature of any hot air popper is that kernels don't get burned, and this particular popper does a very good job preventing unpopped kernels from getting into the bowl. But like ANY kind of corn popping, there will always be some unpopped kernels, that is unavoidable. Yet, you proclaim this to be a "junk" popper......
